I agree Jake. Why can’t you legally drive such a vehicle on local roads? I live in Australia and over here if the police catch you driving an unregistered vehicle, you will be treated worse than if you broke into someone’s house, trashed it and stole their stuff.
Great machine, but they use tempered glass on the windshield. A small rock shattered mine trailering it to the lease for a hunt. Rendered it useless. Lift posts flopping around, windshield wiper flopping around, glass all over seats, dash, floor. Gouged up all the dash. It was raining so all the interior got soaked. Not a good morning. Getting a price to replace it now, bet they aren’t cheep. Wish they would have told me about the windshield material, may have built a shield for trailering or bought a Polaris.
Between the msrp and dealer markups, it's freaking robbery and they should fix stuff like that for free. What actual perks come with owning a gator? A 1 year limited warranty? Such BS
they suck in the snow four wheel drive is hokey and breaks all the time mine wont go in 2 inches of packed snow even barely with traction assist on Another JD F .....kup 625 i one year old
How does the 835 r compare to the can am defender which is very nice also. The can am is 26k to 30k. I think this unit is going to be high but how expensive.

John deers' are a rip, ESPECIALLY their gator lineup. I would hope an american company like JD would do right by its' customers, and not call things that should be standard, premium. How is a sun visor a premium option? are you f&%*ing kidding me?! For about 14k, you can get the newest gator "bare bones". There is no fair pricing anymore. The new status quo is the bare minimum for the absolute maximum cost to the customer. Our 2019 gator costs as much as new car, and it doesn't even have a windshield. It has all these empty slots for options that it didn't include, making it feel incomplete. I can barely load a cubic yard of soil into it, and be able to dump the bed by myself. It does not feel like it assists very much... I guess if you don't need to actually get things done or move heavy things around like earth, wood, and rock, it works great.

They're required to use either tempered glass or safety glass for the windows.

No. It has an air filter. The charging compartment might be were you'd connect whatever type of battery charger/ jump starter that you prefer.

They start at $13,800 for the open cab model and go up to about $26K for the enclosed cab, with the tilt bed, winch, and HVAC, etc.
