@OurJourney2SouthAfrica My mom is here visiting from Philly for the holidays and we enjoyed watching this video together. She's a retired Chef and asked me to tell you "Greens are looking good Char". 👌
Brocco Bunch are the leaves that grow with brocoli. Collards & Brocoli are in the same Brassicaceae family of plants. Yes, they will definitely taste good.
@@ThePriceSquadYou are Welcome. I love watching all your videos. I’m a foodie so I loved that you cooked an entire meal using ingredients only found in SA. Keep doing more cooking videos!
Those are collard greens. I grew up eating them, but when I got to the US I found the collard. You find those greens everywhere, and mom used to buy them in Alexandria township.
@OurJourney2SouthAfrica it looked that way! I am such a foodie I can't wait to get my first salary from work this month I am going to get good quality groceries and start experimenting I have just been cooking mostly spaghetti bolognaise and eating 2 minute noodles and making spinach rice with sausage and onions etc. I want to really up my cooking game so that when my future husband comes I am ready to throwdown in the kitchen
@OurJourney2SouthAfrica Queen cakes are South African cupcakes. Next time you should try the "savory mix" from the same queen cake brand that you used 😊.
You can cut and boil it for 5 min in Sal water and make a white sauce with it, a dash of cheese and bake in the oven for 10 minutes. Otherwise, make a tomato chutney and add it in. Normally eaten with pap. 😊
i once saw you guys having speko as your choice of rice in one of your videos. the best rice brand in SA is called TASTIC. others do not cook nd look that good.
@@akizzle2273it is. They literally have boards all over the airport that state meat, seeds, plants etc should be disposed before entering. Even the fruit you get on the plane, you can’t take it into South Africa.
That is called smuggling and can lead to fines and even revoked visas. We have even a department at the international airport that deals with that at immigrations section. It however doesn't stop people from doing it, especially those that weren't aware it was illegal in the first place

She has not settled on anything. She's planning to come back next year.
Maybe the next time you have a visitor, they can bring seeds of fruits and veggies you can't find there.
That's illegal.

It was either Spar or Pick n Pay. I can't remember which.
Collard Greens = Borecole / Curly Kale
We'll try that as well. The kale we saw also looked similar to collards. 👍🏿

The brocco brunch sounds and look to me like broccoli leaves before they start shooting broccoli stem.....I can be corrected
I grow them in my small veggie garden
I usually mix them with spinach....yummmmm😋
That sounds like a good mix. I will try that out next time! Thanks for the tip. 👍🏿
