My dad hated that boat ride ( No offense to the boat company ) so we always flew over when he'd bring us up to see grandma and grandpa for a couple days. Ironically, after he passed, it was the way he came back for the final time. Been 25 years but still...R.I.P. Dad.
@TurnedLeftAtTheRockyMountains..You know, he never said why or I was so young I don't remember. It could be that the boat took 2 1/2 hours whereas the plane took 10 mins. Knowing my dad as I did, that extra 2 hours and 20 minutes was cutting into his beer time at the Shamrock bar. 🤣🤣🤣
@@JPlum2261 Try some of our Lake Erie islands! South Bass is best because of Put-in-Bay then maybe Kelley's Island. Other than that most are uninhabitable. That's why just before you hit South Bass you travel by Starve Island..LOL.
@@JPlum2261 nothing to do if you don’t like to go outside. Sure it doesn’t have the tourist traps of mackincac island, but it far makes up for it in pure serene untouched nature. Prettiest place east of the mississippi in the United States
There's a lot of factors there, where you would be staying, motel, campsite, cabin rental, etc, if you're eating out at one of the several restaurants on the island, buying groceries from the local grocery store or bringing food with you, and then whether you would rent a car or bikes on the island or not. These all factor in what the price would be for the week so you could really make any budget work. Ferry tickets currently cost $65 during peak season for adults round trip, and a car starts at $210 roundtrip during peak season. A good source to start at is www.beaverisland.org/. Hope this helps!

How do they get off the island January thru March ? I do see a very small airport now on the map so that answers my question.
There are actually 2 airports: Beaver Island Airport and the smaller Welke Airport closer to the village. Both offer passenger service.
