My grandmother was a nurse on death row in Huntsville while he was incarcerated. I own two art works he made while in there, a clock and a box both made out of popsicle sticks. Fascinating case.
I was part of a group of detectives in the 1990's that reviewed cold murder cases for the State of Missouri. A county Sheriff had interviewed Lucas about the murder of a young woman found stabbed to death along a rural road. The Sheriff said Lucas confessed to the killing and the case was closed; however, the DA did not file charges. My review of the case revealed that the Sheriff's investigators had shown Lucas the crime scene photos and Lucas was able to glean details of the murder from the investigators who were supposed to be interrogating him. The "confession" was video taped and provided a prime example of how Lucas was able to manipulate and extract details from the investigators. Lucas was then able to convince the all too eager investigators that Lucas knew details only the killer would know. All the while Lucas was hoaxing a multitude of investigators and detectives, he was getting special housing and food and celebrity status. The inexcusable and horrific result of his scam was that gullible detectives and those eager to quickly clear a murder case through Lucas' "confessions", allowed the real murderers to remain undetected and escape prosecution.
Hopefully, those cases will be reopened so that the true murderers can be brought to justice. Highly unlikely that HL committed all of them. HL seems like a narcissist who got supply from his notoriety.
@@rustycamper1785 I believe they saw this as a convenient way to close a murder case and they weren't going to look to critically at the story Lucas was telling.
Loved the opening........"We are going to prison." "But I don't want to go to prison." "Too bad, we are going to prison." Love the work you two do, keep it up.
I remember reading about an interview with Lucas where he tells the Japanese interviewer "Oh, I killed some in your country!" When the incredulous journalist asked Lucas how he got to Japan, Lucas laughs at the guy like he's an idiot and replied "Well, I drove there!"
Okay that is actually kinda funny, but Lucas did exploit a lot of very gullible people who I think were not necessarily dumb, and I wonder how he managed to do this for apparently a long time before people realized he's full of bs and decided to execute him...
Henry Shreve cleared the 165 mile log jam, called "The Raft," on the Red River that flows thru Shreveport, which then led to the city becoming an important port, and they named the city after him for doing this. I just watched a documentary of Henry Lee Lucas. Crazy timing. Thanks. I really liked how that female Dallas Detective made a fake murder file and he confessed.
Great Segment Grimm Life. I know it's nowhere compatible to the electric chair, but last year I suffered a medical emergency. One night last year I suffered with something called with ventricular fibrillation also known as sudden cardiac arrest which usually results in death in just a few minutes without immediate care. It's the No. 1 cause of natural death in the United States, and accounts for half of all deaths from heart disease. I was very fortunate there is a fire/rescue station less than a half mile from mile my house. When it occurred I wasn't terrified, a sense of calm actually came over me. I thought to myself "So this is how I'm going out, at least my Wife and Adult Son are with me." I don't know exactly, but I'm pretty sure the Paramedic Crew, and Firefighters arrived in 3 to 5 minutes. The first thing the Paramedic did was to check my vitals. My blood pressure was dangerously low, and he saw the ventricular fibrillation when he hooked me up to the EKG. The Paramedic said "We have to defibrillate you to get your heart in rhythm, but we don't have time to give you anything for the pain." The Paramedic was very honest and said "I'm not going to lie to you, this is going to hurt like a MFer" While he attached the two defibrillator pads to my chest. I just looked at him and said "Let's do it". I was actually sitting on my living room couch when I was defibrillated. My wife said when the paramedic pushed the button on the defibrillator I was knocked back about two feet. Like he had warned me, it was very painful and everything went white. The pain only lasted about 5 seconds, and then I was back to be fully aware of what was going on. Within 30 seconds, my heart rhythm was normal, my blood pressure started coming back up and I was on the way to the hospital feeling much better. The next day in the hospital, the paramedic that saved my life was there to bring someone else into the ER. He stopped by my room to see how I was doing. I owe the man my life and couldn't be more grateful for the professionalism, and empathy that night. What I learned that night is that life is very precious. Don't waste it. And the only thing that matters are the people you love. Everything else is just is just a distraction. Keep doing what you do. Thank you.
My high-school sent myself and 5 or 6 other "troubled" boys to the Indiana state prison for a tour and a sort of proto scared straight lecture. During the tour we got to go check out their electric chair, I don't remember if it was still in use but they also showed us the hospital style bed used for the injections. Fun times
In situations like this, I just feel for the family and friends of lost loved ones who were teased with a possible bit of closure, only for their emotions to be dashed all over again. That is soooo cruel!*! 😕❤

The Texas Rangers detectives should've had more accountability for this big mess. The Rangers loved this fame. Shameful
That's a huge problem that they want to clear cases too fast, many innocent who have got caught that way by lazy investigation.
