The Lucchese crime family is one of the "Five Families" that dominate organized crime activities in New York City, United States, within the nationwide criminal phenomenon known as the American Mafia.
The family originated in the early 1920s with Gaetano Reina serving as boss up until his murder in 1930. It was taken over by Tommy Gagliano during the Castellammarese War and led by him until his death in 1951. Known as the Gagliano crime family under Gagliano, the family kept their activities low key, with their efforts concentrated in the Bronx, Manhattan, and New Jersey. Members refer to the organization as the Lucchese borgata, the meaning of borgata (or brugard) is Mafia slang for criminal gang, which itself was derived from the Sicilian word meaning close-knit community. The next boss was Tommy Lucchese who served as Gagliano's underboss for over 20 years, who turned the family around to become one of the most powerful families to sit on the Commission. Lucchese teamed up with Gambino crime family boss Carlo Gambino to control organized crime in New York City. Lucchese had a stronghold on the garment industry in New York and took control of many crime rackets for his crime family. When Lucchese died of a brain tumor in 1967, Carmine Tramunti controlled the family for a brief time; he was arrested in 1973 for funding a major heroin network and died five years later. Anthony Corallo then gained control of the family. Corallo was very secretive and soon became one of the most powerful members of the Commission. He was arrested and convicted in the famous Commission case of 1986.
For most of its history, the Lucchese family was reckoned as one of the most peaceful crime families in the nation. However, that changed when Corallo named Victor Amuso his successor shortly before going to prison. Amuso later promoted one of his longtime partners, Anthony Casso to underboss. Starting with the Windows Case in 1986, they instituted one of the bloodiest reigns in Mafia history, ordering virtually anyone who crossed them to be murdered. It is estimated that Casso himself has murdered between 30 and 40 people and has ordered over 100 murders during his reign; he was sentenced to 455 years in prison. Casso also had authority over NYPD detectives Louis Eppolito and Stephen Caracappa: both carried out at least 8 murders for him. Amuso was arrested in 1991 and sentenced to life in prison. Several Lucchese wiseguys, fearing for their lives, turned informant. The highest-profile of these was acting boss Alphonse D'Arco, who became the first boss of a New York crime family to testify against the mob. This led to the arrest of the entire Lucchese family hierarchy, with Casso also becoming an informant. Testimony from these informants nearly destroyed the family, with as many as half of its members incarcerated. Amuso has continued to rule the family from prison.

I love Zoe and she was great but I really love the other guys voice more he just has the best mood setting tone, just some feedback, Zoe did great
agree. i am not totally sure why but i tend to lean towards listening to crime channels narrated by guys and usually ones with more depth and character to their voice.
females are typically IN MY OPINION too soft sounding for the horrible situation they are explaining even when they have deeper voices i just don't listen as much as i would if narrated by a guy.
Zoe is great she does top quality work. I found her channel weeks ago and sub'd. Almost as soon as the narration started I thought it was her. Go watch her content you'll enjoy it.
@@MTurner504 It makes sense. This is why a lot of women dong like female sports announcers.
yeah I totally get you, I don't know why but I always prefer male narrators no matter what I'm watching on youtube, I watch a lot
of creepy pastas and such and also when I listen to audiobooks I want the reader to be male
I came to the comments to say this exact thing. I like the man’s voice more
I already miss the male voice - it was so perfect for true crime
Whaaaaaaaaaa……😭😭…..I’m an Adult Baby!! 👶🏻
@@FearEeatsTheSoul how childish is that response, the comment was absolutely true and your comment seems to lack any intelligence and counter a valid point, she just doesn't suit this, she's very good at her it but just doesn't fit this, you can be good at something but still bebthe wrong choice, i would say your response is the one of an adult baby
@@seanhickin9959 Have you ever heard the Saying: “Some things are just better left unsaid.” 🤔
Any narrator that has the capacity for pronunciation would be fine with me! 😂😂😂😂
This narration made me feel like I was listening to a bedtime story...a really violent one, but still...
Thats good hopefully you had a good rest from it
@@sykosyxx1728 I definitely did 😔🤤😴
She's OK, but the male voice is vastly superior. His tonality and cadence is much better than hers.
Yea I can’t watch this
A think her voice is absolutely fine ...if you don't like her voice don't watch it ya rocket
@@tommybhoy8461 it's called constructive criticism yah bell end
@@CodeeXD chill chill chill chill a was joking anyway a just wanted a reaction thanks 🏴
The male narrator’s voice is what makes this channel really stand out for me. The stories are great, but that slightly hoarse voice and the rhythm he puts in the sentences are out of this world.
Thank you for recommending Zoë and thanks to her for narrating the video. She did a good job. However, please bring back the usual narrator for the next one as his work is what makes me love this channel 🙏🏼
Awwww. ….. for some reason her voice didn’t put me to sleep 😞😞
Males are usually superior, besides when it comes to finding mates
*I'm not saying what he did was cool but Lucky was a genius when it came to staying alive.*
Oh come on, the government makes these guys look like saints.
His Name wasn't Lucky for nothing 💯🤞
She has a nice voice, she just sounds like shes reading me a Chrismas Carol...
yeah... i found myself having trouble staying focused. the original guy is way more captivating
I love the pivot this Chanel is taking. The way you tell your story and manage to encompass. Not just insane serial killers, lust crimes, and mass murders. Your touching on the professional opportunist who use there jobs and professions as an excuse to exercise there urge . Demao fam now lucchese fam. Keep up the great work SKD. Your def not a burning 🔥 out flame. Your still going strong 💪🏽. .
I have to agree with you.
DeMeo?
The production and presentation is incredibly professional looking. Well done
Great narration but the tone of the previous guy really sets the tone for this channel imo. She was great tho. Im sure well all fall in love with zoe if if doesnt change back to the man!
Apparently this was just a one off. They wanted to give her a shout out and she said she would prefer to narrate an episode as a way to prove herself to the audience instead of just a blind shout out
Great collab! Great video, thanks a lot 👍
I love her!! Is like she's reading me an audio book. Definitely checking her channel out.
Please tell me the new narrator is a one off. I've always loved the narrator of this channel. She did a great job but wasn't what I'm used to and grown to love.
I agree 100%
Yes, I agree with you.
I agree but Are you gonna carry?? Pull it together you’re an Adult!
@@FearEeatsTheSoul Carry what? I assume you mean cry
Yeah she’s just doing it this one time. SKD sent out a post explaining that he wanted to give her channel a shout out but she wanted to prove herself first and offered as a way of doing that by being the narrator for one episode. I thought she did a good job and plan on checking out her channel. I of course love our usual narrator on SKD but thought this was a neat way to help her get her channel recognized.
I miss the guy tbh
Hey Doc I won't be here tonight. Got farm stuff to do. The trailer is great it's strange hearing a new narrator, but I like it. Enjoy the premiere everyone!
It’s tomorrow evening. Tuesday 😃
It's ok, I won't be here tonight either. See you in 24 hours :)

Yes sis so happy to see u are into the mob docs also 😀♥️

I would definitely love to hear more from her !!! Amazing job👍😎🙏
Couldn't be here for the premiere but LOVE the movie videos, growing up in NY this stuff is so interesting. Great presentation as usual 🤘🏾
I'd always imagined that narrators "have a face for radio" and that's why they end up doing it, but this young lady has totally crushed that theory!
Sounds amazing. I was going to comment on how I appreciated the narrator in this, then got a surprise at the end. Thanks guys!
Seriously the quality of these videos are amazing! Great job! 👍🙏
Keep them coming!
Awesome job
You did A Great job Zoe
This was so well put together ! One of the best mob documentary I've ever seen👍😎🙏
hooked on your channel, also love the intro you have wish it was a little longer. thanks for all your hard work
I enjoyed the narration and subbed to Zoe’s YT channel.
Oh my gosh I'm super excited for this!!!
I love Zoe's voice and manner of speaking. Usually true crime narrators have this intense tone that makes it hard to digest for me. Zoe kind of eases me into it.
This was cool. Nicely done and I'm subscribed now
I'll confess... I love mafia stories! I read The Godfather when I was a kid and gained a romanticized understanding of the mob from inside the mob that has stuck with me for 40-some years. Thanks for bringing you no nonsense outrage and Zoe's evocative voice to the Luccheses. Be well and stay safe everyone! 🖖🐢👣
weres the link,,i dont need a vpn
Well done!
I like Zoe's voice and presentation. Thanks for having her on!
I'll definitely subscribe to her channel.
Great narration!!!!
I really enjoyed this video, u touched on a few things I didn’t know.. It’ll be great if u can cover the other families & possibly more via La cosa nostra
Not being rude but I prefer the original voice for these stories. I subbed to her to help out and like the story. I have been sleeping alot more lately so sorry I missed the live. Stay safe.
Not the best story for a female narrator. But her voice is nice and she's easy to look at.
Thank you kindly !
Great work Zoe really refreshing, where do I sign lol
Youre voice is so calming. I was angry when i started listening to this and her voice chilled me right out.
Great narration.......went right over and subbed on ur channel
I love, love, love the original voice im in love with it and only he and his voice will do for my listening enjoyment!
AWESOME SAUCE AND COOL BEANS on the end!! I will be sure to add Zoe to my long app list of crime!
Thank you Doc ! And Thank You Zoe ! I have a fur baby named Zoee!
That was Great Doc !🥰
Thank you for introducing me to Zoe!!! Love you both.
Great job Zoe!
Great documentary 🍿
Love the new narrator! Very soothing
You're from Romania? Never would have guessed that. Same here. Amazing channel, frate!
Heyyyyy... sorry I missed the Premier..but I watch every video anyway lol 😆
Nice to hear Italian names pronounced almost right, for a change. Brava davvero 👍🏼
Nothing like lovely Italian names well pronounced. It makes the whole experience of murder and violence even more endearing.
Must have watched a different show!!😂😂
Ah yes bring on the mafia documentaries I'm loving this
Outstanding, comprehensive & quite factually correct. What a gorgeous voice also. Huge tick, well done.
Just found this,thanks!
Keep up the mafia documentary’s! Lots of great info to pick from!
Nothing new sadly..
Love it!
Just a small detail✅.
Looks like Lucchese lost 2 (two) fingers, not “a finger”…. thus the remaining three (3) fingers left.
@@maverickstclare3756
In my cat family tree they have six each. 😸
Thanks for another mafia documentary
Weird thing to say but I'm glad im subbed to this channel
Tell us at the beginning that she was on for a reason lol, I thought we were going to lose our amazing narrator, she did a great job btw.
I like the sound of the new narrator, reminds me of the listening tests I used to do in school.
Giving zoey a chance like this is awesome 👏🏼
Zoe, I like the way you narrate! SKD thanks for giving her the chance, very nice move!
Nice trailer, SKD! And I like this narrator too.
Me too! 😉

I love your videos I just wish you had more video clips vs photos and a story
Hey Zoe! I thought it was your voice. Subscribed weeks ago. Love your work.
Subscribe to her channel she does great work!
PERFECTLY NARRATED..👍
Cheers from Australia..
Very interesting! How long is story?
I like this woman’s voice, and telling a NY crime story popcorn ready !
43 minutes long, I believe.

Anthony Caso didn't want to be boss because of all the heat it brings, Amuso was really second in command, he listened to Caso.
Amuso was really Cassos puppet

yes he was.
I love Zoe as a narrator. Her voice is soothing.
You got the fancy trailer for this!
What trailer? I feel like I'm missing something! Or was it part of the premiere?
I would love to see more mafia/gang style videos. Super cool & interesting.
Nice to listen to you Zoe, you got a new subscriber, by the way, your voice makes me wanna stay awake and watch more .. 🤣🤣
Wonderful narration love it keep up the great work. Makes my night! I hope u get so many more subs, well deserved💙💙💙
I like the new narrator, reminds me of a teacher I had in primary school who was really nice
No worries i liked ur narration and the whole story subject and you i have to say ..
I'm so glad it's basically confirmed how much we all love the outro to this channel...come on raise your hand if you always end up letting it play all the way through! ✋🏽
Between this song and the one that plays for Mike's (That Chapter) Life Insurance Policy Dance we are getting a hot little true crime playlist started here!🎶
Absolutely loved the voice! I think she's proven herself. Sometimes it's good to have a change of voices between this video and that, in the same channel. Maybe that's just me. Awesome podcast!
Can't believe i try to fall asleep to crime stories .
very interesting Quite well read
I loved this documentary you guys made. Maybe put actual Tommy Lucchese in the Thumbnail ? Of the video about his crime family and not Luciano
love her voice great narration
I love the sound of your voice i can concentrate or fall asleep ,thanks
The federal government learned a lot from these guys. The tradition of bilking the public at gun point lives on in the form of civil asset forfeiture and the DHS.
So true
In 72 my stepfather went into the witness protection program for ratting on the mob. He was a lobbyist on Capitol Hill. I've been fascinated with the mob ever since. I can tell you my mother, my sister and I were almost killed twice before my Stepfather was just one day gone... Strange indeed
Are you saying your stepfather disappeared?
@@chitweak18 We never saw him again. I was told witness protection program and I just found an article in the New York Times that said he was in witness protection...Darryl Fleming Lobbyist and you can read the little bit of info I found. My nanny told me what happened. My mother NEVER spoke of it.
@@chitweak18 Your name and " Flwrgirl-pwr67 " have the same patterns , strange !
I doubt it... mafia never go after mothers, or children thats off limits... BTW what was ur stepfather name?
@@rudykadous4005 well I can only go by memories of a 5 yr old but it was very traumatic to be run into a ditch off of I-95 and I'm not sure how long after that my sister and I were taken to a HJ in the middle of the night. We than went traveling for a month with our caregiver. When we returned he was gone and we were in a new house..I was a teenager before my caregiver told me the truth.
Look up Darrel Fleming lobbyist..it's only 2 small articles but damn it's strange. My mother worked on Capitol Hill and the Pentagon her whole career..I wish I knew more

I like the male voice
I really prefer the old voice
Eh can’t get through the narration I afraid

I really love your videos, the narration is done really well but could use a little bit more emotion
Well I like it when a girl makes slurping sounds when she slobber's on my nobber, do you make sounds like that???
Good job zoe
Sweetheart you did a great job
@Serial Killers Documentaries I cannot question the skills of this narrator, she does a wonderful job and is clear and easy to understand but it just seems too soft and gentle for this genre which I found sometimes takes away from things at times. But I love seeing you take risks with your content!
samsies. i just prefer guys with depth to their voice when it comes to describing such horrific crimes.

It sounds like an audiobook, not narration, sadly.
I liked the thumbs up!!!!
Tony Soprano was not based on Michael Tesata, the Lucchesse family's New Jersey caporegime. He was more inspired by the NJ based DeCalvacante family underboss "Vinny Ocean". The character of Silvio Dante isn't based on anyone at all. He was a last minute addition to the cast that David Chase created just because he loved Steven Van Zandt so much and wanted him in his show in some capacity. No planning or forethought went into The Silvio Dante character at all. It was all seat-of-his-pants type stuff with Silvio that David Chase allowed Van Zandt to run with for his character all on his own.
Being that his own background was rock n roll, and not Broadway, Steven Van Zandt cobbled Silvio out of a mosaic of sleazy, mob-owned record executives, talent agents, and nightclub owners he and Bruce Springsteen encountered in 1960s-70s New York.
Please do a video on HH Holmes!
Enjoyed very much. I'm off to Zoe's channel now 🥰
