I'm still very skeptical on the idea of a full-blown 3D remake of Sky. That's mostly due to what I saw in the last two Trails games that were published in the west. There were moments like in CS4 where Rean would get a comm call from the old Thors students who didn't appear in CS3, such as Stefan, Klein, Hibelle and Clara. During that call, character art from CS1 flashed on-screen. Same stuff with the "storming the castle"-sequence in Reverie, where characters mentioned Kevin, Ries, Don and Kyle were taking part, but weren't shown on screen. Or the Bright daydream where people commented that Cassius was on a short break from work in the Empire, so he was still wearing the uniform instead of his casual clothes from Sky. Or the Tournament daydream not showing Zechs and Cassius actually fighting. And after 3 games, we still haven't seen the Residential District and Downtown/Uptown district in Crossbell. Those were pretty obvious signs of a company being very, very careful with the limited development resources they have on hand and needing a justification for every single asset they create for their games. And somehow this company also has the resources to throw a Liberl remake together despite the fact they'd have close to zero assets they'd be able to carry over from earlier games? I just can't see it. I'm among the people who believe the Sky arc has largely withstood the test of time pretty well. One of my pet peeves is the idea of losing its extremely expressive and varied collection of portraits in favor of the samey-face art from the Evo versions. And a full-fledged voiceover would require those samey-faces because the original art, with its varying angles, is much harder to lip-sync. So I'm not sure I'd even want that. Honestly, the most I'd want out of a port would be a handful of subtle changes like the option to only trigger encounters if monsters touch your leading party member, rebalance difficulty levels so hard and nightmare aren't utter slogs, make it easier to equip/unequip quartz/gear, make it easier to switch in characters on the bench in SC and possibly buff Josette a bit so she's less of a joke character and more a serious option. And for crying out loud, don't use those spoiler-ridden Evo introductions. And make a deal with XSeed. They were the ones who invested money into the franchise when nobody else would take it.
14:41 its funny that CS1 had worse cutscenes in comparison to azure and zero man. This issue also goes on to happen even in reverie, the arc en ciel plays were just way more impressive in the crossbell saga(i do get it that their things got destroyed by shirley and crew, making it hard to do plays they used to do, but still, it just looked bad in comparison)they jumped around doing all kind of acrobacies and that really felt impressive, it was able make you feel like you were watching an actual play. Its good to hear that they improved in that regard
I like the community integration in this video! I used to always say that I don't want a Sky remake but I don't think because I thought any attempt by Falcom to recreate the game in full 3D would only be inferior to the originals, but that was back in the Cold Steel era. The idea of a remake in Daybreak's engine has me really excited. Switching between action combat and turn based combat with the Sky cast would be a blast, and their improved animation and motion capture might actually be able to do the action scenes in Sky justice. As for changes I'd like to see, definitely rebalancing the combat as some of the comments on your post mentioned, and it would be really cool if they added references and foreshadowing to later arcs (without going overboard and changing the story).
So I could go either way on a Sky remake being 3D or the original isometric 2D style. I think either would be fine however if it were up to me I'd go for 2D mostly to reduce the amount of time and resources needed to make that happen so it isn't detracting too much from continuing the main line releases. If the series was complete then I'd say 3D all the way but yeah the main factor for me would be how much do those remakes interfere with the production schedule of the rest of the series. One thing I would change however with that 2D style is removing the free rotation of the camera and going with the fixed/system controlled camera angles that are used in the Crossbell games as that just makes navigating so much easier. Also the addition of a Cold Steel style mini map even if it a toggleable option. It is way too easy to get turned around and get stuck running in circles in the Sky games so that would be the big point of general improvement that I'd make apart from the obvious voice acting. As far as the orbments go I really want a system that is a mix of the Sky and Crossbell games where you have the dedicated quarts that will give you access to certain arts automatically and you have the element counting that Sky and Crossbell use. Each method would give different lists of arts they are pulling from.
I only want 2 things from the sky remakes 1. I want the fight cutscenes still, I want the fights to be fully done, I really need them to be there because they were almost always the highlight of the sky games that didnt really get done that well again imo (Up to Kuro 1 currently, havent played 2) I also hope the play scene from FC stays in its entirity, its amazing (Also, I’m not exactly sure how they’d do the sky SC scene where Estelle dreams of Joshua falling apart like a doll, it works with the chibi style because they already look like dolls, but a real human falling apart might be too far 😆) 2. I really want the old combat still I love the kuro combat, its a great evolution, but I REALLY hope they keep the old system because its fun for me to make actual builds of it, and I’d like to see the new graphics with the old combat If the combat is new, I’ll still play it If the cutscene’s aren’t done the same way, I’ll still play it But these are the 2 core things I would absolutely love to see in the sky remake, it would absolutely fire me back up for the series like I was after finishing SC
They better keep the OG portraits. Bring back portraits Falcom, you cowards! Do we even think Falcom has the resources to put onto full remakes? I personally dont think so, but I hope so Ries is 3d.
The things that the remake needs: Full voice acting - Most likely with the modern VA's More references to future games: Maybe a nod to Johan's "death"? (Then again, in a sense - he did. We know him as "Ash"), and giving Vita a portrait in Sky 3rd (If they stick with portraits) instead of going full 3D Maybe some sort of "Nostalgia" mode - where you can toggle between the graphics of the original games, or the more 3D style of things
what i want them to do with the remake depends on what kind of remake it is, if it's a chibi style then add some tweaks to the combat and visuals, if it's a full on 3d remake then they'll obviously have to change a lot of things, but if that's what they're going with, i personally believe they should do it after the series is done, we don't want the newer games to suffer because half the team is working on a remake, and i honestly wouldn't mind a simple port either
If Falcom were a slightly larger studio or had a second branch, then I could see a Team B working on the remakes while the main team kept chugging along business as usual. I just saw that section of the interview with Kondo where he stated: "But, we still want them to play from the start of the series, and I think there are many people who would want that. We are now preparing something to respond to those concerns and hope to announce it somewhere during the 20th anniversary. So please wait a little longer." which to me, is all but confirming *some* kind of Sky remake/port 👀
I was initially kinda against the remakes being 3D, but I´ve seen someone bring up a good point why they need/should be 3D. Falcom needs to have Liberl ready in 3D, in case they want to show stuff going on there in any future games, so if a remake is happening it would make all the sense in the world to take that opportunity to create those assets. I´ll miss the old look, but at least the original versions will always be here to come back to.
Yeah I hard agree with this, we know that Falcom recently found out how to port over models and other textures from the old Cold Steel engine up to the Daybreak one so remaking Liberl in 3D plus missing characters like Anelace or Richard would make it so Falcom has an easy way to include any past characters and locations they would need for future games or even a grand finale arc type of thing.
I can't believe it... this is a wonderful news. Trails in the Sky FC and SC have a special place in my heart, beign SC the best game I've ever played. I'll definetively buy these remasters.
Graphically and sound wise, I don't have any strong preferences. However, I would like to see the following in no particular order of importance, which also in my opinion does not take away from the story or the progression of the combat units: -NPCs that tie Liberl to future arcs or help with retconning, similar to how Juna was in Azure. -The more politically inclined characters like Olivier or Kloe should elaborate more on their concerns about the other nations to help better foreshadow events -fixing some of the orbal limitations that stopped being an issue in Cold Steel, like allowing one character to have multiple status ailment chances or multiple quartz of a certain buff. -this ties to the prior point, but giving more distinguished strengths and weaknesses in between characters. For example, both Richard and Anelace have crafts that are basically the same, so having distinct effects like stunning or burning that could make it more clear which specialization they have with the eight leaves one blade. Similarly, Mueller and Julia function pretty much the same way, but give Julia more magically inclined sword attacks. This will also allow for a more convincing in story explanation as to why some characters like Zin have very limiting combat units. I still believe Josette was meant to be a sniper or Red mage type of character, but there were technical limitations. -putting markers on the map to avoid missing side quests and possibly hidden quests -this is a stretch, but maybe have post battle banter when certain criteria are met, like chain attacks -quick travel, especially for the shutdown and Liber Arc -streamlining the character swapping in second chapter and balancing levels in the third so characters aren't lagging too far behind -have overworld attacks for preemptive strikes and counterattacking during battles. -sort out the spell menu by types, similar to the crossbell arc. That one was perfect, and arguably better than newer installments
Another great video Cyrus!! I 100% agree with the folks who said to hold off on a remake until the series is officially over. Like they are already in the final stretch with Kai. The last arc of Trails must be done corrently with all the staffs' focus.
As much as I want the Sky games available asap, taking away from future installments is not something I'd want. Although Kondo did just recently say: "But, we still want them to play from the start of the series, and I think there are many people who would want that. We are now preparing something to respond to those concerns and hope to announce it somewhere during the 20th anniversary. So please wait a little longer." So that's very interesting news 👀 if it's going to be announced this soon, then I'd imagine it would be straight up ports, unless they've been working on these remakes for quite some time.
@@Cyrus_Bright hopefully you're on the money about it being already worked on on the side for a while. I fear for the devs' health if they need to push out the remake on top of making the final arc epic.
My preference would be: full 3d, but original combat system preserved, and full english voicelines. Oh and original soundtrack. I think this would make the largest group of people happy
If so, I'm looking forward to it, especially when Kondo has "teased it now a bit more forward" before this video uploaded, so it's more "inevitable". I agree that either something akin to Atelier Marie Remake/Super Mario RPG Remake approach like the charm of the chibis with little bit of modern graphics and UI and new arrangements would be cool, but I'm also not against the whole remaking it all in 3D with Kai no Kiseki graphics and gameplay. When you look like that, Persona 3 Reload basically took some elements of Persona 5 and was essentially that but added some more stuff. I would also be down for remasters if Ys Oath in Felghana Memoire and Ys Foliage Ocean Celecta has taught me anything recently. Also yes we got Kevin back, let's bring back KEFIN!
Ah man, Super Mario RPG remake is another great example! Personally, I'm really attached to the chibi style they went with for the character models so if they just touched up the backgrounds, and gave us the option to switch between Original/Evo portraits & ost that'd be enough for me if they wanted to make any changes to the base game. But the sound of a 3D Liberl is also very tempting... seeing Crossbell in 3D for the first time was a magical experience after playing Zero and Azure. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they cook up!
Not sure about the fast travel thing, since FC hones in "storywise" why the duo "have to travel on foot". For SC though they should just make use of Airships to be more usable when travelling. Kinda like CS 2. Withe the 3d chibi stylized take. I think it will take Falcom longer to make that since they have to basically use a new engine to make those and they have to "learn using these new tools" . Where as Using the Daybreak engine will be more faster since they basically already had a library of already made assets that they can repurpose. The devs also already n=know how to use the engine which is imo allows them to make games faster compared to making a new engine or using new tools to make a new look for a potenctial Sky remake
If they release them before finishing the Trails series I would prefer they just port them to modern systems with some minor enhancements, if they wait until after they finish the series, they can take the time to do full 3d remakes. I don't want them to delay finishing the series to make the remakes.
I would be absolutely fine with a remaster similar in depth and quality as the recent PC/Switch remasters of Zero/Azure done by PH3 games. Given how conservative Falcom is, I highly doubt they'd put them on Xbox too. I'd gladly double-dip if they did though. Right now I already need three different platforms to play the games, what's a fourth.
A sky trilogy remaster that looks like octopath traveler felt good in my ears, its also helps that this style is getting used in recent remasters(the dragon quest that got announced this month), so i think that this style would set a good balance between the essence of the sky games(the chibi characters for example) and the modernization that comes with the remaster. Put some quality of life changes and combat optimization and we are good to go
I'm on "Team Remaster", for a few reasons. 1) I'm definitely worried that modern Falcom would try to make some changes to the original storyline to pander. I really don't want to see the Estelle/Joshua romance story get flushed down the tubes for the sake of waifu wars. 2) I actually prefer the Sky/Crossbell orbment systems over Cold Steel's... and I don't see any realistic outcome where they don't get simplified to fall in line with later releases, regardless of how little sense that would make given the worldbuilding. 3) Given the lack of popularity of Sky the 3rd in Falcom's home market -- it literally ranked #10 out of 10 on Dengeki's big 40th anniversary survey a few years back -- I've got a gut feeling that they might just Falcom might just toss it by the wayside... further cementing the myth that skipping Sky the 3rd is a-okay. On the other hand, remaking the Liberl arc now would guarantee the possibility of revisiting the region in later games, particularly the final game of the Trails series. But ideally, a full-on remake would give us the best of both worlds: modernized retelling of Sky, with the "incomplete" ports of the original included as bonuses, including various QoL updates to mimic XSEED's PC versions.
I would love a $100-$150 box set of everything before Daybreak on PS4/PS5 as a Physical Box, I saw they did a Japanese release with Cold Steel I-IV and Reverie as a Box Set for PS4, but would love an all updated 4K, 60fps and what not PS5 Bundle with everything so I can play start to finish. The Daybreak combat upgrade for past games would be the best!
I just played sky FC and SC for the first time this month as my first trails games... so i would be a little disappointed if they got remade so soon but also it would be great for a replay!
Currently the reason the other versions of TiTs trilogy (ps3, psvita) has not been released in the u.s.physical other than FC is bc xseed owns the translation rights in the u.s. with the remakes hopefully nisa can release them❤
I... do not want a Sky remake. Sure, now they'll have to remake Crossbell kinology and Coldsteel... Endless remake cycle, like Pokemon right now. I just want Sky trilogy with QoL improvements.
Imagine new players starting with sky remake and getting the same feeling of starting from the CS games and going back to Sky og when they get to the CS games. Full remakes in the style of modern games are good. I dont think it would take away from the main series at all. Something like P3 Reload would be just right imo. Should all be 1 game imo, no need to do what FF7R did and try to stretch content. In the end the biggest draw to the series is the interwoven world, theres no reason not to adapt the older games if it means making it easier for players to pick it up. I love the older titles but theyre some of the hardest sells for me. Itd be nice if i can show them a trailer and get their interest. They could even give older players something new to maybe tie the remakes to the next title like have them play key roles in the new entry like guest characters and have the remakes set it up. More Loewe would be nice. Just have FC and SC as the main game and have 3rd as post game.
Looking as a business perspective, fully remaking with the more modern engine and with proper marketing, Falcom could have a Yakuza 0 case on their hands, that game brought more new players than what was the current fan base at the time. Still trying to make sense of the fact that Daybreak didnt appear in the Nintendo Direct, isn't Trails the golden egg for Nisa nowadays?
4:50 I felt personally attacked. 10:30 Hard agree. Not only because I'm championing for chibi style all the way, but as you said. If even one of the biggest companies such as Square Enix takes a very long time to do its proper full 3D remake of an old classic, I'm dreading to imagine what it could mean for Falcom and its 60~ employees. 12:20 Yeah I agree with this too, follow what I just said. 3D modelling is WAY more time consuming than 2D modelling so idk if they can afford to just put some people on it as a side job, given they have to keep on with their 2 main franchises and now that they teased Tokyo Xanadu sequel.... 20:10 Orbment system in older games was top notch. A bit confusing at start but once you get the gist of it it's really fun to play around the system to make your desired build. And yeah having the spell unlock system being built in the lore is great. 22:30 yeah original portraits are BY FAR better than Evo ones. While I'd agree to discuss the OST, I won't budge on this. I feel like they're way more endearing and expressive. If we get full 3D for the remake, that's probably what I'll miss the most. I'd like Falcom to have gone the Persona route with 3D models but keeping 2D portraits for expressions etc. And thank I'm fine I guess, just stressed af because an online friend is visiting me at home next week and it'll be the first time we meet, haha. Hope you're doing fine as well :D
The problem with remaking the Sky trilogy like the newer games is that they would have to remake the rest of the series, which would take forever. They should just port them over to modern consoles.
I just want them to nullify Xseed licensing, then work with NISA to do the voice acting and quality of life updates, and let's get them out there on modern platforms. Quick, easy, and effective.
XSeed only has like 1 year left before they lose the FC to the 3rd rights I remake won't likely happen until 2026 at least for a English version 3x speed + Fast Travel is a must for the 3 sky games.
I’m torn on 3D remake vs keeping the same engine, it’s a huge bet on them being able to capture the same feeling that the originals gave if they did it in 3D. i almost favor more them doing what they did with Zero/Azure, being keep the Japanese Evo voices (and artwork option, please, I know you like the original artwork but I dislike it, the Evo artwork looks just like Zero/Azure and IMO much better, just my preference) - that would be a safe bet and I’d be very happy. if they want to add English, if they want to remake the whole thing, they better do it justice!
If they do the full remake, I feel like they'll inevitably also have to do full remakes of the Crossbell games, at some point. It would be weird to have those 2 games be not 3D, when all of the others are.
Which is why I kinda want simple ports or HD 2D remasters, 3D Liberl would be awesome and the Daybreak style combat could help with early game difficulty. Plus if Liberl gets remade in 3D they could reuse those assets for a later game, or even a prequel. Another comment pointed that out. It would cause some people whiplash though, getting used to 3D and then all of a sudden going to Crossbell in 2D. They do have most of the assets from CS/Reverie so it'd be easier to 3D-ify those two games, but that would still take time and effort. I guess time will tell what Falcom have decided to do.
@@Cyrus_Bright That brings up something else I thought of recently. Everyone's speculating about where the series will end, but there's one place no one ever mentions. What if it ends in Liberl, right where we started? They could use most of the same assets for the remakes and the final games.
@@guruthosamarthruin4459 I made a comment on this the other day actually, that what if the series ends with Estelle and Joshua seeing off their children as they head out to become Bracers. It would end with them walking off into the distance, pan up towards the sky, then title drop "The Legend of Heroes" and then fade to black/credits. It'd be a full circle, and a wholesome way to end the series (while leaving room for potential future games if they decide to pursue them)
Redo the 3d for both Sky and Crossbell. The 3D render for most of Crossbell already done in CS3-Reverie already. Just get some 3d characters and the rest will fall in place.
A Sky remake would be very nice! It would be cool to be able to play the Sky games on modern consoles and for more people to get a chance to play the Sky trilogy!
1:45 True, and I really hope Nihon Falcom doesn't go the SqueerEnix route, messing up their most precious game. The Remakes, or Remasters, should respect the OG story and gameplay, IMO, and just improve the graphics. And Nihon Falcom should also put a leash on its wokalizers at NIS America, who hopefully will not mess around inputing girl boss dubs and queer voices for certain male characters.
There are so many problems with going into the Daybreak engine with this. They would change gameplay, which it's an important point on the narrative of the series. They'll probably do new voices, which means we'll lose a few importan japance voice actors from previous games (Kilika, Sergei, Kevin who has been recast on Kai, among others...). There would be changes to events... we'll get into discussions on which is better to start with, remake or original.... Going from Sky to Crossbell/Cold Steel would feel weird... Sky needs to be remasterd with a few QoL and voices. Maybe a few extra events or restored content here and there in a similar way as they did with Zero/Azure. Regarding the portraits, I do prefer the originals, but I wouldn't mind they went the Ys Memoire route and just add a toggle for the art. Similarly, a toggle for the music would be nice if they redid the soundtrack Sky remake right now would be too much for Falcom to handle by themselves without stoping the momentum with the current plot, unless... they go with the 31 cypress theory and we are not actually in the "last" iteration really... I can see them making a "remake" were Loewe survives... and that would give more significance to the Kai subtitle... I'm not sure how I'll feel about that... Instead, what I would love would be a Yakuza 0 kind of game. Something that acts as a prequel but that at the same time can advance the series and be a prologue game of sorts for Sky.
i think, just getting the crossbell combat, or just removing party members from counting as back attacks, would be best, going from dawn gameplay, into crossbell, would feel like you are going back in time then starting the next arc. as for voice acting, they could do what they done with crossbell and just import the evo voices, i would be fine without an english dub for the single reason of, evo sky, voiced all of the main quests and all of the side quests, compared to crossbell where, they only voiced the main quest, it would be very costly and time consuming to dub everything, unless they do what neptunia series was doing and skimp where they can on english voices while JP has more voiced sections.
Ik it won't happen but the only thing I pray for is a worldwide release, a remake of the first game would be the perfect opportunity for it P.S Also I could be wrong but I'm almost certain I read an interview with kondo that stated that if they ever did do a sky remake it would be in 3D
Having Sky on modern platforms would be INCREDIBLE! I have already played Sky but I really want new people to finally experience PEAK FICTION and if it is fully 3D made in modern Kuro engine even I am buying it, absolutely 100%.
I really do not care a tiniest bit about it being close to the og. To me an authentic remake is a bad remake. All I would want is a proper full remake. all 3 ost options (2 if they dont redo it) and not too many references to the later games that werent already there
Same, still excited to see what direction they choose to go in order to combat this issue. Kondo said we'd get info "soon" but uh... how long is that, I wonder? xD
Dang well sense im still new wanted to give opinion on it im in same boat as you i dont care how it done sky needs to be on modern consoles now if it is full 3d remake off daybreak i think itll be real treat and in terms of this is taking away from main series would delay it i think its fine kondo said kai 75-80% complete i think if sky remakes come itll give team more time to give them time they need to figure stuff out cuase when it comes to trails especially cold steel 4 revire and even kai cast is so overwhelming huge they may have to cut few things i think extra time planning and even figuring things out will only be good for a post kai trails games/future they have ideas if sky gives them some extra time to figure out the endgame id welcome it i believe sky wether it remake or port they will do it justice side note maybe for future comminuty post/video can ask if other games were to get remakes in 3d give it like daybreak or kai engine how far should it go to how many games also if there gonna do more remakes i want zero and Azure to get remakes not cuase it be cool but if sky gets english cast for remakes then it gonna feel really weird and awkward that zero and Azure are only ones that dont even nayuta has one those are my thoughts whatever it ends up being i will support it i believe it time for sky to join ranks of being on modern gaming
It sounds good & all but do they really have that many resources at this time? As much as I would like I don't think its necessary.. All they have to do is remaster & maybe add some great VA.. Then they would be able to focus more on pushing the stories forward.. Maybe in the future I can see full on remakes of every arc
I'd appreciate the first 5 games being modernized up to at least cold steel standards. I've tried to play Sky a dozen times and I just can't get into it; and combat is the biggest issue for me on that front, just not fun to me at all. Subjective and all that; I'm not saying it's bad, but since I can't get any fun out of it, that really makes it limiting to me personally. I've had to watch various videos and recaps on sky through azure as a result, but I just know I missing out on some prime story building.
I only used physical attacks throughout the entire series for the most part aside from slime type enemies. I’m actually kinda disappointed to hear a remake, the charm of the OG graphics is partially why it’s so good. And it takes away dev time to actually just finish the series. I just want a port to new consoles with like higher resolution or something. Sky doesn’t need a remake!
tbh, I don't think I should be asked what's needed for a remake because my dumb ass prefers stuff that looks and sound old and retro, it would just be copy pasted. But I don't want to hold back potential new fans either that don't want to play an outdated game to catch up.
Sky remake will not use action-turn based hybrid battle system (we need to come up with a name for this later, it's too long). Daybreak having a hybrid battle system is because of xipha, the new orbment from calvard that previously not exist in previous arc
Generally speaking you do need to keep lore stuff like Links, the phone mode, Shards and SCLMS as something that was invented later but action combat does not exactly need Xipha to exist in terms of gameplay. I'm assuming Falcom will just rename what the modes are in a Sky remake and the visual effects would either be different or gone, so we'd just have action being "fighting without a plan" and turn based being a coordinated effort by the party with the character jumping back and calling out to the others.
just remastered the trilogy from evo version on vita with graphical choices, bgm choices, jp full voices, no need eng dub.. just consulting with chara-ani and xseed
Luckily XSeedgames ONLY has the dubbing rights expire NEXT YEAR it would take until after that in 2026 to port them over in English on the PS4 PS5 Switch.
Joshua and Kevin protraits are illegally butchered in the Evo versions. Scherazard looks weirdly younger and kinda sort of looks a little........ nevermind
I say port the original game with the evo gameplay for a better S break system. No need for voice acting. Kids these days. Why are they all so obsessed with voice acting? I had zero voiced lines and just used my imagination. Seriously, kids these days. Back in my day we didn't have voice acting in games! Just look at pokemon. It is not necessary at all. Does nobody have imagination these days? Btw, I blocked Dan on the server, because I really do not like looking at some disgusting angry man all the time. He was also being a bit of a douchebag. Kinda like Austria, but worse.
I loved the lack of voice acting too! Although I'm someone that can insert voices into scenes that aren't voice acted. Just a small sample of the English VA's in the battles was all I really needed. I do the same for the rest of the series, so the lack of voice acting doesn't bother me too much (but I do think there are scenes in future games that *should've* been voice acted that weren't, so those do bum me out when I get to them) Also I love the text box noises for the dialogue.
I don’t get showing trailer footage for a game not yet released, for a sequel to a multi hundred hour game that’s barely been out, whilst talking about remakes for the first three game.
@@jacobthompson6210 it matches the context and contains no spoilers, nothing wrong with it at all. It enhances the video when you show relevant footage to details being discussed.
@@Cyrus_Bright you’re 100% correct in terms of “story spoilers” I guess I just need to stay away from trails YT content, because seeing who’s in a game that’s not out yet, is imo a big spoiler. It’s like how FromSoft fans consider bosses spoilers.
IT'S REAL
Guess we are getting one because there was a clip of it on the most recent direct
The sky remake is real! Can we get much higher!
Once SC Remake comes out, we will indeed get higher!
I hope it has english voice acting as good as coldsteels dub
Well, they'll probably bring in the more modern actors - since Sandy Fox has stepped down from being Renne's VA
I only want 2 things from the sky remakes
1. I want the fight cutscenes still, I want the fights to be fully done, I really need them to be there because they were almost always the highlight of the sky games that didnt really get done that well again imo (Up to Kuro 1 currently, havent played 2) I also hope the play scene from FC stays in its entirity, its amazing (Also, I’m not exactly sure how they’d do the sky SC scene where Estelle dreams of Joshua falling apart like a doll, it works with the chibi style because they already look like dolls, but a real human falling apart might be too far 😆)
2. I really want the old combat still
I love the kuro combat, its a great evolution, but I REALLY hope they keep the old system because its fun for me to make actual builds of it, and I’d like to see the new graphics with the old combat
If the combat is new, I’ll still play it
If the cutscene’s aren’t done the same way, I’ll still play it
But these are the 2 core things I would absolutely love to see in the sky remake, it would absolutely fire me back up for the series like I was after finishing SC
They better keep the OG portraits. Bring back portraits Falcom, you cowards! Do we even think Falcom has the resources to put onto full remakes? I personally dont think so, but I hope so Ries is 3d.
well about that… check the direct
The things that the remake needs:
Full voice acting - Most likely with the modern VA's
More references to future games: Maybe a nod to Johan's "death"? (Then again, in a sense - he did. We know him as "Ash"), and giving Vita a portrait in Sky 3rd (If they stick with portraits) instead of going full 3D
Maybe some sort of "Nostalgia" mode - where you can toggle between the graphics of the original games, or the more 3D style of things
what i want them to do with the remake depends on what kind of remake it is, if it's a chibi style then add some tweaks to the combat and visuals, if it's a full on 3d remake then they'll obviously have to change a lot of things, but if that's what they're going with, i personally believe they should do it after the series is done, we don't want the newer games to suffer because half the team is working on a remake, and i honestly wouldn't mind a simple port either
If Falcom were a slightly larger studio or had a second branch, then I could see a Team B working on the remakes while the main team kept chugging along business as usual. I just saw that section of the interview with Kondo where he stated:
"But, we still want them to play from the start of the series, and I think there are many people who would want that. We are now preparing something to respond to those concerns and hope to announce it somewhere during the 20th anniversary. So please wait a little longer."
which to me, is all but confirming *some* kind of Sky remake/port 👀
However, I would like to see the following in no particular order of importance, which also in my opinion does not take away from the story or the progression of the combat units:
-NPCs that tie Liberl to future arcs or help with retconning, similar to how Juna was in Azure.
-The more politically inclined characters like Olivier or Kloe should elaborate more on their concerns about the other nations to help better foreshadow events
-fixing some of the orbal limitations that stopped being an issue in Cold Steel, like allowing one character to have multiple status ailment chances or multiple quartz of a certain buff.
-putting markers on the map to avoid missing side quests and possibly hidden quests
-this is a stretch, but maybe have post battle banter when certain criteria are met, like chain attacks
-quick travel, especially for the shutdown and Liber Arc
-streamlining the character swapping in second chapter and balancing levels in the third so characters aren't lagging too far behind
-have overworld attacks for preemptive strikes and counterattacking during battles.
Although Kondo did just recently say:
"But, we still want them to play from the start of the series, and I think there are many people who would want that. We are now preparing something to respond to those concerns and hope to announce it somewhere during the 20th anniversary. So please wait a little longer."
So that's very interesting news 👀 if it's going to be announced this soon, then I'd imagine it would be straight up ports, unless they've been working on these remakes for quite some time.
I already have the entire series on my platform of choice. PC.
I personally love the conga line 😂
I hope they keep the old artstyle for the portrats i miss that artstyle so much
yeah it had personality. the new style is generic anime.
Similarly, a toggle for the music would be nice if they redid the soundtrack
Sky remake right now would be too much for Falcom to handle by themselves without stoping the momentum with the current plot, unless... they go with the 31 cypress theory and we are not actually in the "last" iteration really...
Ik it won't happen but the only thing I pray for is a worldwide release, a remake of the first game would be the perfect opportunity for it
P.S Also I could be wrong but I'm almost certain I read an interview with kondo that stated that if they ever did do a sky remake it would be in 3D
honestly i want falcom to make games in crossbell and sky styles.
just a simple port will do then we can wait 10 years for the remake localization ;D
Those would be remasters...even with the engine used in Cold Steel, those 3 games will take ages and would be remakes.
All I would want is a proper full remake. all 3 ost options (2 if they dont redo it) and not too many references to the later games that werent already there
I would just be happy with a simple port on consoles.
I've had to watch various videos and recaps on sky through azure as a result, but I just know I missing out on some prime story building.
honestly a remake would be 100% worth it just to see those fight scenes redone
Joshua vs. Loewe would go hard as fuck with the current engine and Falcom's own ability in recent years.
Ok we know who you really are! Derrick! RPG super guy!😉😃
Lol! We do sound kinda similar xD
Good
tbh, I don't think I should be asked what's needed for a remake because my dumb ass prefers stuff that looks and sound old and retro, it would just be copy pasted. But I don't want to hold back potential new fans either that don't want to play an outdated game to catch up.
I think its easier for me to play the remakes than finish trails of cold steel trilogy.
Luckily XSeedgames ONLY has the dubbing rights expire NEXT YEAR it would take until after that in 2026 to port them over in English on the PS4 PS5 Switch.
source ? I can't find anything related to these rights expiration dates
@@marc-ap4699just trust vegh, vegh knows best
I think its more of a remaster they'll be doing
Just port them to consoles. They are great as is.
taking the time and effort to remake them is pointless. they are perfect as they are. they just need more ports
Count me in for buying to replay
Trails in Sky : Kiwami?
They should add an "Olivier Everywhere" system xD
Actually ya a HD 2d remake would be perfect and fuck ys playable leowe let's go
Best thing ever
PLEASE NO EVO OST PLEASE NO EVO OST PLEASE NO EVO OST (or maybe as an option)
Joshua and Kevin protraits are illegally butchered in the Evo versions.
Scherazard looks weirdly younger and kinda sort of looks a little........ nevermind
Someone tell me if it’s real right now. I literally just started it this month.
Oh and they really should fix fc final dungeon, that section was ASS
Why hello there
Ban me? What I do?😭😭😭
you made Gilbert very angy 😤
Was listening to this in the background of editing and then locked in once my comment popped up🤫🧏
real 😌
That's a very HUGE announcement! We Trails fans are eating well! 🤌🏻🔥
