Bruh. "Everyone hates Kei" is the most cap fact I've seen. She "believes" that her classmates hates her, not "Everyone hates Kei" as that notion implies that her classmates hates her as a fact which isn't true since it's all in her head.

Kei and Ayakonoji are able to understand the words conveyed in their eyes, be it positive or negative.
That is soo powerful thing in the worlds to having someone on your side in that school.
The best explanation why Kiyo chose Kei was that, first and foremost, Kei already knows Kiyotaka's true nature (who is cruel and heartless), and she accepts it with open arms. Second, Kei is 50 percent similar to Kiyo and 50 percent completely opposite.
For a comparative side, Kei is worried about herself, it's her wellbeing (since she was tormented), you could say she is a selfish person and this is not much different from Kiyo, Kiyo is selfish (he only cares about himself, although he cares about the people around him, but he is still the priority), this is almost the same mentality as Kei except that Kei prioritizes Kiyo over herself (reference y1v7) while Kiyo prioritizes himself first, second is Kei, Horikita, Hirata and then his close friends (reference y2v5). This means that if there is a time that he needs to forfeit his companion or even Kei for his sake, Kiyo will do as such decisively.
Then half of the very opposite traits are related to Kei's character, who likes to talk, she is great at adjusting, and can adapt to Kiyo so that the atmosphere around them is maintained, which often makes Kiyo feel comfortable around Kei, other than that, this is my closely-held conviction, This striking distinction in nature among Kei and Kiyo likewise makes Kiyo become fixated on observing Kei's development (the case is similar to Horikita), the difference being that Horikita is designed and observed to be the class leader, whereas Kei is the subject of love.
Second, Kei unconditionally loves him, that means she is already in the phase of loving him as he is and will accept kiyo as he is. Kei gave a brief explanation about Kiyo who was actually difficult to put into words however had exceptionally valuable counsel ahead of time, and that in a roundabout way worked on Kiyo's image in his classmates' point of view.
Third, of course, because this Kei is useful in many things that Kiyo needs, that's basically everything Kiyo needs can be obtained through Kei. Starting from information, comfort (kiyo often mentions that Kei and he have similar perspectives, besides that he also feels comfortable around Kei, references Y1V4.5, y2v3, and y2v6), also he can learn things he doesn't know in WR is like love and normal life.
Well, this is an equally important point, as we all know that Kiyo likes to observe other people and make judgments so that he can know for sure how someone will respond to him. In fact, of the many subjects, Kei is one of the characters that is sometimes beyond Kiyo's prediction. There have been many incidents in LN, but the most recent one was in Y2V7 where Kiyo thought as Kei's boyfriend would always expect to see him act cool and could do everything perfectly, but Kei casually said that seeing Kiyo's clumsy side was a satisfaction for her. Indirectly, Kei doesn't care about Kiyo's failure (this is surprising, Kiyo is basically always trained to be number one. That failure is something he has never experienced or known) and also everyone (WR instructor) always expects perfection from him.
Of course, Kiyo didn't expect this side of her. Essentially, Kei only wanted to see Kiyo for what he was. I feel that is a significant point that individuals frequently neglect about how their relationship develops till this extent. Little thing, indeed, however exceptionally crucial.

Never liked her until her "heroic" cold storage scene, kinda reassured everyone that her biggest flaw which was her lack of devotion and loyalty was just misunderstood and she could easily be trusted if she really likes you. She was always portrayed as the stereotypical high school girl thats materialistic, lacks substance, latches on to whoever was most beneficial to her at the time, bit of an air head, has a poor attitude etc... But thats just an act she has on the surface, deep down she appears to be pretty normal with high levels of loyalty and able with withstand more pain than the average highschool girl. Went from a 3/10 to a 8+/10 in an instant.
there's so much well writement in her character, an easy 10/10 character that almost no one come close in the cast. btw read the LN if you're an anime only, she's much better than the anime adaptation portrayed her
