Hi Ryan, I just want to pick your brain on a something. When you do a dumbell overhead press, how low should you bring the elbows? Should the humerus go below horizontal? I've heard this can be damaging to the rotator cuff. The top of the press is often debated, but rarely the lower part of the press. I'm under the impression that in the overhead press there should be a 'shrug' (activation of the traps). The upper trap contraction upwardly rotates the scapula, pulling the acromion away from the humeral head and preserves the subacromial space. I'm wondering whether taking the humerus below horizontal at the bottom of the movement would stress the tendons.

Was think more teres major and lat tight
Philip Hernandez they could be tight it’s definitely possible, but it may not always be about tightness
