    I absolutely love this! Thank you so much for all these incredible videos on fall gardening and drip irrigation systems!!! I can't wait to do this, I actually have been getting a lot of pots on sale and now have spread my garden from the yard to the pots. This is perfect! But I have been eyeing those smart pots, they just seem so easy. And I use those jiffy peat pellets on a regular basis, I share everything that I learn here on your channel with my family and friends and even people at wal-mart, when they ask me about the things I'm buying lol. Didn't realize a lot of people don't know how to garden or anything about it, I always refer them to here. Always looking forward to your videos, new and old ones!

And thanks so much for spreading the word about how easy it is to grow your own food and supporting me by sharing my videos! Keep me posted on the progress of your garden and let me know how your drip irrigation install goes. Stay tuned for next weeks video on installing a timer to automate your system.

    Kim, you and Paladin did a wonderful job explaining how to set up the DIG. OOPS...did I say Paladin. I meant to say Stu. I thought I was looking at Richard Boone😊. QUESTION??? I yse this system in short containers but I couldn't get enough water pressure to go up onto my 3 feet tall elevated garden boxes. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for this video.

    Hi CaliKim, I was wondering if you have an idea how I can install a drip irrigation on my apartment balcony without a outside faucet? My apartment balcony does not have a faucet... so I'd have to figure out a way to get the water source like from the kitchen... or maybe from a water bucket?

    Great video, but I question the need to flush the tubing. Why would you need to, unless you were dragging the cut ends through the dust and the dirt where would it pick up internal debris? Perhaps you think the manufacturing process leaves behind little particles of plastic that could plug the emitters? But if you must flush then flush.

    If I may I would recommend using the Rain Drip Universal Adapter (Smart Loc) couplers to join the 1/2" or 5/8" tubing instead of the compression connectors . The universal connectors are reusable and fit either 1/2" or 5/8" tubing. I have also never had a leak using them.

    CaliKim, I enjoy your videos! This one, however, I got a bit of a giggle. You’re in ultimate casual clothes and have this glamorous hairstyle. That just made me giggle. I just thought that was so cute. Lol. What you do reminds me of me! Hahaha. I am bad for wearing “comfy clothes”, but I always wear an updo of some sort and I love me some bling barrettes! Lol. My husband doesn’t mind, so it’s all good; but I am aware I am not matching my hair to my attire at times. The only thing you were missing was some chandelier earrings and a dress and you’d be ready for a night out with your hubby! ;)
    I hope you don’t take offense, I am not meaning this comment as negative in any way. I just couldn’t help myself and had to comment, because I am glad to know I am not alone in doing that!!!! Hahahaha
    Thanks for the videos! Drip irrigation is new to me this year and I can’t wait to use it! I learned a lot with this.

    By the way, I love your videos. I have 525 sq feet of raised boxes and they are all over the yard. Would I use one long hose and punch into that one for each of the garden boxes? Also is your next video #6. I use drip hoses, but they spring leaks, really big leaks every 2-3 years and have to be replaced. How long would your hoses last?

    • @CaliKim29
      @CaliKim29  8 років тому

      Hello - glad you are loving the videos - hopefully they are helping you grow more of your own food. Yes, you can extend the 1/2" polytubing to each of your garden beds and punch our 1/4" line from there. It's just as easy to install in a raised bed, you can see how we did this in this video, ua-cam.com/video/rmRaMSQWEFY/v-deo.html.
      I've not had a problem with big leaks, and I've had my main garden drip system in for 4 -5 years. I do live in an area where we get little frost. If you liven a cold climate, its best to drain your hoses before you get a hard freeze to minimize damage to the hose. When you do get a leak, you can replace just the sections of the hose that leak. You don't have to pull out the whole thing. Yes, the next main video in the series is #6, Installing a Drip Irrigation Timer, very important to automate your system for consistant water, ua-cam.com/video/y5O3tdD1yxA/v-deo.html. Let me know how it goes!

    How did you hook the line for the radishes. Did you go off the same hose from the 1st round bed?

    • @CaliKim29
      @CaliKim29  8 років тому

      yes, we punched a separate hole in the 1/2" polytubing, hooked in a a 1/4 " supply line (without emitters), ran that to the radishes, then connected a 1/4" drip emitter line, which we then circled around the soil in the container, as you saw on the video. Hope this helps!

      Hello Bethany - of course you can use your hose if you like. I have found that having a drip irrigation system in my garden not only frees up my time to do other gardening tasks, but is the key to the plants getting the consistent water they need to be productive. Otherwise, I forget to water, or am not sticking to a consistent watering schedule and they just don't seem to produce as much. But certainly do what you prefer! Thanks for stopping by!

      +Bethany McGee ha ha , got it. You will want to purchase a splitter that screws on to your hose bib. You can then screw two hoses to the splitter one hose just for connecting to your drip irrigation system and one hose to use in the garden. Hope this makes sense!

      I use a Clicker lighter, to loosen it up, then quickly wiggle in the connector! Let me know, Betty!

    Thanks great video and you are very beautiful looking lady. So no ring on your finger does that mean you are available?

      Hello Grampysmurf - glad you enjoyed the vid! I've been happily married for 30 years - in fact my husband is the Camera Guy! I don't wear my ring when I garden since i am usually elbow deep in dirt and don't want to get it dirty. Are you installing drip irrigation ? Super easy, saves time, takes the guesswork out of it. Thanks for watching!
