Pricking Out Tomato Seedlings & Getting Ready for Cooler Weather

Temperatures are dropping this week, so I cover my crops outside with fleece. I also sow some lettuce and prick out tomato and Pak Choi seedlings.

😂 I keep putting off pricking out but if I don’t do it soon I’ll have no tomatoes 🍅. We are due same types of temps here too 🤦🏼‍♀️ but luckily not a lot outside yet except peas and flowers. Looking good there Jase and getting it done 💪. Hope it’s not too cold and weather gets better soon, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦

Thanks Ali. Everything should be fine at 4c. Its if the met office has screwed up and it drops well below we have a problem.

I do the same...a little fleece goes a long way even with the cold tolerant plants. I have about 3" of snow again here in Chicagoland. Oh well that's what happens here. I just got really spoiled by the 2 weeks of mild temps. I'm going to try to make Sunda'y's live this time.

Its starting to get a bit hectic in the greenhouse now for you and just what we need, a cold snap after all this mild. Hopefully not too prolonged. Juggling trays in the greenhouse is the spring fun job 🙂

Hi Mike. Yes it’s busy. One thing about a cold snap is it could kill off a few pests.

We have quite high winds tonight. Was thinking of putting up my cheap little green polytunnel to put buckets of potatoes in to protect from the cold but may have to hold off for a bit.

Hi Mags. Unless my potatoes were up out the compost or it’s going to get down to freezing I’ll leave them. Could always cover them with a tarp to be safe.

Hi. Yes it was Wilkos £7 each. But I think the stores are now closed.

My local Aldi has them for €6:99 atm. In Ireland. Don't know if ye get the same stock in at the same time. Worth checking out.
