How to put on a kneeskin 101:
1. Try to get it over your hips
2.Go into rage mode because it doesnt go over your hips
3. *intense yelling and sobbing*
4. pray to whatever force can get it over your hips
5. somehow it goes over your hips
6. rage for another 10-15 minutes because you cant get the straps on
7.after 10-15 minutes of intense help from friends and a loss of our will to live the straps are on
Oh yeah and when your skin is wet it takes 1235x longer
And then you need to pee.

after watching this video, I was confident that I could put my first kneeskin on. got it on, but when I took it off I ripped it. it looks a lot easier than it is! lots of sweat and tears but not so much blood (;

The time it took to put on my race suit was the reason I eventually gave up using it. :/ I'm impressed you managed to get it on as fast as that. I remember my girl teammates complaining endlessly 😆
+Thomas Young Ha! It really does typically take longer than this. Being completely dry really helps! I was almost late for finals one night trying to get this thing on after warm-ups! I have heard that because the NECK of the female Speedo LZR X suit does not stretch, this is way harder to get on than most. Don't know if that's true, but that's what I've heard. I really like it though. Once it's on, it's actually very comfortable because the straps don't dig into my shoulders. -Z

As a swimmer I do agree that these swimmers take time to gwt on as I have all most mist a race because of it. One tip when you are not racing have the straps of and have the rubber rolled up to prevent redness and tenderness
Yes, I do this all the time! I prefer to just roll up the rubber around the legs since I find it stretches out the straps to have them pulled down for too long. But for quick relief, it’s definitely helpful!!👍🏻👍🏻

Use butter or Olive oil. Attached it to a fixed object keeping it open ,then climb up a latter after butter is applied and jump in .

Wow! You put that on pretty darn fast! (Since your dry tho) When I'm wet, my mom needs to help me and she literally lifts me off the ground for the hip part. I'm not that light....but I must admit, my kneeskin is a size 18. 12 sizes down my practice suit..... Cool vid! :)

omg that makes me feel so much better about the one i bought! I looked at the size chart and it said i was a 21 and i got it for christmas, but i was afraid it would still be too small. I am also a size 30 in practice suits 😂

+The swimmers life I get most of my swim gear from SwimOutlet. Here are the two suits (fastskin and aquablade) that I use when I'm not wearing my kneeskin. :) The Aquablade is very stretchy so I buy mine two sizes below my practice suit size. For the fastskin, I go one size below my practice suit size.

When passing the shoulder strap through the shoulder, you can wear and take off alone by passing the towel through the shoulder strap and lifting the shoulder strap. I use it because ASICS sells a well-slipped cloth dedicated to letting the swims pass easily to the waist.
I have a question..... so where I am, there is no swim shop to go shopping at..... so do you have any tips or tricks to tech suit shopping online
GraceTheSwimGuru 101 I would recommend measuring yourself and comparing that to a sizing chart, the most important measurement is the hip measurement. I hope this helped!!

I am getting a speedo lzr elite this year..... what would you rate these suit on a scale from 1-20???
I would probably give it a 15/20, mostly because the sides frayed and almost ripped, and the compression isn't the best when compared to my Engine kneeskin. The Engine suit is a lot cheaper ($300), but I would still recommend it instead. 🤗 I hope this helps!

I'm looking kneeskins. I was in the store and I was about to buy this one but I didn't because I wanted to be 100% positive that I wanted this suit. I read some reviews and more than half of the reviews said that their suit ripped when they were pitting it on or that it is only good for 3 or 4 races and then it just gets so stretched out and it doesn't work like it's supposed to. I was just wondering if you have had these problems because I'm really stuck and don't know which kneeskin to get. I really want this one but I'm really scared it won't be worth all the money and that I'll just rip it or it will last only 1 race.
Make sure you get fitted properly. Every kneeskin brand fits everyone's bodies differently, so setting up a try-on appointment at your local swim shop is well worth the time and will make sure this suit fits you properly. I have seen some people rip this suit at meets before, and I'm guessing it's because the suit was either too small or didn't fit properly, but it never happened to me since I did get fitted. I'm also extremely careful with it when I take it on and off. :)
I have worn this suit for four championship meets and it didn't stretch out TOO much. It did stretch out a little, as expected from a racing suit, but not so bad I can't wear it anymore. I just got a new kneeskin (mentioned in my SwimLifeGuru Haul video: ua-cam.com/video/-FbxW6wQ5yg/v-deo.html) so I'm going to be wearing that one for finals at my championships from now on, and moving my Speedo one to prelims since it's not new anymore ;). I'm planning on doing a review on my Speedo soon, but as a spoiler... I would definitely recommend it! Hope this helps!! :)

xxswimmingxx i just got this suit. ITS AMAZING for one meet max then it stretches wayyyy too much for 500 dollars. i got the correct size. not worth it
xxswimmingxx the only kneeskin I have ever had is the speedo lzr pro and it works great!!!! And it is very affordable!

+Judy Rossiter I have had mine for a year and I know it's way past its life time, but it doesn't look worn out. The special coating is definitely gone but it's still tight and good for smaller meets when you don't want to wear a fastskin or kneeskin. Hope this helps! :-)

+Judy Rossiter I wish I could help with that, but swim suit sizing is so personal. For my Aquablade, I usually go two sizes down from my practice suit size. I only go one size down for my Fastskin because it's not as stretchy as the Aquablade. :-)

Ok so I know I am late to the party but I had a few questions. How much longer does it take when you are wet? Do you wear a swimsuit under it or is that just for youtube reasons? Is it normal to feel lightheaded when wearing one? And what is a good starter racing suit?

Dang it literally takes me 40 minutes to put mine on when I’m dry, but I have a closed back so that might be it.
Yes! I tried on a closed-back suit and it took freaking forever to get on😂 I didn’t get it because I couldn’t deal with the lack of movement❤️
What fastskin do you recommend that is under $200?

Do kneeskins ever cut of the circulation in you legs? I just recently ordered one and I have never had one 🙃 Also do they feel super tight when on?
Suuuuuuuper tight, yes😂 Mine will sometimes make my legs a slightly purple shade, but only when I’m sitting down for a while. Once I warm up and walk around it doesn’t happen. 👍🏻
This is the suit I am getting it is on the lower price/quality end it was originally more expensive than the Arena one you reviewed but it was half off! 😏

This suit ended up ripping after a few meets and isn’t my favorite suit. My favorite is my Engine Wingskin (I have a review on it) and I wore it for about 6+ meets! It’s best not to keep a kneeskin on for hours without swimming (between prelims and finals for example), but just make sure you have enough time for the suit to fully dry or you won’t be able to get it back on!!❤️
Don’t blame you, it’s crazy expensive. I actually bought one and never used it. With all reviews I regret i ever bought it.

Idk if taking it off is easier. I have an arena power skin carbon air 2 and it’s pretty easy to get on bc of how it made, but getting it off my hips is a nightmare. I stand there for abt 5 minutes there.
ijust got that suit and i got it in a 24 when my normal practice suit is a 26. i tried puttingit on and could barely get it over my thighs even though it said my size was even small. is this nirmal?
Did you try arena carbon flex or maybe powerskin beacause my parents said I can get only something under 200$ and I just dont know :(

Also the BlueSeventy NeroFit kneeskin is about $170-190 and I’ve heard they’re really good suits. If you end up getting the BlueSeventy one, let me know what you think of it! Hope this helps!! 😘🖤

Ordering online based on a size chart is a little risky, though (considering how expensive it is!), so I highly recommend a try-on appointment instead. :) It would suck if you ordered the suit online and it was too big/small!

Kneeskins are single sized (e.g. 22, 23, 24, 25) so you definitely have to go down quite a few sizes. I can't stress enough that you need to set up a try-on appointment at your local swim shop for the first time so you buy the correct size. With the amount of money you are spending on these suits, you want to make sure you're getting the right size. :)
Sweat size is yours? Mine is a 26 and the measurements say it should fit but it took my mom and I a half hour to put on and then 10ish to take off! And I previously ripped my 25 and it just doesn't go on the way yours does. And u can see through the top part and my nipples were nearly visible! I have an away meet with out her and I don't what to do!
I wear a size 26 practice suit and I went down two sizes for this suit and got a 22. When I first got this, it took me about 15 minutes to put on (in this video I had already worn it to several meets so it was a little easier to get on here) It shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to put on, so I think your suit might be too small. :( It really helps to set up a try-on appointment at your local swim shop so you can try on the different brands to see which one fits best... The size charts are not always accurate. I hope this helps!!
I just got mine today and I got a size 20 XD what was I thinking!!! My measurements do fit to the size chart and I am so annoyed because it took me 30 mins to get it up to my hips and it can't go up anymore :( When you ripped your 25, did you get a refund or did all that money go to waste??? I need to return mine but I ordered it just about 30 days ago so I'm not sure I will have enough time to return it and even so, I still don't know what size to get!!!

Also do you reccommend trying it on with baby powder because i'm worried they won't let me return (not sure if baby powder stains !!)
i wear a practice suit size 28 and i wear a size 18 for the blueseventy nerotx. i got mine fitted, and it takes me an hour to put it on. do you recommend that i get a larger size?

Hi there. Thank you for making this video. We watched your video first and then I tried helping my daughter into her brand new lzr. Just like yours. It wouldn't even go above her thighs. I bought it one size larger according to her measurements and it still didn't fit. It looked nothing like your video. 😢
+Cat of All Trades I went through this exact same thing with the TYR kneeskin!! It wouldn't go over my thighs/hips either! You have to find the right kneeskin for your body shape, so I would recommend setting up a try-on appointment at your local swim shop so you can see what brand fits best. Hope this helps! :-)

Judy Rossiter i have one. ive worn it 3 times and its already unusable. it stretched soooo much!!! its not worth 500 dollars at all!!!!! i got the correct size i went to a store and tried it on. took me 30 mins the first time and 10 mins the other 2 times and it shouldnt have stretched that much. but given most kneeskins do stretch but ive had the lzr racer x for less than 2 months.

Hi! To be very honest, some advise from one swimmer to another. If u would wear a closed back u could go at least 2 sizes smalles, it would fit better around your belly.

my club is sponsored by arena but I wear speedos because arenas don't fit me yet. but I have to wear an arena for sectionals so we will see how that goes... 😬
My club in Australia is not sponsored by any one and I wear blue seventy knee skin it takes me around 10 minutes to get on wet or dry
I don't understand these suits wouldn't you be faster just wearing a regular one piece suit that's tight. I mean it would cause more drag the more clothing you wear
The theory is that the material is slicker (glides through the water faster) than your own skin

It might be because your suit is too small, but it also takes a lot of patience to pull it up inch by inch. ;)
Isn't that uncomfortable for video purposes wearing two suits like that? I remember even two normal suits feeling really tight.
+ckimswims No, actually the blue aquablade that I'm wearing underneath is SUPER comfortable. I only wear it for non-championship meets because it will wear out too fast.

I'm never wear this type of swimsuit, including legskin. During competition im always wear speedo highcut powerback swimsuit, because its cheap, sexy, and easy to wear.

It really did take me 10 minutes, but I can't imagine why anyone would want to see that in regular speed!?!? It's incredibly boring! :-) I sped it up to make it more interesting to watch! LOL :-) Maybe next time I'll put my phone where everyone can see the stopwatch running. It really should take longer than ten minutes, I completely agree.
