Just found this. Been playing on repeat on spotify all day. It builds so well, and the groove just makes me want to get up and move. The performance is on point, and I love the low dynamic piano solo at the end. The energy is just unreal throughout the whole song. I can groove to this forever.
I was blessed to hear these beautiful musicians on back to back days in Columbia, MO and St. Louis, Sept 12 & 13, 2021. I've been a drummer since 1963 and have played all genres of music, but watching these creative, energetic musicians has positively impacted my musical life. Dan, thanks for the time you gave me at both venues. Love you, man! I will follow y'all forever! May God continue to bless your group as you bless others. Bruce Fleming
This ithe true beauty of UA-cam - I tripped over this band last night (early this morning - insomnia) having never heard of them. I really liked the playing - but here the arrangement is unbelievable. Sounds like one of the big band charts of the 70s. All the solos are first rate, but being able to play both sousaphone and trumpet like that is pretty special, and Ott on trombone manages to bridge a whole bunch of styles in his rhythm section playing and his solo - the improv takes all the lines you might have found in bop, some of the Jim Pankow nuances a la Chicago, and effects that sound completely in line with contemporary pop vocalists - that's a whole lot of work for tubing with a slide. Thinking about going to check them out at the old Harbor Lights in Boston, but $500 for VIP tent? Yowza. For a group I never heard of before, them's some pretty steep prices. Guessing - you guys go to Hunter College?
Hey Raymond!! Thanks so much for checking out the band! The show you're referring to in Boston is actually us opening up for the rock band O.A.R. (which Jon also plays in). We'll be doing a short trio set (Jon, Dan, Chris) to open up shows during that whole June tour. We are working on getting the full band back to Boston soon, hopefully in the fall! In the mean time, stay up to date on all of our new music/tour dates at www.huntertones.com! PS: We went to The Ohio State University, where we lived on a street called Hunter Avenue :)
@@Huntertones Ah... I was so sure about the Hunter College bit... ah well... I'm old. But as unhip as I am, I forwarded your vids to my tuba teacher son, my trumpet teacher son, my bass trombone playing grandson, my alto/tenor sax playing granddaughter, and my wife and I sat around listening to your stuff today. Really neat - reminded me of first listening to Tower Of Power back in 1970 Monterey (yeah, I know - very different, but way out on the edge). Keep making great music and thanks for the note.
I get to play this song in my high school's jazz band, and it's my favorite song I've played so far!
The key board lick at 6:24 is straight gold, I've only replayed that 10,000 times
These guys came to my high school a number of years ago and I’ve never forgotten about how talented they are! Good stuff boys hope you’re doing well!
I just met these guys in Nigeria! I've never heard something so beautiful! Come back again please! Love from 🇳🇬
