What a great initiative from the Portuguese. Cannot love this enough...The only online search encouraging you to trust yourself to learn and progress into the sport. Maybe one of the few sports in the world where paramount safety cannot be overlooked before you step in the water. Thank you for your input

The video actually encourages you to have lessons and alerts you to the dangers of not doing so. But in case you do how to proceed to mitigate it the most.

My friend had the worst gear. Crappy Eclipse kite he had to pump up every 10min and his bar was awful and old but he achieved learning to kiteboard

When i started, the kites were even harder to learn, and i managed. It is possible to learn with any kite. It is just more challenging and can be more painful. Pumping every 10 minutes is very painful!

I bought a 8 and 10 m ozone catalyst used and 9 years old to learn. One bar is ok one is too old and I don't trust.. think the lines could snap. So far I am improving and I am at starting and going both ways but no transition yet. However I have only done for 10 days. Board was also cheap and bit rusty. I manage to stay under 700euro for all. After seeing another video about board handle I am thinking to unscrew it from mine.

Those catalyst are old. You can learn on them but for sure it will not make it faster. Boards are ok if they are cheap as they usually last for a long time and there is no crazy improvement on them. Use the board as it is just don’t touch the handle. Once you realize you don’t need it take it off.

It seems fairly common that people try to save money and buy a used kite they know nothing about. I was concerned that I would destroy my new kite in the learning process, but so far, with all the crashes on water or sand, it is still in good shape!

If it was already used and abused, breaking it in the learning process is actually higher. Not to mention that usually older kites perform worse and do not help you improve. It just makes your learning progress harder. In the schools you get advice from the instructors, so you make a good purchase.

If you cant kitesurf with a trainer it's not a trainer. Honestly . Your so dramatic and always negative it's like kitesurf is always almost going to kill you. You really need to change that attitude.. it's so wrong. You scare me!! I'm afraid to fly a kite now !! It's going to hurt me or cost me thousands. Also why is it always fly a kite at the beach ?
Parks are much better to learn in
