Fun fact: The fact Vakama managed to create the mask of time means his level of expertise in mask-making is on par with the Great Beings themselves.
I’ve always thought that was such a cool detail, it just goes to show that anyone in Bioncle can become legendary at something they work hard enough at regardless of what species they are. Vakama created something just as impressive and advanced as the people who literally created him and the universe he lived in.
The fact that "Vahara" was posed like Dio, a character that can stop time, is frankly hilarious.
He's a JoJo fan, so it's absolutely intentional
A good choice, since both franchises features power gained from wearing masks (even though JoJo dropped that aspect as it went on)
Fun fact: The orange version of the Vahi represents it after having fallen into the sea and being eroded by the seawater (It had also cracked, and was leaking time energy into the water around it, requiring Vakama to fix it while still underwater).

@@sebastianlawless8707i built a normal space marineand a terminater(curves are hard to build,i built 3 kinds like the lore,but just the 40k 1=i cant build the capappacki should pad stuff/dont know how yet.) and the multron/vican and the bat mucata=only with parts i have,
i just dont have a mukuta mask=only part that it wont look the same=other then colours,(i dont know how people get so many bionicles and build a mostly silver or mostly blue bionicle,mine are random.).
I always though the orange Vahi looked like cheese, particularly a rather strong cheese, probably why I always preferred how it looked in gold.
Can you believe Bionicle G2 had a Mask of Time in the novels that is the upper half of this Vahi, would be an awesome compatible throwback if it ever made it in a set, but at least we have the fans who made them.
They were actually planning on making it a real piece but they never got the chance to before G2 was canceled. Just like the Mask of Ultimate Power that never got made but was featured very prominently in the story and has since then even been featured as an Easter egg on a sticker in a Ninjago set
I wish Toa Ekimu and Umarak Destroyer came with Gold and Black MoUPs respectively
I might be mistaken but if I remember correctly the orange version of the Vahi could also be found in mask packs around 2001. at least the packaging advertised it on the European versions

I've got the orange Vahi mask with the Lego magazine or the Bionicles comics in France back in the 2000s.
For the longest time, I thought that Pohato Phantoka's mask was essentially an adapted form of the mask of time.
I call it a Budget Vahi
I actually own 1 my grandaddy got it for me from a Lego Charity event out in Long Beach. It's by far one of my favorite pieces in my collection

The Orange Vahi looks so good.
I had some of the orange ones! :D They were distributed as promotional goodies in 2002 for subscribing to an official Fanclub in German-speaking countries in Europe. (called 'BIONICLE X-Pert')
I managed to get the orange variant of the Vahi in a big mask bundle that came with the old Takanuva set. Score!
I thought it was funny that the title is “the Bionicle mask you don’t own” because after reading it I literally looked straight up at my wall where I have it displayed with my mask collection. I don’t have a very big mask collection but I was lucky enough to come across a Vahi for pretty cheap a few years ago. I can’t remember exactly how much it was but I think it was around $15 USD which was too good to pass up. It’s just the orange one but it’s still a really cool piece. I’m still trying to come up with a good moc to put it on though

Oh yeah, I’ve got one of the gold versions. It’s my favorite mask, I used it all the time as a kid on basically anything I did.

At least in the US, the special edition Vahki were exclusive to Target.
Let's also not forget to mention you can create movie Makuta's face with this and a Pakari.
I managed to snag one of those tubs from Toys R Us back in the day, and I still have it somewhere in storage with nearly all of the pieces.

I actually have one of these masks from one of the Vahki sets! Unfortunately the mask has quite a few stress marks now, I played a lot with it 20 years ago.
As for the packaging, my Bionicle canisters were all thrown away a couple of years ago - so I have no idea what it looked like.
The Vahi and the Ignika were both Kanohi from the original run of Bionicle I was never able to get my hands on as a kid simply because they were both beyond my parent's financial reach. One was an exceedingly popular Titan set and the other was a bit trickier to get a hold of, especially if you weren't actively looking for it or knew _where_ to look. I did technically get a hold of the Ignika in the Glatorian Mata Nui set, but- I never counted that one because it was redesigned and shaped for the Glatorian heads. It wasn't until Bionicle G2 that I finally got my hands on the Mask of Creation, and then a good while after _that_ that I finally got my hands on a Vahi and silver Ignika courtesy of Bricklink. And once I did, once I had the trifecta assembled, it really was a fulfilling moment for me, because I could finally call myself a cool kid, I could finally say _"I owned a Vahi, Ignika and the Mask of Creation"_
it's a bit of a shame we never got to see an official G1 version of the latter- at least prior to the MOC contest for Artahka, and even then, I'd need access to a 3D printer for that, but
we got it eventually, and for that I will always be thankful

I've always wanted this mask. I ended up 3d printing one in the end as they were never released in the UK.
I actually found the flat dark gold Vahi at a Bricks and Minifigs. They had a table set up with randomly assorted Technic, Bionicle, and CCBS pieces. The idea was to fill a ziploc bag and pay for whatever you could fit in the bag (kinda like Pick-a-Bricks cups). I found the Vahi buried among the other pieces, but not the disk. I think I paid $20 for the whole volume of the bag (it's been a few years, so I don't remember the exact price).
Was rather lucky enough to find a copy of one of the vahki sets that included the gold vahi for less than ~$30 a little while back. I had one from a lot of parts I found at an antique shop prior but lost it not knowing what it was. Oh well, happy to have both a gold and orange one now.

I now have from Bionicle G1 - The Mask of Light, Kopaka Phantokas' Mask, Nokamas' and Hakanns' masks, and also Carapars' head piece, and I am really happy with all of them, but I am still yet to get to building with all that new stuff, I GUARANTEE you I WILL get to it I promise, it's just school and stuff kinda hinders that a bit, me having ideas for videos from all sides of things and just not wanting to use the pieces without showing them off before hand, because it's kind of a big deal to me, I mean, ever since I watched one of your videos and you showed Carapar, with those unique double infused mold pieces or what not, the weapons and all else, I was like "man would that be so cool if I had that" and now I DO, I love the dual usability with those armour pieces, they're great, and Phantoka Kopakas' weapon is SICK, not to mention the 4 silver zamospheres', the weapons on Nokama and Hakann, just... HOT DANG (as you say)
Yep, i have an orange Vahi somewhere in the back of my closet. I got it from the Lego Promo booth at San Diego Comic Con.

I had one of the Vahki sets with the Gold Mask. Sold it to a buddy along with other Bionicle sets since the ball-joint connectors get too brittle to reuse, and he collected them.
The mask of time also played a very pivotal role in multiple og bionicle storylines, which makes this mask a must own for any collector
I bought my orange Vahi on its own, and got a used limited edition Vorzahk with the gold Vahi and disk of time

I have the gold version of the mask actually. Found it on eBay when I was like 6. My brothers didn’t believe that there was really a mask of time piece
I have (Maybe, last I knew they were in storage) these masks. I got the orange one through the Proto Squad club thing that LEGO did. I also got a silver Krana through them. I definitely also got the pieces tub. Maybe one day when I get my own house I can sort out my stuff, see if I find everything again.
Still haven't got a Vahi of either variation, but I do remember seeing the Vahki packaging variation on store shelves. Same goes for the Rahkshi that had Shadow Kraana.
I do actually have one of these gold Vahi that I got from an ebay listing of that bionicle parts tub about 10 years ago, guess I'm luckier than I thought!
Hmm, I just checked. Vakama basically just kept the thing in a closet on Metru Nui after they all moved back there. Apparently, Voparak eventually just yoinks it.
I know it's dangerous if it breaks or falls into the wrong hands, but still. Especially after the Mahri were in a *race against time.*
You’re right, I don’t own it. But I used to! I had one in high school, but then my family moved and one of my boxes of Lego was lost, and I’ve never seen it again. I don’t want to talk about it any more 😂

I just won this one a few days ago in EBay. I had the dark gold Vahi along side the disk of time from a movie edition of a Vahki for a while. I prefer having the gold version so I didn’t see myself getting the orange one. Then I saw an eBay listing with the orange Vahi along side 6 random Metru Nui disks for a starting bid of $10. I guess nobody noticed it because I won the mask with a bid of $13. I’m not a mask collector, but I couldn’t pass up getting a semi rare mask for a low price.

Interestingly, the orange one was more expensive on eBay back in like 2006. Either way, I don't consider the Vahi to be especially rare, especially not back in the day since it was so easy to get. It might've been different overseas but the Vahki sets with the mask were pretty common in the States, one of the comics advertised it in the back.
As a kid I did get the gold Vahi with one of the Metru Nui comics. I also got the disc of time with another one of the comics. So that was also one way to get them, at least in Scandinavia. Unfortunatly the sides on my mask have bent a little, so they stick out a little more than they are supposed to.
Even the orange ones are like 5 dollars US now. The big reason why it costed so much recently is someone hoarded a ton of them.

I have a canister for a Zadakh that claims to have included the Vahi and disk of time, but I got the set used so it's only a fancy can detail.
I have it somewhere along with a couple copper masks from the toys r us promotion
I did got both mask of times in a Mask lot of 17 mask on eBay Australia for around $100, snice I wanted both of them plus some other mask that I don't own yet.
I am very glad that I got both the golden and rusted mask of times for my growing Bionicle Collection that I have been building snice 2023.
I bought two in dark gold for my self moc. They're on the tips of his Mata feet, similar to Pohatus feet.

I own two of those movie vahi Vahki, just came across them a while back. Only one still has the packaging but it's silly how "unspecial" they are
I begged my mom to buy me one off eBay as a kid. 😂 I had to have gotten it in 2006-2007, one of the final months of my Bionicle craze.
(I bought the 2004 gold one years later as an adult)
They also sold the mask in mask packs that had multiple masks in them.

I had this in gold but my sister hated my bionicles, she would take off the heads and steal them and store them or throw em away when i was a kid, she did this with my hordika collection, my toa metru collection i had keetongu,roodaka, and whatever red guy was named, my mahri collection, my baraki collection, and all my original inika and piraka and the voya nui matoran i had as a kid have all but disappeared, i had them in a blue tub with all my legos which even that blue tub had lost many pieces before. Idk it wasnt jsut my eldest sister my brother was admiting to me how he'd burn pieces when he was bored. my dad threw away the blue tub without even asking or caring to ask if wanted it still.
I got my golden mask of time from a Vahki canister set.

Me only thinking of the Vahi as a unique half mask would use the Nuva shoulder armor or Phantoka Pohatu’s mask as a poor man’s facsimile.

I made the bardiche/with a normal round axe part=axon,
and the dark angles axe/halberd thing=i just realised it counts as a halberd=axon peice again.
(The bardiche is hard to make.) because you need a blake that works for the x type peices=the gresh under sword/sheild half is the only i built 1.
I typed,i just reread it=a blake means now=a blade that needs to slide in 1st through a hole on the blade,then the handle is stuck in at the middle of the blade in another hole=

I think I actually have 6 of these, since I didn't ask for the Vahki until they started advertising the mask, at which point I asked my various family members for all 6 for Christmas lol. The marketing definitely worked

I owned one of those vahki sets that contained the disk and mask but at a flea market and I only got the disk
I'm not sure if I'm confusing this with something else, or if I dreamed the whole thing up, but in relation to that early Tahu concept art: didn't Faber release another piece of art in a similar vein and where the Toa was doomed to wander an endless desert, collecting dull/powerless Vahi from the sand, with possibly a fan game where you do indeed just wander aimlessly in the desert and occasionally come across other toa who look exactly like you with very little/no dialogue when you interact with them?
I have one of these, the gold version, but I don't know where I got it from. I never got any of the product they supposedly came in, I've never got any counterfeit or bootleg legos, and I've never been handed down any Bionicle from my friends of cousins or anything. I feel like it must've come in some local Swedish event or promotion that inexplicably made it to my small town, but I don't know for sure.. Very interesting..
