ahhhhhh...there is a cardinal song in the background. Wowowowow. No coincidence...what a beautiful song, a beautiful moment in space and time. Thank you so so much for this gift.
I came here because I listened to Tyler Childers sing this at the Healing Appalachia session a couple weeks back. And let me tell you, he's pretty talented but he doesn't quite do it justice. Amazing voice and beautiful lyrics!
This song is my new obsession. Thanks to Tyler for helping me come to find who you are. You’re amazing, I love how this invokes the feeling of love I have for my wife
Everyone , me and all of you watching or commenting. All of us will leave this world one day, it's both beautiful but also sad! Make sure to tell those you care for that you love them
This is so good! You are Amazing! So glade a fellow Kentuckian led me to find another amazing Kentucky musician. Tyler Childers to S.G. Goodman. Be seeing you soon at the Troubadour.
I just saw them play this in concert. I was mesmerized. My children were all I could think of, their lives from birth to now, all teens or grown now. Then my life from here until death flashed before me, and while I tell them often, I really hope they understand how much I adore them, and how they have shaped me into someone I’m proud of, shaped my heart to be more than I could have ever hoped to be. The mama I always hoped to be.
I never wanna leave this world Without sayin' I love you Without sayin' what you mean to me You know you make me happy Oh, when we share this space and time Want you to know you shape this heart of mine And I never wanna leave this world, oh Without sayin' I love you Oh, and out in the woods This picture is clear to me I owe my life to even my enemies The ones who have loved me, the ones who have tried Their grips on my heart, and their grips on my mind The stranger I pass, my momma, brothers Friends and my father, they're God undercover I'm tellin' you now in case I must go Want you to know I never wanna leave this world Without sayin' I love you Without sayin' what you mean to me You know you make me happy Oh, when we share this space and time Want you to know you shape this heart of mine And I never wanna leave this world, oh Without sayin' I love you I never wanna leave this world Without sayin' I love you Without sayin' what you mean to me You know you make me happy Oh, when we share this space and time Want you to know you shape this heart of mine And I never wanna leave this world, oh Without sayin' I love you
I owe my life to even my enemies The ones who have loved me, the ones who have tried Their grips on my heart and their grips on my mind That part right there...
Came here after hearing Marc Maron interview where I was struck by how honest you are without sounding like an attention seeker. Marc acknowledged he seeks attention with his honesty, but his self depreciation and humour make him loveable - and he has recently stated he is over the attention. I am sure he loved the conversation with you as much as I did listening.
Just beautiful. Been researching my fathers WWII trail through the South Pacific & this took me back to the moment I realized my conversation with him would be the last one.
After seeing SG’s captivating performance in support of John Moreland (who himself was transcendent), I went back into their catalog because I enjoyed it so much. At the show I suggested a unique mix of Karen Dalton the folk contemporary of Dylan from Oklahoma, and the great Townes Van Zandt. I meant it to be flattering and I see why I thought so, but I think it was a little easy. It’s like the way Townes rejected a verse/chorus setup as the only way to go, but Townes had more of a conversational approach in his rejection of tight form. SG has the same fairly simple lexicon and direct manner, but there’s a musical sweetness to the way SG writes, clinging to words and phrases with more of a yearning than a hollowed passion. On the vocal side, because SG sings so fearlessly and again without hewing to traditional lanes for female “country” vocalists, Dalton seemed an easy comparison. And I think they do share some influence from older, bluesier singers. But as I listened to SG’s first album, I zeroed in on someone else, someone more modern: M Ward. They both use heavy reverb and background placement of their vocals, giving it a rustic, almost ghostly feel. And they both meander lovingly through their songs, almost dragging them out as if they don’t want them to end any more than we do. None of which is to tar this wonderful music as wholly derived or copied! They’re merely reference points, areas of inclusion and commonality in music. It’s like talking about mutual friends. Thank you for coming SG and I hope we see you soon! PS you’d be perfect for the annual KCBX Live Oak festival in San Luis Obispo Ca. Already happened this year but plenty of time to check it out before next year!

Holy WOW what a voice 😱
I never wanna leave this world
Without sayin' I love you
Without sayin' what you mean to me
You know you make me happy
Oh, when we share this space and time
Want you to know you shape this heart of mine
And I never wanna leave this world, oh
Without sayin' I love you
Oh, and out in the woods
This picture is clear to me
I owe my life to even my enemies
The ones who have loved me, the ones who have tried
Their grips on my heart, and their grips on my mind
The stranger I pass, my momma, brothers
Friends and my father, they're God undercover
I'm tellin' you now in case I must go
Want you to know
I never wanna leave this world
Without sayin' I love you
Without sayin' what you mean to me
You know you make me happy
Oh, when we share this space and time
Want you to know you shape this heart of mine
And I never wanna leave this world, oh
Without sayin' I love you
I never wanna leave this world
Without sayin' I love you
Without sayin' what you mean to me
You know you make me happy
Oh, when we share this space and time
Want you to know you shape this heart of mine
And I never wanna leave this world, oh
Without sayin' I love you
