    This type of tragedies make you realize that owning material stuff is not a guarantee of anything. These people lost their houses, their cars, all of their belongings. Being alive and healthy is what truly matters.

      This event might happen once in 1000 years while I would be sad for all the people and property damaged would be amazing to see such a event probably won't happen again for 100's of generations. The video can be used for generations to come as a teaching aid how to stay safe. The next one won't be any of the people alive today it will be so far into the future no one would have a clue if it wasn't for these videos.

We get to witness one of the most powerful tsunamis in recorded history. Never underestimate mother nature...even this isn't the worst of what she is capable of. I think if you talk about powerful Tsunamis the most powerful one was 2004 boxing day Indian Ocean Tsunami. It was absolutely horrific more than 250,000 people lost their lives. People were even unaware of the term Tsunami in that part of the world. Japan 2011 was probably the second biggest disaster. It was also horrific specially the Fukushima meltdown.

People, including children who died in the earthquake have nothing to do with Japan's past atrocities. With your logic forest fires in Australia is a what, a karma for Australians or English people? So what about the massacres Asian and African people have committed against their own race? Why do they go unpunished? Great logic, dude.

    It's so humbling to see these structures of man that we put so much trust in collapse in mere minutes. The earthquake lasted six minutes and so many sleek buildings young and old just crumbled like paper and what was left, was swept away in the waves.
    In the grand scheme of things we are still insignificant. Swept away like a wave of ants can be swept away with a broom. Our intelligence, strength and ability that we pride ourselves on so much, is nothing in front of the true power of nature. This was just a small reminder. And we still forget that today we are alive only on the basis of chance and that situation can change in seconds, every single day every part of the earth has the potential to experience a major disaster like this. So appreciate what you have in your life, care for those around you. Because nature doesn't care. And nature catches up to us all.

Because of those predictions they redesigned their infrastructure in order to absorb the shock.

      Yea okay dude, a country that has experienced the biggest quakes in history and where the word tsunami originated, only learned that this kinda shit could happen 30 years ago. The problem is these mega quakes are typically a once in a lifetime kinda event, so up until the internet, nobody really prepared for it, because basically nobody alive had ever seen such a thing, and by the time the next one hits, nobody from the one prior is typically still alive, to warn others.

    • @pbac9570
      @pbac9570 2 роки тому +4

      @@TrySomeFentanyl it's not that they only learned it in the last 30 years, just that they were culturally climatised to accept it would happen and prepare for it accordingly. A major quake wasn't just anticipated by early warning systems, The expectation that it would happen was pushed inside the culture itself. They built up their infrastructure under the expectation that it would happen instead of assuming it wouldn't.

A 9.1 Richter Scale earthquake is shaking everything violently, yet you hear not a shout or a screech from anyone, and the people just stand or walk calmly as if nothing is happening.
