Balchik (bolg. Balchik is a town in northeastern Bulgaria, the administrative center of the community of Balchik in the Dobrich region.Balchik is the third most important port in Bulgaria after Varna and Burgas. It accepts medium-sized passenger and cargo ships.In the VI century BC, on the site of the modern city, a Thracian-Hellenic polis was founded with the name Kruni (Greek: κρουνοί), translated from Greek as "springs" (due to the presence of a large number of karst springs in this area). The buildings in the city were built mainly of white limestone.
