- Australia’s Emma McKeon powered to the Olympic gold in the women's 100m freestyle at Tokyo 2020. Leading from start, McKeon touched the wall in an Olympic record time of 51.96, beating the previous marker she set in the heats!

Her father is the nephew of a former Irish Taoiseach (prime minister). She comes from an old money family in Ireland. Money without which she would doubtless not be in that pool swimming for someone else.
What a field! When you consider names like Oleksiak, Sjoestroem, Heemskerk and Weitzel were a reasonable margin outside the medals - amazing depth to this field.
