Very exciting to hear you play it. I am sure there are good things to come once I get the final instrument in your hands.

Doesn't sound bad at all. I am building a "poor man" dulcimer using cheap friction tuners that can't handle the tension of steel strings. Your video helps

I have been wondering about stringing my dulcimer with nylon strings for a long time, but from this video I take it the bridge would have to be changed to accommodate the strings. Thank you for making this video.

Did you ever go look at the old dulcimers that used cat gut strings so many years ago? Before steel strings?

I like the sound of those nylon strings but I also play ukulele so I don't know it might be better for me to keep it steel string

I like it more than steel string dulcimer, are there currently any manufactures making them? I would love to buy one 👍🇺🇸.

What a nice, mellow tone. I have been wondering about this for some time. What would be the string conversion from steel to nylon strings? Thank you.

Hi Lee, I'm currently using the high E, B and D string (1st, 2nd, and 4th) string from the La Bella - Flamenco "Hard Tension" set of guitar strings. I have the dulcimer tuned D-A-d. In terms of converting a steel string to nylon strings, the string slots will likely have to be widened. It's also worth mentioning that I've tried doing the conversion from dulcimers that were designed for steel strings and found major intonation problems. In my case, the bridge was fixed and I couldn't compensate the saddle enough to adjust the intonation to fit the nylon strings. As a result, it was okay in the first octave and a bit painful to listen to above the 7th fret.

It sounds like a baritone ukulele.
