The Vietnam War was the continuation of the French's shameful colonial war and had nothing to do with fighting communism. If it had, the war would not have been abandoned.

We weren’t originally supposed to get involved but we had a Treaty with the allied South Vietnamese who begged the US for Training and Aid . We got involved once the north Vietnamese ambushed a well known training base that the north new that was US occupied which they were aware of but before never used to purposely attack them but this was just a planned act by them which cost the lives of US troops. Therefore following the US getting involved.
