Send me pictures of your rides!! 👀👀 What do you guys think of the DSC controller and it's ease of updates? Stay tuned for a full review of this unit coming soon. So far it's been a totally different experience from stock! Let me know what you'd like to see regarding the DSC controller in future videos!
I just bought a 2014 Z51 MRC, the DSC is a 3rd party override of the GM MRC control? Why do that? Personal control? Costs? Can't be inexpensive. Mero says the new C7 is worth the $350 to update. Be good to make a comparison if you find one. Thanks Dennis
There's many reasons to do it but the most notable ones are: the DSC controller allows much more user adjustability, it is an active system meaning it can actively stiffen or soften the suspension based on how you're driving, and there are regular updates for it that are always improving the unit further. There have been noted improvements in the track as well as the street.
I drove my Z51 for three years then did this upgrade. The results are breathtaking. The Track mode is comfortable enough for the street now. Tons more traction and composure everywhere. Only downside is you can no longer select steering and active exhaust in the car's settings menu, so you're stuck with the super stiff track steering that is inferior to the sport steering and the soft exhaust in touring mode when you're cruising around and you wanna blip it and listen to it gurgle. Still worth it and it's one of the best mods I have ever done on any car. I think they talked about bluetooth, but it never happened.
It's a little shocking that some dude can embarass all of GM's combined flagship sportscar knowhow. But, bottomline, they don't drive these cars so they don't really give AF. Great stuff.
This is simply amazing. The idea that this car was probably never tested in optimal suspension and balance configurations blows my mind. THATS WHAT A SPORTS CAR IS FOR. Your work has me constantly thinking, HOW GOOD IS THIS CAR REALLY? THESE ARE MAJOR ATTRIBUTES OF A SPORTS CAR. Hate to scream, but if this cars true performance has never actually been tested with a limit test at a track then what would the outcome have actually been in motortends testing. Could everyone be experiencing a car that wasn't actually finished? Is it possible this car now exceeds a 400k Ferrari 812 super fast in handling and feel? The research and job you have done to extract performance FROM THE STOCK SETUP SHOULD HAVE GM HOLDING THEIR HEADS IN SHAME. Ridiculous info, but all of this should have been done before the car hit the showroom floor. The DSC controller should have been standard from day one.
Totally agree. The fact that this thing can easily be updated via USB is just another reason why something like this should come with the car from factory. Improvements are constantly being made to perfect this thing AND you can change any of the variables yourself if you feel you could do better. It's really a great device that has improved my driving experience massively.
Great Video and information on the DSC Controller. Wish I could find a shop here in West Texas that I felt comfortable installing it. I like the ability to update the software in the DSC Controller as well as set the car’s level to zero! Great info!!
Thank you! It's definitely awesome and I would highly recommend it. You can actually buy them and have it shipped right to your house. The install is not bad at all.
So you've unearthed a whole new ZO6 with the DSC controller all while not even getting your hands dirty. EXCELLENT! Now that you have all four corners zeroed out, will it remain that way should a different driver get behind the wheel or will it automatically compensate for the new driver's weight? Like wheel alignment, which can fall out of alignment, can the ride height settings also fall "out" over time through extreme braking and/or extreme acceleration? Also, would the controller be of benefit in obtaining less wheel spin if you were quarter miling the car in that the car is now more "planted?" Save the Wave.
Great questions Peter, the unit would have to be zeroed out again with a different driver, it can't do it on it's own. The current zeroed out setting won't ever fall out without something major changing like being lowered, or something like that. This thing has been a real pleasure to deal with and it's improved my experience greatly.
Well... to do that accurately it would have to either do it by itself every time you got in the car or it would have to allow you the ability to set it yourself which wouldn't happen. I guess it COULD level it every time you started the car during it's normal startup procedure but we'll see. Would definitely be interesting if GM is watching/listening to DSC.
Just call them up and make sure they can adjust the rear caster for your alignment. The controller can be shipped to you in the mail if you want it to be.
HorsePower Obsessed yeah that’s a great idea LGMotor Sports is the shop I’m going to go to they’re and authorized dealer for it I think their page shows 1289.95 for it does that sound about right or no?
Jason, good afternoon from London. Heading westbound this eve for NYC. Very informative video and appreciate all the knowledge and education to your Vette family. Question; I will assume that my 2019 ZO6 would not have any of the issues with regard to mag ride per the older models? Wish I were going to Corvettes of Carlisle. Oh well, flying prevails. Blue skies, Jg
The 2019's already have the GM mag ride update which definitely helps but from what I've read is still not quite the same. The biggest difference is the DSC unit is an active unit meaning it can basically monitor the way you are driving and soften it stiffen the ride accordingly.
To clarify - are you doing all of the firmware checks, and loading a new calibration with nothing except USB power to the controller? You only power the car on to set the ride height? Thanks and appreciate the tutorial.
What is your experience with tire wear as it relates to the factory alignment. I have a 2019 Grand Sport and have read a lot about the track/street factory alignment. I am not going to track my car and am looking for advise on getting an alignment for street driving. Looking for some help.
That’s interesting. Another question, how are your factory wheels holding up? I have a 19 ZO6 2lz M7, can this help track days. Wow you did this 2 years ago! Am I behind the curve!!
Hi J. Really enjoyed your very informative video on your C7 DSC install. I'll be ordering a 2021 C8 base or ZO6 if it's timeline is not too far out while replacing my 2016 Cayman GT4. Have you installed a DSC on your C8, assuming for have it now? So I've just used the GT4 for autocross events and will do the same with C8. I'm thinking a base C8 with ZO6 wheels/ tires, DSC and maybe sway bars would give a near perfect AX package. The ZO6 horse power would probably be overkill and harder to control on very tight AX courses. Thoughts please? Thanks and be healthy.
Jim Mero has confirmed the worst fears about the upcoming C8. Is it really going to be better than the C7 on a high speed track? Since the C7 came from the factory unbalanced then we may never know, but according to Mero you have been looking at the porsche beater all along.
I am actually looking to put together a video on exactly this. I read this article earlier this morning and it's really eye opening. I've said for a while that the C7 is already a "supercar" and being such can handle its own against Porches, etc.
@@HorsePowerObsessed So now we are talking about a unlocked ZR1 with ported heads, blower , tune and exhaust is a 6.30 something Nurburgring car for way under 200k. I own a ‘17 Z06/Z07 M7, mag ride update, SS Tires, LG drop spindles. Car rides great but getting tougher on my aging bones. I need this car to ride more comfortable, I will give up some performance to accomplish this. Is the DSC my best option?
The DSC controller does not sacrifice any performance so you get to have your cake and eat it too. As far as getting a softer ride that is going to be pretty much your only option. In weather mode this car rides like a Cadillac.
It comes ready to go. You'll switch through the different modes just like you do now. All of the modes are better set up to give you a better ride and better performance. You will turn the dial just like you do now to go from tour to sport to track and have a better experience.

Thanks Justin. It's a bit premature to ask, but what's your guess whether or not the C8 may have a similar type of controller in it from the factory?
@@petercarey6883 I highly doubt it I don't think GM would allow that amount of control in the users hands
No, not one programmable by the owner, but one that would at least automatically level out the car's ride height as well as zero out all four corners.

From the factory it's not the best. Is recommend the alignment from a reputable place to get everything perfect otherwise tire wear could be bad...
How often do they have updates when they find better configuration for tracks? DSC vs GM calibration DSC is way better for road course?
These are constantly being tested and updated for better performance. That's definitely one of the best selling points over the GM calibration.
