I've left the same comment on every video with that compost spinner, it's too exposed to the air. Compost heating is not that strong. Wintertime compost needs to be insulated. Dump it out and pile it between some rocks, then throw some grass over it. Compost spinner is for good weather.
Also looks like hes got too much grass/woody material, needs more vulnerable things for microbes and fungi to work on like fruit and veg scraps/manure.
I have a compost tumbler outside and when it last year was -22 C (-7,6 F) outside I measured + 45 (113 F) in the compost so it works well in cold climate. But to get it working properly you need to put in a lot of nitrogen rich material not only wood and grass clipping. Food waste is the matter that keeps it hot. A garden compost with mostly grass, wood chips and and other waste from your growing needs to be on the ground so all the earth worms can come up and do the heavy work. This is my experience after about 10 years of composting my household waste. By the way I live outside of Stockholm in Sweden so we can get really cold winters sometimes.
A good video for you, would be to bring an oxygen meter inside the tank, close it up with a sheet of plastic(of course have another person around), and see how many hours it takes for the O2 level to drop 5% while relaxing. I bet there's enough oxygen in that tank to last all night with no problem.
The oxygen might not be an issue, but the buildup of co2 is. Even small amounts can cause dizziness and while you're sleeping you won't notice that and could even suffocate even if there's enough oxygen in there because of the high co2 concentration

Hi Cody! Thanks for all the great videos! Hey, so I have a couple of those same spinning compost bins and one frozen morning, I came out to find three of the four handle-indents that collect water sporting rare "ice spikes" - they looked like diagonal stalagmites. Anyway, since there were three of four indents sporting spikes, I suspect that the shape of the indent is conducive to spike formation. So be on the lookout for this awesome and rare phenomenon!
For supporting the top tank, you might consider getting a 4" strap like truckers use, then cutting off a length of that and string it between the poles over the top of em, then screw a 2x4 block over it to hold it in place. That would prevent the poles from spreading and give the tank a solid cradle.

@@theCodyReeder future project? I'm sure you could crowdfund a Cody forest
he already made a start! idk if you have seen it
Sam Hawkes they’ve got a lot of work already preventing fires, so it’s not as simple as planting all the trees randomly. I’m sure he will continue to add more, but they require maintenance in an area like his
I really appreciate the time it takes you to put a video together. If ever you feel no one appreciates your time I do thank you for your time sir.
Keep in mind that it takes two people to dig a post hole in winter: Both insane.
Cody, keep it up! You are doing great things and learning as you go. We love your videos and secretly wish we could be there with you.
Hell yeah best $5 ever spent
Young guns
Cody! You should setup a Fresnel lens at Chicken Hole! It would be perfect to have on your property to heat up water! Even in the summer, a steel barrel up the hill would make for a nice shower. Heck, you might even be able to do that in the winter. It would be awesome to see someone actually use one for something useful.
2:37 Seeing as there is a metallic thingy falling off, those must be robo-Cody's shoes
It was a drill bit, so he could avoid getting bitten by something
That sign reminds me of the cave cricket which jumped on my shoulder in my basement while I was soldering a bug zapper circuit. It was then used to test the bug zapper.
I wish I had a plot of land out in the middle of nowhere like that. Would be nice to have somewhere to go that was so far from everything else. I'd want to build a dome house out there, dome houses are cool.
Dude, you’re vids are the only ones I watch till the very end all the time. Bro you gotta make more. Keep me coming my dude
That sign just makes me WANT to trespass lol
I haven’t watched any of your videos for a long time, and I watched one of your new videos and you looked like you were doing much better than last time, congrats!
Carboniferous Terrarium update please!!!
Really making me wanting to move out of michigan and get land out there, that sunset is to die for!
Ahh the old camp site nail in the shoe technique to stop shoe thief's...nice 😀
When cody's composter is fancier than your house and car
I think by the very nature of what it is, the composter is inherently less fancy than any house or any car
@@idrinkmilk282 just ruined my day
Oh man I love these. Please never stop doing them
Omg I laughed so hard at "Trespassers would be used for science experiments". 😂
3:33 silly cody, you don't use the pickaxe for dirt, that's what the shovel is for! Unless there's a new update...
Use that expanding foam designed for setting posts?!?
For supporting the top tank, you might consider getting a 4" strap like truckers use, then cutting off a length of that and string it between the poles over the top of em, then screw a 2x4 block over it to hold it in place. That would prevent the poles from spreading and give the tank a solid cradle.
7:48 First fail clip for 2020?
great to see things coming along at the base, its exciting to see it start to take shape
Its colder and snowier there than here in Finland 😭😭😭
Konsta Kaukonen yup. Climate change
@@brandonb9452 indeed. Everyone who doesn't realize climate change is real should come here to see for themselves
**Rant** Like im only 18 years old but i still remember the good old days when we had 1 meter (3ft) of snow. Now we have barely anything
Konsta Kaukonen Same situation here in southern Canada. Ten years ago we’d have several feet of snow. Now we’ve got several inches
I’m only 21 and I’ve seen the changes even in my lifetime
As someone who works outside in ohio... I feel your pain of waking up to a sunny day forecast, setting up to work, then snow starts falling on you. That was literally my day today lol
