Growing up a nerdy boy in the nearby suburbs, Chicago was Superman's Metropolis to me. (Funny now, years later, it's played both Metropolis and Gotham City in multiple incarnations). A lot of this footage captures the city in the ways that instilled itself in my heart as that fictional city made real.

Amazing video and quality. I was born and raised in Chicago and I love my city. But when was this shot though? This video was posted here on UA-cam in November 2021, however there are several buildings that have been completed since 2017/2018/2019 that are not shown on here. Such as the St. Regis Building (which is now the 3rd tallest building in Chicago) and the Bank of America Building at 110 N. Wacker. Both of which show as only being under partial construction in this video.
I was here in September 1974. It was the end of a hazy summer. After a week of training, I noticed the weather had gotten rainy, a grey overcast. On the day, I flew home to California. it was pretty brisk, perhaps 65 degrees. But it would be 90 degrees back in southern California when my plane landed some three hours later.
