Over 11,000 Bihu Dancers, Drummers To Attempt Guinness Record In Assam Today

- On the occasion of Rongali Bihu, which marks the beginning of the Assamese new year, over 11,000 folk dancers and drummers will perform the Bihu dance at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati today in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record. Rehearsals are taking place in full swing in the state ahead of the historical moment. Certificate will be given in a similar event where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present tomorrow to celebrate Bihu with people of Assam. NDTV's Ratnadip Choudhury and Sanjay Chakraborty brings us this sneak peak into the preparations.

Bihu is the festival of joy and colors .Its being practiced for a month, costume is a strictly stapled one which is worn specially while performing bihu।the color and form of this dress is the original bihu costume।Its made of pure muga silk worm specailly cultivated in assam.Costs around 30-50 thousand for the whole set of this dress because of rare variety of muga silk worm. Every assamese girl basically try to gather it either by own or from ancestors. The dress worn by boys are same made of muga silk. Instruments are "Dhol","pepa","gagana" which are enough to win heart over any creation of electrical instrument. Thank you for appriciation and understanding. Bihu is our heart❤

Its necessary sometimes , as we always stay unnoticed even after having a wide varity of culutre enriched in assam. These types of steps help it to bring up in front of world. Also the people trying hard to save this culture gets some enthusiasm when it gets recognition . Already the whole indian ststes have got enough chances to showcase its culure to the world. Why not assam. Culutre too is an important angle of development and growth. In fact, culture is the base of any society. We have been facing other issues too but we are proud and happy to get this importance in cultural recognition. Thank you❤
