Featuring: talk show hosts Larry Elder, Michael Medved, and Hugh Hewitt; Bruce Herschensohn, author and former Nixon Deputy Special Assistant; Allen Estrin, Dennis Prager Show producer; George Hiltzik, Dennis Prager's agent; Dr. Stephen Marmer, psychiatrist and Prager friend; and Joseph Telushkin, Rabbi and Prager friend.
I love this roast and have watched it several times. But this time through, watching Dennis's rebuttal remarks, something profound occurred to me. Freely acknowledging that Dennis is one of the greatest living philosophers and arbiters of morality in American life, that prominence and success have in a way robbed us of a talent who could have been one of the greatest Jewish stand up comics of all time! His lightning quick wit, impeccable sense of irony, his droll deadpan delivery, his endearing self depreciation....all hilariously superb. Thankfully we get occasional glimpses of Dennis the comedian in his many public addresses which are available on UA-cam, especially in this hilarious roast rebuttal at the Nixon Library. What a package this guy is, what a moral paragon, what a persuasive exponent of the virtue of happiness, what a national treasure! The world is a better place because of Dennis Prager and his colleagues, and to think, all brought to us free of charge by the likes of Farmer John's Pork Sausages!
I kid you not, I'm isolated at home with a herniated disc, asleep on the couch with an ice pack on my hip, when the lovely voice of Bruce reached into my head, and I thought I was listening to my favourite storyteller from Prairie Home Companion, Garrison Keillor. As I lay there all thoughts of pain disappear, replaced by an even greater sense of wonder for Dennis Prager. He is no ordinary man.
In my lifetime, I have witnessed mankind crisscross the solar system, I hope I can add a humble handshake, with Dennis, to that lifetime.

78,000 views in 9 years and only 57 comments?! That's a travesty. This is one of the greatest public roasts and tributes of all time.
I listened to Dennis in the car occasionally over probably the last ten years or so, and always enjoyed his kindness and insights about life and politics. But I was always a huge Limbaugh fan, and since in my Market (Denver) they were both on at the same time, I usually only listened to Prager during Rush's commercial breaks. But since the world and I lost our daily dose of Rush with his untimely demise, Dennis has become my "go to guy" and a great influence on my life. When I swallowed hard and started coughing up $110 a month for unlimited streaming on my phone, I've started watching all the old Dennis Prager UA-cam videos and getting caught up on who this guy really is and the crucially important ideas he's teaching, particularly on religion, morality, and ethics. It has become very influential on my life. Anyway, that's why it's taken me nine years to find and watch this great roast/tribute to "the man of the hour". I urge it's widest dissemination.

I throughly enjoyed this video. I too have been listening to DPRAGER since he was on KABC along with LELDER, I hope to one day meet him, shake his hand and thank him for his show. I thank God he’s in my life even though it’s only through his radio show.

There’s a great lesson here: Never be roasted unless the people roasting you love and respect you. Compare this to those awful roasts one sees on tv now. What a difference.

Har! That story maybe made me laugh the hardest, and I laughed aloud through most of the entire roast.
34:25 In one of his radio show Dennis explained what happened when the cop gets to the car, and seeing the condition of the mess inside the car the cop wondered. "How did they find the radio?"
Har! Joseph's telling of the cop's reactions when he came to investigate Dennis's robbery was fantastic. He never cracked a smile! Great stand up comic stuff, professionally delivered like a veteran Comedy Club circuit star.

Medved has lost his radio audience, from ratings that I saw. People say they cannot even listen to him.

You're right about Medved. I've never trusted his conservative or even libertarian convictions to be fully authentic. He's also a poor public speaker. I gave up trying to count the number of times he said "ah". He desperately needs a year or two in Toastmasters to at least break him of that.
