I lived in Garden Street from 1989 for the best years of my life so this video brought a pang of nostalgia to me. The arched bridge just upstream of the mill is actually an aqueduct containing the main sewer from Rammy towards Bury. I was mountain biking past one day and I found it burst open with untreated sewage pouring straight into the Irwell. I phoned the water authority and it became a major incident, they lined the aqueduct with a pipe and rebuilt the stonework pretty fast. I was also there when the pub collapsed into the river, which was a merciful end for it because it had staggered from one existence to another for years as people tried different styles. I spent a small fortune on beer in there. When it collapsed the rumour was that it had been bought by a Mr Khan who was scheming to build apartments on the car park and hadn't got insurance on the building, so when it took away the bridge parapet Bury Council went after him for the cost of repairs. Dunno if that was the real truth or what has happened since. I used to love watching Pete Waterman's trains chuffing past my wondows at weekends and blasting into the tunnel. They were happy years.

Loverly village with its mill history. I actually played with my band at the Waterside many years ago. Thanks for watching.
Nice little tour. I love looking back at all the places I used to go as a kid. My Grandparents lived on Hazel Hall Lane.
Glad it brought back memories for you. Thanks for watching.
My dad was born in Summerseat, a Rothwell 😊
Great place, with a fascianating history, thanks for watching.
