Perhaps it is to keep the style of the opening similar to the actual show? It would look somewhat odd if only the opening had highly detailed buildings. As for the opening in general, it doesn't explain the reason for the girl appearing. The regular opening shows the girl using a watch to interact with the dog to help the detective. The pilot shows the girl with a book that has to do with the vehicle and that is it. How does she relate to the detective?

When the pilot episode, entitled "Winter Olympics," was re-aired as episode 65, "Gadget in Winterland," right before Chief Quimby gives Gadget his first assignment, a few lines were re-dubbed by Cree Summer and Frank Welker to address the purpose for Gadget's mustache. Also, in the latter version, the standard opening and closing credits were used. In the pilot version, the lines are as follows. Penny: "Uncle, are you sure that Chief Quimby doesn't know where you are?" Gadget: "Of course, Penny. I'm taking one week's vacation, and I'm absolutely, completely, and totally off-duty." In the later version, the lines have been re-dubbed as follows. Penny: "You know, uncle, I really like your new mustache." Gadget: "Thanks, Penny. It's so that nobody will recognize me. I'm on vacation -- absolutely, completely, and totally off-duty."
There's also the fact Dr. Claws castle hideout was actually destroyed at the end of the pilot episode, but was mysteriously back to normal in subsequent episodes, unless he had an identical-looking HQ somewhere else and/or it got rebuilt brick by brick.

0:37 Can we just appreciate how fluid this looks? Guess they didn't because they sped it up in the final version! Also, the T-pose water exit must've been too much for the producers to handle.
I love how the timing on the animation is off just enough (with sometimes the pilot pulling ahead and sometimes the series intro pulling ahead) between the two that the x-ray explosion of the chief in the safe happens in one, then the other.
I've suspected that as well. Nick did a similar thing when they first acquired Inspector Gadget, coincidentally, around the same time the original Nicktoons premiered. Nick ran a few promos more or less stating (or at least hinting in a less-than-subtle way) that Gadget was the 4th Nicktoon and "their" property. I remember one spot in which they all but declared Inspector Gadget a Nicktoon. There was also a Capri Sun tie-in series of Nicktoons trading cards the channel released featuring all 3 of the then Nicktoons Doug, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Rugrats, the live-action children's show Eureeka's Castle...and Gadget.
The mustache makes him more serious... I rather him without it. I loved to watch Inspector Gadget when I was still a kid! That was one of my favorite TV shows. Too bad conspiracy theorists couldn't keep their thoughts to themselves (Gadget is a robot clone that his niece made after her real Uncle died etc )
I always wondered why that one episode was so different. IIRC he's actually relatively competent in that episode. Kinda wish they had stuck with that version of him.
In my own opinion, I don't think that Gadget is as dumb as it appears. I think that what gives that appearance is that Gadget tends to be a bit myopic. He gets so focused on one aspect of a case that he doesn't notice other important information. This was a factor in the movie "A Shot in the Dark". Clouseau is so convinced of the innocence of the main suspect in the crime that he doesn't notice much of what is going on around him, including the deaths of some people.
Maher and Ibrahim's Avengers To avoid a copyright takedown from MGM because of looking too similar to Inspector Clouseau from the original Pink Panther.
Maher and Ibrahim's Avengers Simply put, they didn't want any trouble whatsoever. Instead of letting it be and run the risk of them being sued, they just went right ahead and got rid of the moustache. You never know, maybe MGM wouldn't have cared if Gadget had a moustache or not. To a company, though, it's always best for you to be safe than sorry.
Thank god they got rid of the stache! In my opinion it just didn't seem to fit the character and this just really didn't look right to me. It only looks good if it fits their personality. Like I think that Chief Quimby looks great with one.

Same here ^_^
0:37 Can we just appreciate how fluid this looks? Guess they didn't because they sped it up in the final version!
Also, the T-pose water exit must've been too much for the producers to handle.
I dunno, I think they were proud of it considering they used it twice in the final product.
i knew i didn't dreamt this, i saw the pilot intro when i was little
He actually had a mustache to the whole series. Mandela effect changed it.
@@Hacksawworldgaming He never had a mustache past the pilot because I actually watched the show once.

Something tells me you haven't heard the concept of a joke..
He looks so good with a mustache... I wish they kept it.
I love how the timing on the animation is off just enough (with sometimes the pilot pulling ahead and sometimes the series intro pulling ahead) between the two that the x-ray explosion of the chief in the safe happens in one, then the other.
It's hilarious how frames of Animation are so superior than Henry Cavill edit Moustache
It’s a cartoon of course it’s gonna look better
He looks pretty good with a mustache
This feels like a speedrun comparison
Once my school put this music as the bell for a day, that was epic.
This has been in everyone's recommended at some point in time.
BROWN BRICKS
Snooping as usual I see
This is what happens when you watch the recent SiIvagunner rips... pure Inspector Gadget
One of the greatest theme tunes ever.
Plot Twist: Pilot was Gadget before, at the end, he kind of died, so in the Series was the restored version of him.
wow a middle finger flashlight. brilliant.
IM A MIDDLE FINGER
Each of his fingers had a different gadget. Something had to be the middle finger.
My science teacher loves this show I can see why XD
One of my favourite intro’s for some reason
Great comparison video, mate! Btw, I made the music for the Inspector Gadget Playstation game! :)
I don't know who to choose either mustache inspector gadget or no mustache inspector gadget.
They could be twins in the same predicament...
Alex Cardona mustache
0:38 My fav part!!! :3
Which one? Car or Mr mister mustash
The Song
Archive5653 no why that face you.
If Batman and Lupin III had a lovechild.
This cartoon holds a special place in my heart, I'm also quite proud that I can do a really good Claw impression
Some of these shots make me think Inspector Gadget was originally meant to be an anime.
lol
Anime Director Hayao Miyazaki animated it.
Actually the animation work was made in Japan. It even had Shingo Araki as Animation Director for several episodes.
Inspector Gadget with a mustache. That's hilarious!
Moustache with Gadget
0:27, Quimby" Shave that silly tache..."
No u Shave yours
Fun fact: Inspector Gadget was originally going to be a Lupin the IIIrd spin off.
Imagine if they met each other
Imagine if Lupin the III was made by DiC Entertainment.
@@jacobwiggle3681 Lupin would lose his sideburns privileges
The mustache definitely gives the character a different feel. It's hard to say what kind of changes it would make.
why did they cut out his mustache in the series????
Maher and Ibrahim's Avengers To avoid a copyright takedown from MGM because of looking too similar to Inspector Clouseau from the original Pink Panther.
Oh but I don't get it why can't they do it from copyright if others can do it with out copyright? Darius Tatu
Oh that makes senses thanks
Thank god they got rid of the stache! In my opinion it just didn't seem to fit the character and this just really didn't look right to me. It only looks good if it fits their personality. Like I think that Chief Quimby looks great with one.
Starred Demation Chief Quimby reminded me of Wade Boggs for some reason.
Fun fact some Knock off Gadget toys still had the moustache
He had a moustache? You learn something new everyday.
