One of d worst AD to discontinue usage. Effexor is d absolute worst. Extreme withdrawal effects. A living hell that could last for at least weeks if not months. Then comes possibly months if not yrs of recovery depending on d damage it has done to ur body & brain. Tapering is always d recommended method. But most medical ppl don't know how. There r many ppl sharing their experiences online.
😢 I use to until 5 years of taking 40mgs a day I didn't notice a side affect no sex drive It did help but not long term I'm of for the first time in 5 years and still feeling withdrawals sensory issues zaps nightmares increased I haven't been able to leave the house I can't drive it's overwhelming... I hope in a month it will get better
Your description states, "Paxil is a relatively new SSRI." It is not. Paxil has been around since 1992 which is quite a long time.

Can you speak about someone taking Paxil for 20 years or more? Are there special concerns for coming off Paxil or simply lowering the dose.
