@@bluesrockguitar1484 ,,,,I was wondering where that tab went!
This was my last post, not sure if you saw it:
Great links! What Paul Nelson says is so true. One night some friends and I went to see "Jimmie Vaughn's younger brother". He's supposed to be good. We didn't know anything else about him. It was at The Stanhope House in NJ. A small club. This was when it was looking like JW was retiring. We knew his roadies and they said he always kept them on the payroll when he took a break from touring. This time they all got pink slips. Luckily that didn't last! But we figured if JW is really retiring we can go see this guy all the time when he comes around even though he was nowhere near JW's league he was still good. So at the show SRV opened with Hideaway and closed with 3rd Stone From the sun. He blew the place apart pretty good. After the show everyone just worked their way out and left. I saw SRV packing up his stuff so I went up to talk to him telling him how much I liked the show. We exchanged small talk and he noticed my boots and started talking about boots. Then I said to him I'm a big JW fan and it seems you must have been influenced by him. He said he wasn't. I thought to myself how can that be? He said that they just happened to be influenced by the same people. Everyone seems to be influenced by all the greats before them. Considering their age difference it seems so odd that he wasn't influenced by JW. Maybe he was extremely jealous or envious and that's why he doesn't want to talk JW? So hard to tell. Think of how much a big deal it must have been to the local contemporary players in Texas back when JW got that big signing bonus from Columbia! That must have been such huge talk. Local boy makes good. Local boy makes huge. Back to the show....... SRV mentioned he was playing the next Tuesday at a small club in New York City. I told him I was probably going to go and hopefully we can talk more. For some reason I never made it. This was right before he made it big. We had no idea he'd become as big as he did. I can't remember if Tommy Shannon was on bass at the SRV show. I think if he was that I didn't recognize him. If he was on bass and I knew who he was ....man I would have loved to talk all about the early albums he played on with JW.

jOHNNY`S BEST SOUND WAS IN 1974-75-76 ALL FIREBIRD. THE LASER WAS A BIG MISTAKE. IT LOST THAT GIBSON SOUND. HATE THE GUY WHO KNOCKED OVER HIS F.BIRD AT A SESSION. THEN JOHNNY PICKED UP THE POORLY SOUNDING LASER GUITAR. HE COULD NOT EVEN PLAY SLIDE ON IT. JW GIVING UP THE FIREBIRD WOULD BE LIKE JIMI GIVING UP THE STRAT. NO GOOD FOR MUSIC PERIOD. THANKS ALEX R
