4:06 You are wrong Shoestring! You could make videos of you nowhere near a track and I’m still gonna watch. I love your stories and extensive knowledge of the railroad and country. You and I were just talking about Taylor Texas on here the other day. Today I find out you live in Johnson City Tennessee. That’s where my wife was born and her family is from! Stay safe out there my guy! -Brighty Bulger
Hey there Shoestring. The yard there where you’re at is called “Carnegie”. Looking east toward Bristol, the track furthest off to your left is actually CSX trackage, leased by ETRY. We called this the Carnegie spur, and there was a time we had a LOT of customers there, but the times have changed. The “Carnegie Spur” is the remnant of the old CC&C Railroad that was 90 percent complete complete between Johnson City and Dante and then went bust in 1893. The grade for that line can still be seen today if you know where to look. It was always a treat for me to catch the Johnson City extra Saturday yard job as engineer and we’d go work Johnson City Chemical Co. on the Carnegie Spur.
Your videos are informative and relaxing. I love it when you said you found your rhythm on the railroad. We found ours living in a van and being a nomad. Thanks for the videos.
