    My tree is in my front yard and neighbors come and ask all the time if they can pick some. I tell them to help themselves and offer them a bag.😂😂😂

      I really like them, but I just found out they do not grow in my area, to dry, need to much water. I am going to have to rethink how I am going to grow this bush. Nice to know they are near your home too. Thanks Darren

      That Chip is the hardest part of the kumquat is the seed, normally I eat them skin and seeds but when making a drink or smoothie have to remove the seeds. Thanks gary

    While it may bruise them I'm thinking about vacuum sealing them to remove as much air as possible to prevent them turning brown. I need to get with someone who has a freeze drier.

      That, to me, makes good sense, I have never tried it, but the other choice is to can them in a pressure cooker. Gary

    Being chinese, we had a 10 foot + tall loquat tree in the backyard. We had loquats up the ying yang every year and had to freeze and give away most of them. nice vid buddy, like #26

    The yellow ones are sweeter the meat inside are whitish yellow. The orang arange are sourer.

      Yes they are never in the stores because they are so fragile. They are only in some months and they taste great. You do see some loquats jam but never the fruit. Thanks Gary

      Here, they do not sell loquats because it's too hard to keep nice, it ripens all at once and it has a very short window where the Loquats are available. Thank you for watching. Gary

    I was curious about the loquat seed coffee idea so I looked up their toxicity, about they are waaay more toxic than apricot seeds, even with best practices, I wouldn't try. Unfortunate, would have been super cool.

      Hi Steve, very strange taste these seeds came from China. Most chinese families know of them they will take over the backyard if you water them. Froze rather well but lasted only two days unfrozen and it lose it nice look too. Thanks Gary

      No Geeta, I didn't but that is a great idea. They turned brown after one day out of the freezer. I just use them up before that happens. Gary

    can I wash, dry, and freeze the loquats whole or do I have to pit them?

      Hi Jerry, I remove the pits, but that doesn't mean you could just wash them, dry them and freeze them. But once unfrozen you need to use them immediately bc they turn to mush. Thanks for watching this video. Gary

    I hv taken out all the pulp, made a smoothie , then converted it into frozen cubes n in d end put it in d freezing bags.But I don’t know how long it is safe to use after freezing ....do u know

      Hi Bal, it's good for six (6) months! But sometimes, I forget my loquats and they are still good near a year. But you need to use them right away as they lose their color, taste and turn into slush. Write me anytime maybe we can exchange recipes. Gary

      Hi Turtle it takes 5 years or more to harvest a loquat from seeds, I was hoping to purchase a plant but I can't find them in my area. Kumquats are no problem so I am lucky there. Thanks for watching, Gary

    I found that leaving them on the stem help them last even longer. I’m experimenting with ways to stop the bruising.
    Any tips on this?

      My plant died because of the intense heat here in Riverside Valley. But my friends have huge trees and the fruit only last a little while, freeze them as soon as you can to enjoy this fruit throughout the year. Thanks for watching and looking forward to see you again here. Gary

      Yes Macy; it a very interesting fruit and it damages easily which is why you never see them in stores. Maybe an Asian grocery store might have them. The fruit is similar to blend of apricot, plum, and cherry but the seed is poisonous. Thanks for watching Gary

      9:44 shows the fruit being placed in freezer bags, yes I do not show them because they enter the freezer compartment area. I am happy you enjoyed this video. Gary

    Bite the top off. Suck the seeds out. Spit the seeds onto the sidewalk. Seeds bounce far. Put the whole thing in your mouth bitting off flower butt. I must have eaten thousands of loquats.
