As a person that has had close contact with very hot batteries, I’d advise you to not try and deep fry batteries again without proper eye protection and a non-flammable surrounding.
@@frankieslefttoe8210 not in a real fun way. There's almost no energy in them fresh
@@gabeford895 I’ve been around both types, lithium batteries and Alkaline batteries. Lithium does indeed have more of a boom too them, alkaline batteries have a small poof, but the chemicals that are released should not be inhaled.
24:07 The headlamp flashing S.O.S is a true sign of quality, letting the user know something is not right and it's in need of help.
The head lamp in the boiling water was flashing S.O.S. 😂
Tyler does reviews, not research.
Just like you don't have to cycle modes if you hold the power button a half second longer.
If I ever fall in boiling water for 30 minutes, my headlamp will save me!
@@CasualSolo it means Tyler has redone several videos because he didn't read the instructions or was completely clueless how to use the tool, most recently the butter knife.... the important thing is he still reads comments and listens to the viewers suggestions
Tyler is proof how safety squints work really well... So far...
@@robvenom1058 I am nowhere close to the brilliance of Mr. AvE. But I will say this. Tyler is skookum as frig.
Looks like we need to report these leechers in chat that are trying to promote some O.F accounts. UA-cam needs to do something about all these bot accounts that spam those links but since they won't without a kick in the ass from us we'll have to do the grunt work.
Just a heads up, what you thought was a second strobe mode and the headlamp acting weird is the SOS function on both of those lights. That’s exactly what that mode is supposed to be doing.
Me: Surely he'll take the batteries out before he boils them. You cant just boil batteries like that.
Tyler: Hold my beer
And then immediately starts poking them right after cause they seem to be splitting open lmao
“We got like…a chisel?”
Starting to think Tyler’s never seen a bottle opener but I found that funny. Love you Tyler!
Would love to see ya review some actual high quality "tactical" stuff
he’s a relatively small youtuber and does youtube full time i believe, so he may not have enough money for high quality stuff, maybe he does tho
@@hopinaghost well why should he test something from wich we all know are good and will pass the tests. that would be really boring
@@hopinaghost I don't mind the sponsored parts of his videos, but with the amount of sponsors he has, he must be gaining AT LEAST 10k dollars a month. In France each sponsored segment on a 500K subs video will get you at least 5k euros, if it's Raid Shadow legends then it's more than 15k.
I love the psychotic tests these companies come up with. It can survive being frozen, boiled, deep fried!!... Can it survive being dropped a million times from varying heights which is the actual durability test for a flashlight??
Can it survive accidentally being turned on in your pocket for so long that it feels like it's going to catch your leg on fire?
@@Djsjsjdhusjsjsjsjs not really as someone who was in the military, drop testing would still by far be the most relevant testing lol
My dad used to design and build one-off test machines for this kind of testing. It was always weird to see a machine he built running. I remember one that simulated load/use cycles on an electric hospital bed. It looked hilarious simulating normal use. Or the machine that simulated dropping the wired industrial control dongle for some machine. 4 foot falls, 100k iterations.
It's unfortunate Bell & Howell has become this "As Seen on TV" entity. I'm 57, and remember every film projector we ever used in school was a Bell & Howell. They were pretty durable, rarely failed, and were easy to use. They also made cameras and lenses. From what I remember, the quality was pretty good.
Their products now are still good and reliable, as you saw in this video lmao
A good way to test water proofness is to use salt water - it is much more conductive and will short circut more easily if water gets in
I mean granted the product only claimed to be resistant, so should be fine, sort of surprised they didn’t claim water proof even though they are rather good at withstanding and continuing to work even filled with water
Ah yes, finally a hammer for when I need to do some tactical carpentry
What if your playing cod zombies and your telekinetic powers fail?
Your neighbors must love seeing all of these new packages arriving at your house. Good reviews dude. I like this stuff. Keep safe mate.
why would they care what he gets? how would it be any of their business?
@@johndeerdrew tbh I would be pretty interested if my neighbor got packages everyday
@@thefbi3350 no you wouldn't. Quit acting like you don't already know what is on those packages. I got your number glowie
I have one of those. They get like four truck deliveries a day.
And yeah, even I feel like it's a second Christmas any time I get my own packages in the mail
Its nuts that B&H has turned into an "As Seen On TV!" company... in 2009 I worked as a document conversion processor at IBM and my machine was a $25,000 Bell and Howell Ngenuity. Scanned pure quality @ about 60ppm color, never broke down... It was a freakin machine!!!! In the 2 years I worked there, I never had to call the techs to look at it! I fed almost 27,000,000 papers into it in my time lol.
I once saw a Facebook advert for some sort of "tactical" sunglasses. They made the false claim that they were military glasses, so I pointed out that they aren't military because they don't have a ballistic rating and they aren't on the APEL (Approved Protective Eyeware List). I also posted a link to the list. Unsurprisingly, they promptly stopped claiming their sunglasses to be military sunglasses.
I had a similar issue with a company that advertised one of those indoor insect sprays that automatically sprays toxic chemicals every few minutes. They company claimed their product was safe and they even showed someone carrying a baby around inside the house, where the sprayer was.
The advert used to be shown pretty much every ad break, during a morning talk show.
I sent the company an email, letting them know that all insect sprays are carcinogenic and they're setting themselves up for a potential lawsuit, if they continue to advertise their product in that way. I didn't receive a reply from the company, but they must have listened, because the advert immediately stopped being shown.
I have noticed, not much later, all advertising for such products stopped. I don't even know if they're available any more.
i like how u are not afraid of saying that u where wrong and the product is actually good, keep it up bro best channel ever
I love how he came back to the flashlights in boiling water and the headlamp was flashing Morse code for SOS
Tyler : "I don't want to put the battery pack in oil"
Also Tyrel: Puts flashlight in oil
well a flashlight running off a single battery is different than a giant block full of a very unstable and volatile metal.
@@michealpersicko9531 Pretty sure even the hand held one had a pack of 4 batteries.
The headlamp sending out an SOS during the boiling is comedic gold
I'm gonna be honest that flashlight And headlamp were super impressive. While the boiling water did damage they still did really well under water and in Ice, which I did not expect.
"This thing really likes to launch the pieces."
launches a piece close to his eye
but props, for not flinching
"3 to 5 business years" is my new answer for when someone asks when I'll get something done. Thanks Tyler 👍
Guess you could say he brought the pot of boiling water to a “ light simmer”
175 pounds is actually insane grip strength. Absolutely insane. How is no one talking about this.
Looks like we made the right choice for this video’s thumbnail. This was great.
This is my favorite type of video!! Day 18 of asking Tyler to start a series similar to wish Wednesday where he goes to Dollar Tree and tests all of their off brands compared to the actual brands (tapes, glues, locks, charging cables, ect.) You could call it frugal fridays!
I've actually inadvertently done just that.. in real life..
I was going through rough times and lived off the dollar tree for 4 years..
In short... there are some half way decent things at the dollar tree. . But usually... it's crap.. lol..
You definitely don't want to buy any kind of "cables" weather it be earphones (oh junk!!l) or a charging cord... unless you want a dead electronic / phone.. or just watch the cable fail and fall to pieces.. it will be junk... forget most their off brand stuff it's all crap.. why do you think it only costs a dollar? What you look for are the name stuff that is in sample size for a dollar.. like 3 ounces of some name brand like 3 ounces of downy softener that kind of thing.. for the size it does actually cost a dollar.. but thing is, you're getting the real thing... only buying the amount you need for that moment... and can maybe hopefully afford it.. hopefully...
23:45 I have that headlamp, not actually on the fritz it’s more of a sos feature when you long press the button
Its amazing that shit like this still gets made, like Bell & Howell used to be a super reputable company 50-60 years ago when they only made cameras, now they just make dollar store items.
I mean their products are still quality. The flashlight was much brighter and covered more area than the control one he used, and withstood punishment I'm positive the other one wouldn't have
I wanna see you brutally test a set of Manscaped products
I like how you have your own opinion of the items but you still give it plenty of opportunities to prove its "claims". Keep it up bro!
Idk why but the headlamp flashing S.O.S. In Morse code while boiling is the greatest moment I have seen in one of these videos. Not sure why it is so funny to me but I love it.
I need Tyler to do another manscaped ad because my pubes are getting long as hell and I been meaning to get one of them lawn mowers I just wanna support my fav UA-cam while I'm at it
Deep fried tactical - this should be a new American fast food item. I use around the house a couple small "tactical" lights but they are in the 2 to 4 $ and they work great for the price.
"Remember old Biff? Disappeared from the industrial kitchen when he was cooking up a huge batch of deep fried chicken?"
"Yeah, always wondered, what did you find?"
"Will, we didn't find him, but we did find his headlamp, still shining - we suspect he fell in...!"
The best thing about this video was your sponsor, Vessi Shoes. Never heard of them, thought they were cool. Didn't think they were over $100+, didn't think it would be a sold out item. They are.
A person who is supposedly a outdoor person mistakens a SOS signal on the headlamp as a “malfunction” is hilarious 😂
Thanks for this much needed in depth review of these products. Ive always been skeptical of these things but now I know! Rock on Tyler!
I just wanted to say, your videos make my day better. Thank you Tyler, the friend we all wish we had.
I use that same exact headlight for my job. I had my doubts too when I got it. It can take a beating and keeps working. The zoom loosens up after a bit of use.
I officially need me a "I void warranties" shirt. You're the 💩, Tyler. 👊😁
Absolutely LOVE your videos Tyler! Keep doing what you do buddy! Am a mechanic and I use one of those flashlights every day. If you flick the button on the flashlight, it will cycle through the different modes (low/SOS/etc...). If you just turn it on and off like normal then it should stay on the high mode.
This is important work you're doing here and I for one greatly appreciate it
Bro I know you'll probably never see this but you're videos are awesome! I thoroughly enjoy seeing how well made or unwell made certain products are. You really made a truly invaluable channel that helps all of us to see the truth of marketing, advertising and quality. God bless you my friend!
now they can Advertise their flashlight with: "Resistant to Water, Ice, Cars, and Crazy UA-camrs with a Hammer"
That flashlight after the boiling water test, why did it remind me of… “this broom has had 17 new heads and 14 new handles in its time” 🤣🤣🤣 - if you know, you know!
I just came home drunk AF in Sweden and love this video.. Thank you Tyler for this drunken entertainment! ^^
I really enjoy watching your videos every week. You make some of the most interesting content and I love it. Keep it up man.
I love the longer videos keep up the good work I've been watching for like 4 years
I feel like these videos should have a name brand product to compare.
Bro legit the first video I've ever seen from this channel and not only was i thoroughly entertained i also feared for this man's life 😂😂😂 what a rollercoaster
I saw an ad for a tactical flashlight recently that made all the claims of the Bell&Howell but also claimed it could start fires and cook eggs. I forget what it’s called but you should review that one
I really love the tac products like for general use and keeping them in your room or vehicle they're very bright. I can't say how well they stand up for actual tactical situations or survival situations but a small inexpensive head lamp, flashlight, and lantern and their other products very bright and I've used for years
That Streamlight is going to be more durable than both of them combined. Edit, they did better than I thought, but I still don't think they'd hold up as well.
The "other strobe" on the tac lights is an SOS strobe. So, it'll blink SOS in Morse code.
@@tukr I don't have any experience with the head light. I have a couple of the handheld tac lights though. I use mine every day, it works really well for what I need it to do.
its kind of amazing you havent lost an eye yet , even i turned away when you started trying to snap the blades
I’ll definitely be checking those shoes out
Flashlighs have always been tough machines, even the old ones. They all would survive at least 1 day of abuse
I gotta say, my sister bought me some Vessi shoes like 2 or 3 years ago. I still wear them to this day and they're in pretty good shape for their age. So comfy, stretchy, and indeed waterproof.
"I am not going to put the headlamp batteries in the oil! That sounds dangerous." .... then immediately put the whole flashlight with the batteries in the oil.
I swear I get so damn excited when you post a video. I watch your videos at work and to go to sleep
Dude I have been watching you since you're flex tape video a few years ago back then you were a small channel. Look at you now brother 655k subs and doing well. I'm happy for you man glad to see you are still making videos and doing well for yourself.
imagine you're tyler's neighbor and you just see flashing lights from his backyard at like 9:30 at night LOL
The only thing I love about the comments is what everyone says about the content he does it’s what I love the most about his fans. Your one of a kind Tyler we all tune in every week because your awesome ❤️
Keep em comin
I'm kinda living for Tyler "zooming" his flashlight
I love your channel because you're not afraid to go the extra mile and lay into these products like they should be because let's be honest not everyone is going to baby their tools and this really shows what a average Joe would do to their tollsm
I've only watched a couple of videos. Just wanted to say thanks for keeping your content clean and without vulgar or cursing
I was wondering where the 1 or 2 question from the other day was for. Hey love the vid!
Good Job Tyler!👍
I’m horrified that Tyler thought to keep the battery pack from the head torch out of the BOILING OIL, but just happily dumped the whole standard torch into the oil.
“That’s a pretty good squeeze”😂
5:10 you have to squeeze with the pliers in the same way you did the test because it’s different muscles in the forearms
I love your content Tyler ❤️ You're my favorite youtuber!
After boiling the lights, that headlamp was blinking SOS in Morse code (Three fast, three long, three fast), it wasn't malfunctioning, it just had the SOS mode enabled.
Great stuff keep up the good work
It was such a surprise to see the headlamp or the flashlight survive
24:14 It's in SOS mode, has 3 modes, on, strobe and SOS mode, if you click button again it will switch on.
I have 3 of 4 of the flashlights in cars and coat pockets. Can be bought for a few £ on eBay and really are a solid budget choice. Mine have been used and abused and keep going.
12:20 - Bruh, that is literally the EXACT flashlight that Harbor Freight sells under their "Quantum" branding. Only difference is that the Quantum branded has a black button and no wrist wrap.
Lmfao, just hit 25:00, and my flashlight did that exact same thing - adhesive failed and that lens and the little retainer and o-ring fell right out. Glad to see it's a design problem and not a brand problem 😂
17:11 tbf that’s like opening your door in winter and going “why’s it cold inside?! This house is poorly made!” But don’t let this distract you from the fact that for some godforsaken reason they expect a HEADLAMP to be in situations akin to being in a literal deepfryer, even though they’re clearly lying it’s just so goofy
I got the Atomic Beam version of the Flashlight and lantern and you don't need to go through each setting to turn the flashlight off. But if you're in another mode outside of the brightest setting, it'll turn on to the next one like if I go to the dim setting and turn it off. Turning it on will have it go to the strobe effect, turn off on strobe and turn it on it'll be on the SOS setting
Never would have thought those lights were that durable
I have one of those tac lights somewhere oil ended up killing it accidently dropped it in the oil drain pain trying to look at something
How about a really good/bright flashlight? I'm not sure if you've already made a video about it or not. I'm looking for some good, really good, bright flashlights for camping and emergency use in my truck. Any suggestions?
Not that I would drown, freeze or cook a flashlight but if they are that hard-core then I definitely want one. That was really impressive!
23:39 Its SOS, its calling for help lmao
The headlamp was sending you an SOS after it was boiled...LOL ... _ _ _ ...
Neighbors....Honey,what is that?
That's Tyler screwing around in the back yard.
Ok,I will put the boards up.
You know who makes some surprisingly good flashlights? Duracel. We've actually got several that we've picked up at Costco, including a headlight, flashlight, and even a car emergency one that has a glass-breaker and seatbelt cutter.
The trouble with the flashlight is the on/off push button fails before anything else. It will still make a clicking sound but not work. I tore it appart and viewed that one leg on the switch that goes to gournd the switch to the aluminum tube broke off. It is really thin and cheap metal on the switch...actually thinner than a tin can.
I have the hammer multitool and it works like a charm for everyday use. My edc on my hip in a leather sheath. The wire cutters on mine and the ones I've seen are as easy as normal ones and I think yours might have been a machine malfunction.
I have a pair of those vessi ‘s absolutely love them and very comfortable
This was the 1st time in over a year where a sponsored ad actually made me want to check out the product.
Id really like to see you compare a "tactile" tool to something that is advertised as a normal multitool. Bonus points if you got the Gerber Multi-plier 600 blunt nose. I got one as a hand me down years ago and while its worn down I still get a lot of use out of it and would like to see if its really that good of a tool or if I just have low standards lol.
3:20 you should try to get it apart and on to the sharpness tester
"I dont wanna put the batteries in the oil in case something bad happens" *immediately dunks the entire flashlight in the oil with the batteries*
I'm pretty sure if not mistaken in order to use the zoom feature on the headlamp you rotate the lens/outer housing left or right .
