Loving these videos. I'm looking at selling my Mustang in a few months to get myself into an '08 Forester 2.5XT and definitely mean to do the basic off-road upgrades just so we've got a vehicle we can take for trail and beach camping.
The CVT kind of ruins it, as it won't let you put down the power on steep sections. At least that's what I've seen in videos. They just sit there and bog with no tires slipping or anything.
What size tires do you have? And what lift kit made that work I just got 15" Method MR502 V Spec Rims +15 Offset 235/70R15 They are a bit tight and rub. I am waiting for a 1.5" Subtle Lift Kit And I run White LIne Posite Steering Response System (pushes the front tire slightly forward as the lower control arm bushing is slightly offset forward) Helps with steering (turns like a beast and wants to dig into turns (almost oversteer but once you're used to it its awesome) I know I'll probably have to flatten my front pinch weld and may possibly have to lose the front 1/2" Eibach Spacer to suck the tire in. But curious about your build.
At the time of this video Tim was running an ADF 2.5” lower strut lift, and 31’s on a 16” wheel. His offset was -20, and I would hate to see what it looks like under the fenders. (I imagine a lot of hammering. Personally I run a 2” Subieliftoz lift kit with 215/75r15 wheels on a +15 offset. I also have sti control arms which give me more caster, so I have no wheel rub. Check out some of the other videos on my channel for my own setup in greater detail.
@@ignitionoffroad5028 I saw he had 31" when watching more of the video and that he cut his fenders and a custom bumper (approach angle) I guess I'll have to install all my parts and strategically hammer and grind/cutout where required.
In this video the lift you are running is the Anderson bottom strut lift 2.5 and trailing arms? Any subframe spacers? Also what are the offset on the rims? Thank you
Love the car bro. Quick question. I’m running a 5” lift from ADF and really want to find a off road bumper like yours. Front and back. And leads? Thanks again!
I believe Tim used a landcruiser bumper he chopped up to suit. If you want a perfect fit, made for the subies, check out Subaxtreme in Australia. They make front and rear bumpers that are airbag compliant
Tims forester has a tonne of mods on it. Your best off following his instagram @SG9offroad to get the latest on his rig. I believe his forester is a 2006 naturally aspirated forester with the 2.5L boxer engine. At the time of this video he had a 2.5' lift and 31' tires.
Hey mate what did you do to make the 31" tyres fit as I have a 05 xt forester and am wanting to do a 2.5/3" lift and I'm want to run 30/31" tyres. Any help is very much appreciated!!

i have mate that keeps saying having lights or light bar above your original headlights is illegal. i live in NSW and have checked the laws a couple time but cant find anything. could anyone fill me in please?
How do you go with deeper river crossings and a petrol engine? In regards to coils, plugs and leads etc being under water, I know you have a snorkel for air intake.
Jim Dodd Adventures the rubber caps on the spark plugs seem to seal very well, and to help them a bit more I spray a bit of WD40 around them before doing a crossing. Have been over the bonnet deep without issues

Maximum lift allowed without engineering certificate is 2'. Tim was running 2.5' at the time of this video and it was not engineered. Also his exhaust would be too loud, re-drilled wheels wound't be accepted, and removal of sway bars is illegal. In saying that I'm running a 2.5/3' lift without engineering certificate myself and no sway bars. Realistically you'd be unlucky to get caught but yeah, by the rules its not legal.
It’s pretty cool, very innovative but would lack low range and not be legal. About 50% of four wheel drives aren’t legal so I guess you’ blend right in. I’ve always gone against the grain though to make something do what it was never intended for. Good combination of tyres, wheel base and centre of gravity will make this thing embarrass plenty.
Awesome! Have you had any problems with reliability after lifting it 2.5"?I hear subies shouldn't be lifted more that 1.5 - 2". What do you think about that?
Yes the increased CV angles will cause more stress on the CV boots hence you find yourself under the car more. In saying that the owner of SubiLiftOz is running a 4' lift kit and has told me he only had to fix one CV boot in the last 4 years.

One of the best Foz builds ive seen in a while !
This is so sick. Not because it's going to be the best 4x4 or anything, but someone actually made a forester into a 4x4 offroad...
The symmetrical awd is a beast offroad tf are you talking about
Love that it's all mix and match, made to fit
the best off road subbie build I've seen!! nice work!!
Not wrong man!! Epic
Forester just handsome! I myself am from Russia. Very beautiful car. You can tell in more detail how you so lifted the car. Super easy!!!

Also, what performance mods to turn those 31" tires? Just am exhaust?
At the time of the video it was just an exhaust and snorkel. Now Tim has turbo charged it for some extra power
Just needs a winch to pull out all the 4x4's.
Where did he get the wheel/fender flairs from?
I think they were just an eBay special. Probably one of those universal sets
What are the flares he used in this?
Did you have to change your diff at all? Are these steel rims?

Sounds good hey
This is a BEAST !
2.5" lower strut lift to fit the tires? Or typical upper strut lift?
A lower strut lift was used to fit these tires. Otherwise you need a lot of spacing or negative offset to clear the spring perch.
What year is it

This is not my car, but offset LCA inner rear bushes will help, as well as a lot of cutting and bashing on the firewall
What wheel flares is he running? I have been searching for that bolt on well flare, or is it something modified like everything else ?

Natural aspirated ej25

the snorkel is just for show ?
