    The truck is solid for sure but a turbo engine just doesn’t hold up well past 150k. I have heard so many stories of people replacing turbos as if it is routine maintenance.

      My 2017 EcoboostI changed oil every 5k and replaced turbos every 500 miles, the secret is buying the turbos by the gross, 144 at a time🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 even then I have loved both my 2.7 Ecoboost powered F150’s most reliable and comfortable vehicles I’ve owned in my 61 years.

    I think the 3.5 EcoBoost issues are blown out of proportion.. Keep up with your maintenance (mainly oil changes) and the motor will be reliable..

    I have a 2014 3.5 eco Lariat. I bought it with 48,xxxx miles. I’m at 194,xxxx right now. I had a turbo replaced under warranty around 90k. Needed to get the throttle body replaced too. I have the spark plugs changed every 80k miles. Oil changes every 5k without question, full synthetic. The truck runs just as good as the day I bought it. I think it’s a 400,000+ mile truck. I love it. I hope to take it that far.
    3.5 ecoboosts are the best towing trucks in the half-ton class.

    I’m 2k miles away from 200k on my 2012 3.5 eco boost. Keep oil changes on schedule and it will last…still runs as smooth and pulls as hard as it did on day one…

    Long read but real owner review- I bought a 2016 3.5 EB almost two years at 64k miles, this review is pretty spot on, right before I bought it the sunroof was completely replaced under warranty, and not it doesn't open so I just leave it alone lol if theres one thing I'd change about my truck it'd be not getting a sunroof, then about 10 months after i bought it the throttle body gave out on me and left me stranded at 74k so personally I'm going to change the throttle body out every 50k that I have this truck. The only time the 6 speed transmission is pretty solid but i dont get some clunky downshifts from 5-4, stepping on a few times usually fixes the shift for a while, just step on it from 5-4 every once in a while and you'll be good. I see some expensive repairs at Ford dealership before I bought it so I'm guessing one of then was the cam phasers because I haven't experienced any issues with mine. Personally, I wouldn't buy an ecoboost if you can't afford the ecoboost repair bill... I do expect to change the turbos at about 150k and I'm completely okay with that, it's a fun and strong truck for towing that has its trade offs but I love mine

    All this new tech on trucks is ruined them. I've now gotten to where I only buy toyota or honda . Non turbo non high tech trash. I just want a vehicle that is reliable and will last to around 300,000 miles. Honda and toyota people.

    highest towing, super fun to drive a twin turbo truck, gas mileage is great, they are very reliable considering this is the most popular engine sold in the line up and theres hundreds of thousands of high mileage ones like this goin strong. they dont rust. I live in the north and a 2016 like this if it was a dodge or chevy, man it wouldnt even be pretty to look at let alone think of puttin your hard earned money on. These trucks have the highest resale value of american trucks by a long shot for good reasons. I predict in another 10 years people will be seeking these out because the bodies are mint and they are the best looking pickups since the 70s

  • @crowdnine878

    The bodies hold up well in terms of not rusting but they dont have the overall durability ime

    I'm sorta a Ford guy, but I can't understand why they say Fords are the number one selling truck in America; I mean if I saw 20 trucks on the road, like 2 might be Fords!

      drive thru certain states and its all you see. I grew up in ontario canada. people who drive american drive GM. We got the oshawa plant and I dont know why, its just the most popular here by a long shot. Than I went thru the states, michigan and illinois, ohio, etc and saw so many fords everywhere. I guess each state is diffferent. also gm trucks are cut in half for sales because you gotta choose between chevy of gmc for the same truck. if you buy a ford 1500 its a f150 no secondary models stealing sales from the f series

    5.0 wins. Ecoboost should be trashed !!

    • @jd-it4on
      @jd-it4on 24 дні тому +1

      Wins what? Being slow contest ,accelerating the slowest while towing?? And u have to spend 7 to 10k on a supercharger to make a real difference and by that time it's definitely not reliable for higher mileage. Fact is all the engines have issues the 5.0 is no different, just won't have the expensive repair of turbo coolant lines. The most reliable when talking to ford mechanics I know is actually the 2.7 ecoboost and it's gets better mpg as well as gaps the 5.0

    • @TheManInTheRing

      @@jd-it4on 5.0 is historically the engine that put ford on the map for anyone born in the last 70 years so they hear 5.0 like some rebel cry and come runnin out the mountains but the truth is its slow and it cant haul. its pretty sad when you hear car guys scream reliability cuz thats all they got to throw at you. and anybody knows its easier to pull out free power from a twin turbo compared to a NA motor. look at that 5 star e 50 tune
