I feel pretty comfortable in both Korean and Japanese so I compare the two translations a lot, and I think it's cool how Barbara's lines are in casual speech in Japanese, yet in the Korean her lines are in formal speech. The JP lines feel more aggressive and confrontational as a result (especially when she was "praying" to Barbatos but eventually just becomes a complaint lol). It's almost as if they are two different characters personality-wise. The JP Barbara doesn't try to hide her emotions and directly exposes her frustrations, and the KR Barbara tries her best to keep her composure even during a dire situation like this. I think the two different interpretation works well and the VA's each did a great job trying to convey that different personality.
The moment this became like one of those stereotypical anime scenes, then JP wins. The over exaggeration and the comedic vibe to the scene was screaming Anime.

English dub sounds weird because sounds like "aaaggghhh" aren't commonly heard in English and shouldn't have been dubbed in English in the first place. (Even JP just made it into a "Gyaaaah!" sound) But while it's quite common for Asian languages to have those types of reactions, I think I'm more accustomed Westerners reacting in ways such as "HUH" or "WHAT" or some sort of cussing in place of the many that Asian languages have.

all versions sound good for me, tbh. But I guess it's because I'm used to hearing all those languages since I play the game in English dub, I'm used to watching subbed anime, and donghua, and is currently learning korean
Unpopular opinion: I prefer the English voices over the others, no matter how much purists lobby that an anime looking game should be played in Japanese and weebs complain that English dubs are ear-grating. Genshin Impact's strength is its immersive environment, especially in its bustling cities. I lose that immersion a lot when I don't understand the ambient dialogue around me which usually don't have subtitles.

Well, it's Mihoyo afterall, "Tech otaku saves the world". The word otaku is Japanese, so it kinda points out that the devs are weebs. Their game Honkai Impact 3rd was heavily inspired by Evangelion, which is probably why they used JP voice as the primary one for global. They just made an option where players can switch languages to match their preference.

There's a lot of misunderstanding here...I believe it fits very well, it sounds mature because when he is not trolling he sounds very calm and level headed.

English dub sounds weird because sounds like "aaaggghhh" aren't commonly heard in English and shouldn't have been dubbed in English in the first place. (Even JP just made it into a "Gyaaaah!" sound)
But while it's quite common for Asian languages to have those types of reactions, I think I'm more accustomed Westerners reacting in ways such as "HUH" or "WHAT" or some sort of cussing in place of the many that Asian languages have.

@@soupe2000 I wouldn't just chalk it up as "anime-like", it's how you feel the scream. And how the VA screamed at maybe the top of her lungs makes it authentic unlike some of the dubs here.

all versions sound good for me, tbh. But I guess it's because I'm used to hearing all those languages since I play the game in English dub, I'm used to watching subbed anime, and donghua, and is currently learning korean

Unpopular opinion: I prefer the English voices over the others, no matter how much purists lobby that an anime looking game should be played in Japanese and weebs complain that English dubs are ear-grating. Genshin Impact's strength is its immersive environment, especially in its bustling cities. I lose that immersion a lot when I don't understand the ambient dialogue around me which usually don't have subtitles.
I agree. And I think what JP dub is really overrated. The game is made by Chinese company, after all. Chinese voices are the best, but English dub is second best.)

The game is made by a Chinese firm, the animation is for the Chinese language, and watching the scene with the correct lip movement has its own perks and realism.
Well, it's Mihoyo afterall, "Tech otaku saves the world". The word otaku is Japanese, so it kinda points out that the devs are weebs. Their game Honkai Impact 3rd was heavily inspired by Evangelion, which is probably why they used JP voice as the primary one for global. They just made an option where players can switch languages to match their preference.
