That's not all. When he was sanding the piece of wood, he didn't lower the saw blade so it was hidden below the table saw. One slip and his hand may have driven into that blade. It's how you lose fingers.

Anyone watching this waste of time and thinking it's useful and not dangerous might be the fool. The video doesn't show the finished product, is very dangerous to follow, and of no use to a real woodworker.
Well, if the sandpaper fell from his hand and he caught the spinning wheel in contact with his hand, it could potentially force his hand down to the table saw blade still elevated, looks like a recipe for disaster! Looks like he didn’t see the danger of the saw blade, and you wonder why he lost part of his finger!
So this jig he constructed was for rounding off a piece of wood. To make a bowl supposedly? It's also dangerous. And how would you use it to carve out the inside of the rounded piece? I think it would have been easier to just use the lumber and the drill to make a lathe. There are videos available that instruct you in how that's done. Then a person could carve the inside of the wood as well as the outside to make a bowl.

Everyone is thinking WHY. When you could get a used lathe for a few hundred dollars. VIEWS, PEOPLE LOL. We all watched it, and now he can buy a lathe :)
I have to be honest, a good idea maybe but absolutely far too dangerous to do this on a table saw. just watch table saw disaster videos, you will not sleep, i can assure you of that. when I use my table saw, that thing has my full respect, i would never attempt anything so dangerous, as if using a table in its approved standard function isnt dangerous enough. just don't do it guys. and to the author, hats off you come out of this alive and with a great result too but, man! that could have ended up badly for you. lets just hope that nobody copies you on this idea because you may be looking at a legal damages if they get hurt or worse. you may want to append the start of this video with a disclaimer just to inform what your doing is highly dangerous and should not be attempted at home. dont get me wrong, the lesson was great but the method was not worth the risk in my opinion, but of course, each to their own. All the best
I've been in the woodworking industry for 36 years and I thought that this was very interesting and Ingenius. I've done similar things on the table saw, band saw and with routers. But! I've always used safety measures and I've never drawn blood with a power cutting saw (and I still have all of my fingers intact). This video is absolutely NOT for beginning woodworkers. A good idea, if done properly. This wasn't.
Nice video. Except what is this for? Maybe we might have been less critical of it if we had seen the finished product. What is it? A shallow bowl? A wobbling coaster? A waste of his time and the time of anyone watching. And dangerous too.

This is some Shop Smith quality jigging there! Love it!
Great way to generate sawdust.
Для ваших мозгов....
Best idea. 👌.
I think it would be a good idea to totally lower the circular saw blade prior to sanding!
Well, I, for one, appreciate the demonstration of the type of woodworking skills that caused the loss of one of your fingers....
They say there's a fine line between genius and madness...
absolutely hilarious
What on earth did he create? And for what purpose? Would it have been safer and more useful to buy a small lathe to do something like this?

So, unless I've missed something, you've done the same job as a lathe. Why not just set-up the drill to be a lathe?

Shortcuts lead to short fingers and I sure don't trust a drill chuck as much you. I can only assume you are making a bowl but that is a just a guess.
