The whole joke there is that it sounds like a romantic break-up scenario and things like "She's with Brad now" have a double meaning, because they are obviously referring to her working with Brad as his assistant and just sound to the audience like a stereotypical romantic trope. But what's the double meaning in this scene?? Jo's question "So you're with David now?" literally makes no sense because in what way could they be a pairing in a workplace context? Brad's job isn't to assist anyone, they don't work together, he can't "be with David" so what the hell does she mean??
hello 2-years-ago person, i think it means that jo and brad were a chaotic duo and it was student-teacher sorta friendship but then brad and david banded together so jo thought it was another situation like hers and brads where brad was teaching her but now its david so that would be the mirror but also the romantic trope joke.
