  • The TeraFlex JK ARB compressor under seat mounting kit is a simple solution to mount the ARB on-board hi performance twin air compressor under the JK Unlimited front passenger seat and provides maximum protection from damage and from the elements. This kit also allows the manifold and locker solenoids to be mounted next to the compressor for simple hose routing. It includes a vent exhaust hose kit to safely route fumes to the exterior of the vehicle.
    Note: Fits JK Unlimited only. This kit has been designed to mount under the passenger seat, but can be installed under the driver seat with some modification.

    Powering this is simple, hardest part is running wires through the hole in passenger side firewall. I have this installed to a Apollointech relay, works great.

    I had to cut the sheathing and run each of the 5 wires individually through that little hole in the firewall. Disconnecting each of the wires from the connector plug was a PITA! Using a jewelers flat screw driver did the trick.

    Just an FYI on the 2007 model you have to use a cutoff wheel to remove 3 brackets. A bit more involved than I had originally planned.

    I don't know how anyone could enjoy there compressor with it mounted that close to them. Mine is mounted under the rear trap door in my 4 door JK diesel and it is so loud that I nearly crap myself every time I turn on my lockers.
    Very nice install video though. You're very good at these Denis.

      +Michael Berg (4x4Jeeper) I don't know how to upload a picture in the comments. Basically, in the 4 door Jeep there is a dip in the floor behind the rear seat that I have modified to house a low profile battery and air compressor.

    I like it mounted here rather than under the hood...i just have heard that the compressor itself doesn't last very long.

    Why is this mount listed on your site as JKU-only? What prevents it from mounting on a two-door. And, if it'll fit a 2-door, any issues with 2007-2010 interiors?

      @@HellGh0st Glad you figure our a way to run your setup. Unfortunately the video is only for installing the seat bracket we manufacture. The ARB installation instructions should go through the wire running process and will be different for some vehicles. We understand the frustrations, and may release a video later in the future on how we ran the configuration. But it would only be a suggested setup. Thanks for the feedback .

    Any issues with the hot surface of the compressor melting the carpet or worse? Any testing with long durations of the compressor being used?

    • @teraflexsuspensions
      @teraflexsuspensions  9 років тому +3

      +vonguido1 We have been testing it out on one of our jeeps and the driver has used it multiple times to air up his 40" tires. He said he leaves the door near it open to help with airflow while he airs up just in case, but has never had an issue with it getting too hot.

      @@teraflexsuspensions My single tank compressor touches the carpet. I' m not if that going to be an issue. It would be nice if the mount was bent at an angle to mount closer to the underside of the seat. I'll probably eventually move the compressor to under the hold as I don't like how it fits under the seat.

    Power Routing described here lib.extremeterrain.com/guides/J104225-cust.pdf . Not possible to get the ARB supplied fuses through that hole so it will require leads coming from the battery through that hole to connect with the supplied wires.

    Where was the power to compressor routed to?

    • @garybennett2055
      @garybennett2055 7 років тому +1

      You can route it through the passenger side dash. Open the passenger door and remove the side plate on the end of the dash. You will see a hole that goes towards the engine compartment that is filled with Styrofoam. I straightened a hanger and pushed it through the foam, then wiggled it a bit to make the hole bigger. It will come out on top of the fender behind the battery and the curved piece of sheet metal.
      NOTE: Take a photo or 3 so you know how to plug the connectors back into connector housing.
      Once that is done, you can start removing the connectors on the end of the harness that plugs into the compressor. It is really easy if you have a jewelers flat tip screwdriver. You just push it down into the smaller opening of the connector to release the pins. You should hear a slight click when they are ready to be pulled out. Don't use too much force or you may end up breaking the connectors. They are pretty snug though.
      I then wrapped tape around the free pins and wires, ran the hanger back out towards the engine bay, taped the wires to the hanger and pulled it through to the inside on the cabin. I routed it behind the glove box and down through the center console. For the lights I just tapped into the cigarette lighter power line.
      Hope this helps someone.

      Put a ring of silicone around the hole in the grommet on both sides to assure a good seal. That should hold up, but I'd keep an eye on it!

    Wiring isnt show because teraflex only sells the bracket. They can care less if you wire the arb correctly or not.

    • @teraflexsuspensions
      @teraflexsuspensions  5 років тому

      Correct, although we do care, and hope your wiring is done in a correct and safe manor. But since there are so many ways someone could run wiring for their compressor that we couldn't cover them all. Our install video is for the purpose of mounting the compressor to the bracket and the bracket to the seat only.

      Keep in mind you'd rarely be inside the Jeep for long....if you are airing tires/toys, you'd be out for sure, and if its lockers, it's a short burst here and there. Compressor 100% dry and temp-somewhat-controlled here, VS under the hood where its super tight, wet, hot, etc... just a thought if you are trying to decide
