    When people say “gold” is the only medal worth winning, they clearly haven’t met the people coming second and third or seen their emotions.. i mean just competing in Olympics is itself a pretty big deal and then making it to the podium is huge and admirable... just ask a guy who comes fourth..he would do anything in the world to earn that bronze back.
    Ultimate respect to those who compete at this highest level for such long times and make their countries proud.

    As Brazilian, he's in a remaining group of athletes that go with their hearts to each olympic games. He is a example of training discipline and an inspiration for all athletes here in Brazil.

    I saw his fall in Beijing and in London and I felt so sorry for him and all his hard work. While watching him in Rio I was repeating in my mind "please don't fall" and he landed perfectly.
    I was so proud of him, his strength, his resilience.

    Glad to read all these positive comments. As a brazilian, I fell with him and I can speak for all countryman that was watching him. That was a strike over his carrer and life. He got depressed, literally sick. We're all humans, we all have flaws and bad moments. Couldn't be different for him. But as you all can see, he stand up and did what he did.       We all know he is capable of the most perfect landing. For athletes of his calibre, it is a given. No question about it.....     My friends from Brazil, hope you all are well. I dont know even the bare basics of gymnastics, but I felt really proud of Diego Hypolito. The way he kept rising up after fall for (at least)8years, your people and govt must have supported him a lot. My nation India is trying to improve, but still it can learn important lessons from top athletes like these and these short videos will definitely inspire a lot of young guys. Lets hope I get to see an Indian/Indian team winning a gold medal.

      @@wilianfarias9444 Mais impressionante é que a Flavinha era vista como sendo a mais próxima de conseguir a 1° medalha Feminina na ginástica, e que ganhou não só a 1° medalha como tb a 1° de ouro foi a Rebeca. Mesma coisa em 2012, Diego era mais favorito, e quem levou foi o monstro do Zanetti

      Athletes and musicians always want to go to the next level. He probably performed the last jump a lot of times without falling in his trainings. And to not be able to do so "when it counts" is one of the worst feelings ever.

Uma vez eu vi uma gringa falando das coisas que ela gostava do Brasil e ela disse que nós somos um povo muito prestativo, nós ajudamos pessoas desconhecidas na rua de uma forma muito natural. Fulano pede ajuda a gente vai lá ajuda e segue a vida. Ela falou que nos países que ela visitou, o povo não era muito assim não.

    I remember watching from home this last final with all my family. It was so tense, I was just hoping he could finish the presentation without any fall, and when he did, I knew it was a priceless moment for him! Made my day and the day of all the Brazilians cheering for him 🇧🇷💪👏

      I remember how nerve wracking I was watching his floor exercise final in each of his tumbling passes, which reminds me of the flashbacks of him in Beijing 2008 where he was the favorite to win the gold or medal until that devastating fall costs him a medal. This time with the home crowd behind him, he finally delivered and was rewarded with a silver medal, I do not want him to end his entire career without an Olympic medal.

    This is awesome! I remember Diego's gymnastics were out of this world back in 2008. He was the favourit to win the Gold medal back then! I'm Glad he was resilient enough to finished his carreer with an Olympic medal! Bravo 👏

    God the pressure on these people, you can see the pure dispair in his eyes after that fall. I can only imagine the torment he persevered through. Almost makes me want to never watch the olympics anymore.

      I felt the same way. Sometimes we (and the athletes themselves) forget they are human, and that mistakes are ok. It's remarkable how he overcame his "failures," but it's awful that they were characterized that way in the first place. Despite his falls it was always clear how talented and hard-working he was. He never needed a medal to prove that, but I'm glad he finally got it.
