Hi Melanie,We just wanted to take a moment to express how incredibly proud we are of you! Your accomplishments are truly inspiring, and we're so grateful to witness your growth and success. Your hard work and dedication have not only elevated you personally, but have also made a positive impact on Jamaica. Your contributions are valued and appreciated, and we're honored to have you as a part of our community. Please know that we love and appreciate you, not just for what you've achieved, but for who you are as a person. You're an amazing individual with so much to offer, and we're excited to see what the future holds for you! Keep shining your light, Melanie! We're all cheering you on!
I wonder if Melanie knows how much we love her. I realize she is carrying a heavy burden. Even the way she reached for that cushion says a lot. Simone again you aced it. "Let's talk about that" those words are magical and so reassuring. Love it!!!!
I was in Primary school when Melanie first won & trust me she had an impact on our young lives, I still remember her Mohawk hairstyle & her swag with the dutty wine attitude, she lit up our screen & bought a different energy. You didn’t need to be a sprinter to bought an impact YOU WERE AN IMPACT!!! I hope the current 400 girlies know they don’t need to be sprinters to get attention be yourself & yall will get the shine🤗 go chase after your dream Mel but know you are not define by your event! And I hope as a coach you will realize the risk it will have on an athlete to do 4, 5,6 events. We are in control of our own destiny but experience teach wisdom & sometimes elders have our best interest at heart! 🙏🏾 I hope you know you are loved & in an unpopular event & you did inspire many little athletes ❤
Wow! I had no idea Melanie still wanted to pursue this passion of the sprint hurdles. Go for it. Now is your time You can do it. Oh yes you can!!!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Mi just glad mi wait until Friday evenings to watch Sim Soul Sessions.....I just watch, bawl and go have a long weekend sleep.... Melaine....we get it. Go for your goals...age is just a number. Self actualization is key🙏
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mi cry 😭 eno!!! One of the best interview mi watch. Mi love Melanie sooooo much from jago days till now. Thank you Simone for taking her on ur show I do appreciate it! Mi believe inna u Melanie!!!!! Let’s go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jah Jah ... Melaine mek mi feel like I can do anything in life...she is amazing...she is the epitome of courage, strength, and determination...Let's go, indeed...I am for her 100%
Olympic gold medalist and Olympic record holder is no small accomplishment. Give yourself a pat on the back and recognize your greatness. People love you and rate you a lot. Use that to propel the next phase of your life, outside of being an athlete . You are smart, beautiful, accomplished strong and have a wonderful personality. Consider coaching, public speaking as a motivator, write a book, put yourself out there. Looking forward to seeing you more.
Melaine you have done Jamaica proud and you have absolutely NOTHING to prove to anyone! YOU ARE SOMEBODY! My best wishes for whatever else you decide to do with your life on your own terms😊 Great interview and thank you for sharing your story!
I felt this episode very deep because I can relate to her in so many ways. Melaine, you are loved and appreciate and I believe in you. Keep your head up because you have one last race to run and trust me…you will👌🏾💯. Stay bless🙏🏾❤️
Melaine, mout mek fe chat. If you believe you can do it, you can do it. Big up yourself girl. Thank you for bringing us such pride in yesteryears. You are among the very best. Winners never quit and you are indeed a winner.❤❤❤
The people who expend their time to put people down unnuh nuh have nutten else fi duh? Spend time on you and leave people to achieve their goals no matter how ambitious it seems to you. It’s called ambition; too many people do not have any ambition. Run Melanie. Run!
Ayyyy mi bawl enuh!!! Watching her at school (St. Jago) she is a fighter on the track and she did so well at the Olympics. We missed her. Thanks Simone for bringing her on the show. Big up Melaine!!!🎉🎉
Simone you are such a blessing, thank you for reminding us of the greatness within us. Melanie is such one, keep your chin up girl and go for what you want, the sky is the limit, God's blessings my darling
An indomitable woman! I’ve always loved her and even more so now. She’s my favorite Jamaican athlete, right up there with VCB. Such graceful, determined and hardworking women! May all her aspirations be made true. ❤
...i know exactly how Melaine feels...I am at a similar point on my journey...it is not about money but proving to yourself that you can do it despite the opposing voices...YOU WILL, my sister. God knows, you will.
Sim your space is really safe! I cried with Melanie. Jamaicans needs to be appreciative of their athletes whether they fail or win. Ungratefulness is deeply embedded in our culture,🤔
Fun fact Melanie Bolt didn’t like training hence he retire “early” but he set a goal for himself & build a legacy you could use the same energy with 400h use that to build your legacy u didn’t have to give up. Look at Sydney she bought attention to the 4hurdles even if it isn’t the hot event. I understand your love for the shorter distance but if it’s not working work with what’s working for you🙏🏾❤ with your talent you would definitely be the Sydney of the 4 hurdles!
None of us looking from the outside have the right to determine what is right or wrong for anyone. We bring our perspective, I love Melanie and tempted to cast my judgement about what is right for her. But until you walk a mile in a man's shoes, we don't know. So l have learnt to chill and let perspective chart their own course. I don't say to disrespectful to you.I believe maybe Franno could have tried to come some compromise. That is how Bolt got to run the 100. But that's my take!!!Bless up
@ and you are absolutely right💯 what stood out to me to respond in that way was hearing her reason to dislike the event. I thought I would be because the training is hard or something like that. But to her it’s because it lacks attention & don’t bring the hype the short sprint gives. I just want her to know she is not defined by her event because SHE WAS THE HYPE, her personality was amazing she would shine regardless of any event she choose🙏🏾 & for the future athletes to know the same they are more than their event you don’t have to be a sprinter to gain attention or respect you are the moment half of us couldn’t do what they do, they need to be celebrated regardless
@Sashi5992 well said. She "was the event" and so it's disappointing to hear her give up a golden career because of "lack of hype." If she had said it was my dream to do sprints and I had to chase it, then I would respect her decision more. But for hype! Come on, that's short-sighted and ego.
"Melain Walker the track star, love you on the track off the track. Love from start to finish. Your an amazing girl, you have done exceptionally well. So I gonna give you a star.🌟 Not because I want to, because you deserve it. You work for it, you earn it, you have achieved it."🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💯💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😍🤗
I miss you Melanie. I was wondering where you were if you were hurt or something. Dreams cannot die unless the body dies. Live your dream but live it for you🎉🎉🎉. Take care
Go for your dreams Melaine, let nothing stop you. "Reach high, for stars lie hidden in you. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal" -by Rabindranath Tagore.
I saw the raw talent of her and her brother Christopher way back at Tarrant primary school. Both were excellent sprinters and were always champion girl and boy on sports day. I honestly believe they should have allowed her more flexibility during her peak and we would have experienced so much more from her.
i love her then, and still love her now, however that was a stupid decision, i remember the interview , when she just stop running, that was so surprising, she isnt going to make a name now for herself, she have only herself to blame.
The last thing mi waah seh is di agencies that promised these athletes that them a go give them things when dem perform on di international stage....Give di ppl dem di tings, dem work for it. I heard Asafa said from about 2006 government promised him piece a land I believe and here we are in 2024 and all now him nuh get it🤦♂️
Melaine, your dreams are yours, and you are entitled to hold on to them for as long as you want. However, I completely understand why reputable coaches would not want to signup for your pet project. As with Franno, you are asking coaches to invest time and effort into something that, in their professional opinion, will bring no reward. Medals and placement are what pay their bills and bring prestige to their clubs. That being said, all the very best to you.

She can do well on the Masters circuit. I don't know why she don't try that
External validation does mean a lot, and I think people don't realise this.

Her speaking about not being highlighted reminds me of Nadine's interview.
Also Yohan Blake
Good night
