Tehachapi, Woodford, CA.
A mixed bag of Espee, Rio Grande, and BN units haul a loaded coal train up Tehachapi. Lots of SD's, a GP40, and a C30-7 make up the power consist. The video has entire coal train and helper sets as they struggle to get the load up the Tehachapi grade.
Thank you for that. I very recently retired from BNSF/Santa Fe and am just realizing what an absolutely fantastic job I had running trains. Sometimes we don’t appreciate what we have when we are in the middle of it. No regrets about retiring, however I’m just now appreciating what a ‘cool ‘ job it was for me. All your videos are a reminder of a great career. And yes, the ‘80s till about the mid ‘90s all the RRs seemed to be focused more on getting trains over the road. Thank you again for posting these amazing videos. And yes... nothing like an EMD.
A simply fantastic video! You always do a great job of filming these! You are to be commended for this! Totally awesome job in preserving the history of our beloved Southern Pacific railroad! Definitely keep up the good work!
Dang, awesome train...Notice the literally just-installed ditch lights on the SD45R 7417
There goes the great steel fleet!
