Based on the apparent size of that incoming round in the still frame, that is almost absolutely a Mk84 based JDAM. Based on the size of the explosion at 0:57, the previous round was most definitely a Mk84. That is very unexpected as I assumed they would get Mk2 or Mk3's but them getting the big boy.......thats awesome!!!!
I would like to say it's a MK 84 but I think America only supplied the kits. Nonetheless, Ukraine has some large bombs available in its arsenal. It could get a FAB 1000kg which is a similar size to the MK 84.
@@FXGreggan. True, but getting close enough to drop them will be a massive challenge. Even with the JDAM-ER, you have to get within 72 km (45 miles) and a decent altitude with pop-up, and that's within heavy SAM range. Cheap (relatively), accurate, LARGE warhead. As long as Ukraine can find or maintain a safe way to deploy them even in a short range (lower level release), they are a game changer in places like front lines. This is why they also need western fighters to perform more effective SEAD and hold back RU fighters to allow higher altitude release of JDAMS, above MANPAD range, to hit targets deeper behind the lines.
Considering ruzzia has been using the FAB’s on Bakhmut recently, it’s good timing. Hopefully as UA slowly retreat they booby trap and mine the whole place. 👍🏻

During the terminal guidance phase they dive to trade altitude for velocity which increases the penetration. It only reduces the possibility of interception.
I believe they have JDAM-ER. Fairly certain from the last frozen image. You can see the ER version coming in. These have a range of 45 miles. My guess would be a Modified Mig-29 drop. Really demonstrates the lack of Russian Air Defenses. Or more likely the operators drunk and asleep at the time of penetration into the airspace. Really need to give Ukraine credit in how well they use what they have strategically. Their Intel is superb(with NATO assistance.) They don't waste a single round.
Russian Air Defense is getting better lately unfortunately. 4 Ukrainian jets have been reported downed this week. Lancet strikes also seem quite effective based on numerous footages of artillery pieces. Things need to be scaled up again.
