@@Aussie100-hj2jmmore like a reflection of how careless so many people are. Reminds me of the pet trade. So much casual neglect. I swear most pets are purchased for the novelty. No forethought or consideration, similarly to all these bad tattoos you see. Though, I’d rather see someone put a bad tattoo on themselves than see them get a dog they never take for walks or exercise. So there’s that.
Not a big fan of blackout stuff tbh. Been getting tattooed since 2000 so there's definitely bad stuff on my body but I'm glad I've been able to cover all of it with something better. Just don't like the look of an all black sleeve or in the example here a neck.
I got my first tattoo at 18 when it was mostly a thing military people or rockers or people like that did it. But I'm 71 now. I'm not real heavily tattooed, but I actually hate some that I have. When I was young, I thought I'd never dislike my tattoos. Like most young people I thought I'd stay young and cool forever. But no one does. It's one thing when you have young, firm skin, but no matter what we do as we age our bodies change. I see young women with a lot of tattoos, even face tattoos that are beautiful. But, in 40 or 50 years? Maybe not so much. I can't really afford to have multiple laser treatments, so I'm stuck with mine, even though I outgrew them years ago, and am even embarrassed by them now. Think twice, or three or four times, is my advice. Especially before doing anything to your face or hands. Go look at some older people with tattoos and see how aging changed them so you know what to expect and can decide if that's what you want.
I understand what you said. When I was 17yrs old young and dumb and I wish the tattoo artist told me about my choice and colors of the tattoo I chose.. Maybe I would have not got it. I have 5 black and red nautical stars on my lower back that I do not care for anymore. I've been told it will be hard to cover up so now at 40yrs old I will just have it forever since I don't have the funds to remove it and or don't want to spend money on a cheap cover up.
I can’t wait to be old with old tattoos. I have a 20 year old tattoo that still looks great. I’m sure in another 40 years it’ll faded and be blown out. I’m cool with it.
The value of work consists of the amount of your life's time you put into making/doing something. Expecting, asking or even just allowing someone to work for you for free is the worst, most disrespectful attitude you could possibly display because it shows that you view them, the time of their life spent as literally worthless. It really is that simple. 🏴
Just got a new tattoo today and this is the perfect video to watch now that I’m back. Got a traditional rose in black with an eye coming from the center of it and the eye is blue red and yellow.
I don't necessarily think being a bargain hunter is a bad thing. I think that it's a friend price shopping that is the worst part, I think it's more of, why not support your friends and family business? Why shop around for a cheaper price when you have a friend that can tattoo you? Wouldn't you want to support their business? That's kinda my take on it, support your friends and family
On the other hand, if it’s a friend why wouldn’t you offer them a cheaper tattoo? In most industries people give their friends a discount for their service.
@@emma2370yeah I don’t get it either / I’ve had a friend do my tattoo and he did it cheaper because he knew me and because he didn’t have a private shop yet …. Like hello
Can you make a video about how to get your first tattoo/ how to start a sleeve? Talk about how to select your artist, do’s and don’ts of design selection, what’s realistic and what’s not, how to make your tattoos last a long time, etc. That would be super helpful. Thanks
I love your videos. Makes me laugh so much. The other day i was getting a tattoo. It was the longest i had sat for a single session. Near the end, one spot got pretty spicy and i said 'mental note to myself. That part hurt'. The artist didn't miss a beat, He just said 'yup' and kept moving. That reaction made me laugh in the middle of all that pain.
I really like this guy and this channel. Glad I found it. I find tattoos fascinating. Haven’t gotten one yet, don’t think I can bring myself to get one.
I'm in the same boat. I find tattoos and tattooing fascinating and have toyed with the idea of getting a tattoo, but like you, I don't know if I can get past just how permanent it is and like what if I don 't like it 10, 15, 20yrs down the road?
4:41 thats one of the big problems with the digital times were in now. and in this case with craftsmanship that doesnt have schools for it and are based on mentors. just like with graffiti, less and less people know how to do solid style just because some dude who picked up a marker and saw some stuff on yt/ig/tiktok decided he all of a sudden was the king of the town and throws a tutorial online... makes it harder every day to come across something worth looking at... and translates into it being harder every day to find actual good tattoo artists who back what they claim. it blurs the fundamentals and sets a new bar, only lower each time other people who are starting out dont want to put in the time to actually learn and call it good enough.
I don’t know how this channel got into my feed but I’m glad it did because bro is one of the most honest “hey this is me” guys who also doesn’t come off as a pretentious dick and I love it
I really respect the understanding that you need to care for people mental space when the pain is getting to much for them. Every pain experience is so different. 100% would get tattooed by you.
I have a few mates with black out necks - i think it works for some and no so much for others... I cant get any neck tattoo due to work, so i'm envious of it all really... Oh, wow that "friend" of yours...my best friend is a tattoo-artist and i secretly double-checked with all the fellow co-tattooers in her studio to make sure she isn't charging me LESS because we are friends, because i wanted to ay full-price, not vice versa!
If you're offended by bargain hunters, you're overcharging and don't want anyone to know. There is nothing wrong with wanting the best (not necessarily cheapest) price for a service and shopping around until you find it. That's what smart people do. Only a simp walks into a car dealership and plunks down the sticker price on the first car he sees without seeing what other dealers can offer.

The working for free argument is crazy your getting paid in learning a trade. People pay to goto school to learn about a trade but normally leave with zero real world experience. As a glass blower im constantly paying to learn one way or another 😅
I would agree, but only if there's an understanding that you're gonna actually become an apprentice eventually. If you're "getting your foot in the door" by being an unpaid shop person with no guarantee you'll be taught to tattoo, then to me that's not cool and it's lowkey better to learn at home. I'd rather work for myself for free than for someone else. But 100% agree that if you're getting training and experience from it, then it's not really unpaid
My worst client ever was having me do an American flag in cerakote on a small bolt action, he showed me a picture.. I did almost exactly what he showed me , it was a “battle worn” waving flag. He saw it and flipped out. He claimed it looked nothing like the picture, thankfully he sent me the picture. Well I was a little inexperienced at the time so I offered to redo it with some fixes free of charge. Well two redos later he was finally happy. Candy red, some bright blue the whitest white. And lines straiter the an arrow. It looked fucking awful but homeboy was extremely happy. I swore to my boss if he accepted a job from that guy again I was walking with no notice.
I got my inner bicep done and had to take breaks, breaks are ok. I got it all done at one time, but having your arm so hyper-extended really starts to hurt your elbow joint. lol Like it comes to a point where if taking a break will give you a better tattoo, take a break. It's ok to go back into it. You look more stupid not taking a break. It also helps the artist rest a bit too, which is good for both of you. Sometimes just being in one position for too long hurts.
What you said is true, if you learn at home on your own time you're doing your own training for free rather than getting good training with someone else for free.
The shop I use had an apprentice they paid her she had her own clients and they would refer people to her other the other artists if her style was more suited to the client and a slightly cheaper rate. She's now a full time artist at the shop having finished it and her rates are up and gets constant clients and now they have another apprentice who isn't paid but she's not in the shop they are giving her supplies like fake skin and giving her tasks to do at home and helping her build a portfolio and will bring her in when they think she's ready to start on people at reduced rates. I think thats the best way to do it give them the tools if they aren't in the shop with clients and help them learn and then when they start WORKING in the shop pay them.

as someone with a trade that required an apprenticeship and was paid for it, I find the "work for free" mentality a joke. If you expect anyone to give their time to your business, pay up. If you expect new people to come into your industry and get skilled up to generate income for your business, pay up. It's not like apprentice wages match an experienced worker. If you're not willing to pour into a cup, you shouldn't expect to get a drink. If you won't pay an apprentice, hope you don't ever plan to employ anyone who started in the industry later than yourself.
Imagine being so arrogant that people can’t get a rough quote for work they want done. Imagine going to Walmart and filling up your cart but nothing had price tags and then they surprise you with a bill that was 10x what the average customer would expect.
The bite mark tattoo…the first major one I saw, the tattoo artist did it in shades of red so it still looked like a bite mark after the bite itself faded. It looked a lot cooler that way. Also I don’t think it was so heavily about a romantic partner.

@@thepointsnorth It depends, especially if you're in the medical field. Some hospitals are owned by religious groups so you're not allowed to show your tattoos as much as possible if you're hired.
It's far easier to get a job that pays well when you can cover your tattoos with clothes.
@@Ravensidentity all good but I think the point I was agreeing with was not that “job stoppers” are a big deal in gaining employment (I would know haha) but that hand/ neck/ face tats only look good and make sense if you already have both arms mostly done.
man, that blackout cover-up was crazyyy good, looks awesome even with "normal" lighting
I joined a gym recently - still haven't seen a "good" tat. They all resemble these videos... a lot of sloppy, blown-out, cliche, unreadable crap
It has to be a refection of how people really are 😂90% average at best ,putting it mildly.
Tattoos have worsened my snobbery
@@Aussie100-hj2jmit’s cause most average people don’t give a fuck, like they won’t research an artists that specialises/is good at their desire style instead they’ll just go to their nearest, most convenient (and often cheapest) artist. Because the novelty of having a tattoo is good enough for them
>goes to gym to look at people
>complains
check your t levels bro
Imagine Kirk just doing his thing with the welding machine behind the shop.
The neck blackout is wild, just buy a turtleneck
Bro don’t hate your swazatika
It’s never been more trendy
Look at all the college kid / goons
From da riva to da see!!✊😂😂😂
I understand what you said.
This why u take care of ur skin brother
I can’t wait to be old with old tattoos. I have a 20 year old tattoo that still looks great. I’m sure in another 40 years it’ll faded and be blown out. I’m cool with it.
@@mysticalwolfakela4131wear your stats with pride.
Why not a panther? It sounds like a good tattoo, tho
@@Happytravellerkimmy saving the panther for my other arm lol And thank you! Wish I could share a pic. My dude killed it.
Wow the blackout does really throw me off on the neck I was just staring trying to figure out the jaw line
Like hello
I needed this. Love the longer video! You seem very down to earth and produce easy to digest content.
Crazy you’re already at 30k subs, I found you at 1.8k a few months ago. You’re really blowing up bro. Congrats. Love the channel.
Youre really changing the way I think about tattoos kirk❤
The goat posted
I love that you are very honest!!! Love!!
F it guys do it
I love that hat. Hated to see Mann’s go out of business
I started watching Kirk and now I want to restart and only do trady tattys
I haven't heard "Jabroni" in so long. Thank you.
I don’t know how this channel got into my feed but I’m glad it did because bro is one of the most honest “hey this is me” guys who also doesn’t come off as a pretentious dick and I love it
The scrapey's in the black neck are what I liked the most. Looked like icicles on a frosty window in -40° below. ❄️
Bite marks tattoos? Wouldn’t they risk of having the tattoo infected? I’m asking from what it has been shown.
yes. there’s definitely ways (very easy ways!) to tattoo a bitemark safely, but tattooing over where someone’s bitten has risks.
LOVE blackout though... not for everyone - people can't help but hate. RE colour over black, needs multiple passes .. I.e. like Remy!
I get compliments daily for my blackout neck sleeves and leg.
@@ericanderson1691 envious mate , one day I'll get there!
19:42 Yungruns is the goat!!! Got tatttooed by him last year in Sacramento, and he's an incredible artist and chill dude. I would love to get more work by him because all of his psychadelic trad stuff is crispy and bold
The welding line had me rollin😂
Whatever you get done, if you like it, its's perfect
First I Like it. But then I subscribed to this channel
Great vid AND I’d just like to say my artists are not partiers and that’s how I like it 😃
My worst client ever was having me do an American flag in cerakote on a small bolt action, he showed me a picture..
That blackout is a cry for attention . Nothing else nothing more .

First tattoo I got was for my girlfriend that died when I was 19. Big ass rose with a ribbon right on the neck! Artist tried to talk me out of it…back then I didn’t understand this was a goofball move, I thought he was just insinuating I couldn’t handle it on the neck. Once I realized why I felt like a dipshit for years, then had to go for the ribs and stomach to start making up for it. I wish I had an upper body suit and nothing on my neck, but live and learn!
“Ain’t nothing to learn” 😂
“put it in them, make it hurt, gotta torture then a little bit” 😂😂😂

Love ur vids🎉 super informational but i am watching some of ur old videos and saw u recorded when u got ur palm tattooed, which I thought was super cool and am watching it to see from ur experience if getting a palm tattoo is gonna be worth it, Ik u brought up how its gonna be a painful experience on that spot so I’m still thinking 50/50 on it
as someone with a trade that required an apprenticeship and was paid for it, I find the "work for free" mentality a joke.

What do you have for them and can I get one too?
😂😂😂😂
Imagine being so arrogant that people can’t get a rough quote for work they want done. Imagine going to Walmart and filling up your cart but nothing had price tags and then they surprise you with a bill that was 10x what the average customer would expect.
I like when people do black out filler and leave some tattoos, the black makes them pop

I only go to one artist, and will only go to him until he retires
The bite mark tattoo…the first major one I saw, the tattoo artist did it in shades of red so it still looked like a bite mark after the bite itself faded.
It looked a lot cooler that way. Also I don’t think it was so heavily about a romantic partner.
