I’m originally from japan. Currently I am learning cyber security in Vancouver. Which country is better to work for cybersecurity What is useful certification for cybersecurity field. AWS ?
Hi の村Kinoko, Thank you for your comment:) How nice! I actually can't really say which is better since I have only worked in Japan but it might be easier to get a job in cybersecurity in Japan than in Canada. (No certificates or experience is required in Japan...so much much easier.) About certificates, it depends on where you want to take your cybersecurity career. AWS can be a good start too:)
It depends on the position but usually not that much. I have seen some with almost no Japanese proficiency too. As long as you are not required to report to the clients as a SOC analyst, usually just English will be just fine:)
Hi kathryn I am a pentester from India and got cehv11 and oscp, so is there a good scope in japan to work as pentester or red teamer. Thanks for information.
Hi PATHIK, yes with your skills I’m sure you would be able to find something in Japan:) just make sure to check for companies that will not require you to do business in Japanese. A little late…but good luck !
Hello! Can I become a cybersecurity specialist in Japan even if I don't have a degree but only certifications? And what are the chances of getting hired by the company?
Hi Giyuu. Thank you for your comment! Japan is a bit of a strange place…companies don’t care too much about certificates. (They actually don’t care about WHAT degree but usually require you to have a bachelors)They really care about what kind of experience you have and look meticulously at your CV. If you are getting certificates, I recommend you get technical ones. There’s a huge lack of technical specialists in Japan and so if you could show what skills you have and what value you can provide to the companies that way, even without a degree, you have a higher chance of getting hired I would say:)
Hey i have six mouth experience in SysOps(System Operations).I also studied CISSP official isc2 book for knowledge but not give exam . I have also basic understanding of Scada projects . I have also done some bootcamps of ISO 270001 and PCI - DSS . I am from pakistan coulf i get hired? Where should i contact.I want to work as a cybersecurity consultant
Hi MATEEN. Thank you for your comment. Cybersecurity is all about the experience and that applies the same in Japan too so your SysOps experience will definitely be a plus! Just studying for the CISSP…well might show your enthusiasm but might not be enough to be honest. If you could show what you know now and how you could contribute to the company that you will be applying to, then I would say you have a great chance of getting an offer. Apply through the official company website websites or contact agents such as Robert half. I know a few excellent recruiters there. (can’t say that I can guarantee the outcome but worth a try!)
I can’t say actually…cause I am a Japanese native so I never “studied” Japanese. But my dad who is Canadian could speak pretty ok after 2 years in Japan so…yeah it might take time. Maybe start with Duolingo?
Hi LUCIANO. Thank you for your comment. I can’t take any business proposals (company policy…) but my company could help. Find me on LinkedIn under “Kathryn James”. Greetings:):)
Hi Ritesh, thank you for your comment. I won’t be able to provide you all the details of cyber(as it is a wide wide area) but sure do ask me some questions here when it comes to you. To get some basic idea of the cyber world, I personally recommend you take maybe a few courses from Udemy, Orielly or other media:)

CISA for sec auditing
CISSP for in-depth security technicals
OSCP for basic pentesting
Security + Network+ and Compitia + is a better variations
What Japanese level do you need to work in a SOC?
