An interesting point. I liked this movie, but didn't think it was great. I found the ending upsetting. Five lives lost that night (six if you count the unborn baby) and two more the next night. Nice to have an alternative ending but for me it really emphasised the sadness. Yes: I'm old enough to remember it. No: I'm not a boomer.
Still waiting for him to recapture the magic of Pulp Fiction though. The pop culture references, great dialogue, it was so exciting and fresh at the time. He hasn't directed a film since then which has had the same impact. This movie looks like the closest he has come in 24 years since Pulp Fiction.
This movie won a lot of awards, and I still feel Like it didn’t get enough attention. I honest to god think this movie is comparable in a lot of ways to Pulp Fiction. The acting in this movie is untouchable. The costume design is the real deal. This is one of the only movies I’ve ever seen that is a genuine perfect 10. There was not a mark missed by any means.
"Pulp Fiction" has been overrated because of the fans in my opinion. "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" still shocks me 3 years later with how good it is. The kind of lasting shock that "Reservoir Dogs" inflicted on me.

RR@779 RR@779 I don’t think so. I think it’s meant to actually BE Bruce Lee. He was in something with Sharon Tate - I’ve seen shots of them together doing stunts and stuff and Bruce was at Sharon’s funeral. Also, it was Jay Sebring who first noticed Bruce Lee at an International Karate Championship at Long Beach in 1964 (Bruce Lee did a demonstration, not of karate, obviously) and Jay Sebring introduced Bruce to the producer who chose to cast him in The Green Hornet (Bruce Lee’s first role on television in the US). And Jay Sebring (Sharon Tate and he dated for a while before Sharon met Roman) was at Roman Polanski’s house that night and got murdered as well. I’d say that Bruce Lee would have also attended Jay Sebring’s funeral. In a documentary about Bruce Lee (“I Am Bruce Lee”), Linda, Bruce’s wife, actually talked about all that and how extremely upset Bruce was about it. I’d never seen anyone actually mention this before, but I knew how Bruce Lee was connected to both Sharon Tate and especially Jay Sebring. Also, Bruce Lee was alive in 1969 and hadn’t done any of his major films by then and wasn’t really that well known, so there were no Bruce Lee impersonators in 1969.

@@elikronen4024 The character was ridiculous in the whole movie, in a very human way. He needed attention and stuff getting done for him. Only Tarantino has made Leonardo DiCaprio play a character like that, so silly and essentially weak/vulnerable instead of a hero or the main focus. This film really feels like a story, and not a straight to the point movie. I actually learned about the characters and watched them grow
This is why people Hated this movie because it was a different type of movie that they didn’t get it’s an amazing masterpiece
@@ethanwood9124 nah i didn't find it s bad movie at all there were some great scenes in it but imo it was a bit boring and 'not straight to the point' just seems like an excuse for it to be that long and uninteresting because it didn't ever led to something (except for the ending). But it felt like 70% of the movie could've been cut to make it more fastpaced
mr.biggy07 nah, it was the purest summer blockbuster of the decade
@@Dan89201 good argument...
An interesting point. I liked this movie, but didn't think it was great. But i really like your point about it feeling like it's just "a day" in the life of these people and not a typical "straight to the point movie". I guess it is a happening of sorts. Maybe i will appreciate the movie more in the next years, but yeah, it's still pretty good. I enjoyed the dialogue and humor. But opposing to what Tarantino said, it's not like "Pulp Fiction" and pretty much more like "Jackie Brown". Slow burn movie with qualities, but some problems. I dig it more than "Jackie Brown" though. That's one Tarantino movie i can never get behind. It's always just okay to me for decades now.
1:12 the tone switch is just absolute brilliance
The on screen chemistry between Dalton (DiCaprio) and Booth (Pitt) really made this movie.

@@adlina66 if I had to guess judging by the flashback in the movie, Cliff killed her on the boat and threw her body overboard. The body was never found leaving no evidence to convict him of murder. Just my thoughts.
Rick Dalton was hilarious though, his breakdown in his trailer when he forgot his lines and when he was yelling at Tex about his car being loud while dressed in that ridiculous robe drinking margaritas out of the blender jar, he was in his own world.

Best movie of the decade. I saw it opening night in the theater and I was about to fall out of my 💺 it was so great. An absolute masterpiece.
I hope Quentin Tarantino wil release the 4 hour extended version he says he made. Watching this movie once is never enough.
The budget for the movie is so high, that they managed to create a machine that resurrected Bruce friggin Lee from the grave.

my father cried when he saw the movie , when he heard the radio stations and the commericals and the old life style , the movie focused on the details to make you live in 1969
For anyone that was there 1969 is a lost world, and you just can't explain it.
Modi Stark that’s sad and awesome at the same time. But, in all honesty, they’ll never be a time in America like that ever again, so I see where he’s coming from.
I would cry to with how the world is running now compared to the 60s..
Absolutely - I was completely gutted. I was 3 years old in 1969 and Tarantino nailed it.
I found the ending upsetting. Five lives lost that night (six if you count the unborn baby) and two more the next night. Nice to have an alternative ending but for me it really emphasised the sadness. Yes: I'm old enough to remember it. No: I'm not a boomer.

It got 95% from rotten tomatoes from 33 critics ( viewing in Cannes)
Still waiting for him to recapture the magic of Pulp Fiction though. The pop culture references, great dialogue, it was so exciting and fresh at the time. He hasn't directed a film since then which has had the same impact. This movie looks like the closest he has come in 24 years since Pulp Fiction.
I, like so many others have been WAITING for a Brad Pitt and Leo mash up! 2 of the greatest actors alive! This will be awesome! Cannot wait!
Honestly the few scenes in this trailer aren't very promising, both actors have a better chemistry with Jonah Hill.
I think most of us would be more happy for a deadpool-wolverine i.e. Ryan Reynolds- Jackman combo

Not as good as Pulp fiction but still an excellent film and would love to see Tarantino make several more films.
Tarantino may disagree perfectionist never satisfied
'Cause it is Pulp Fiction. ALL his movie are pulp fiction if you think about it.
"Pulp Fiction" has been overrated because of the fans in my opinion. "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" still shocks me 3 years later with how good it is. The kind of lasting shock that "Reservoir Dogs" inflicted on me.

@@brianmerritt5410 what you're trying to say?

@FC3692230. Only Tarantino has done what? The character wasn't ridiculous. He was depressed.
@@elikronen4024 The character was ridiculous in the whole movie, in a very human way. He needed attention and stuff getting done for him. He was depressed because he was expecting glory from life, fame, and recognition more than anything, but recognition as a star. He then found it as an actor. Only Tarantino has made Leonardo DiCaprio play a character like that, so silly and essentially weak/vulnerable instead of a hero or the main focus. He played a character who would let Brad Pitt shine as the ultimate macho star, as the real worker behind everything, emotionally stable though violent when the situation asked for it, skilled, mysterious, and charismatic.
