I recently bought a 2016 GT and I have been amazed at how fast it spins up (it's almost dangerous in Dynamic mode until you get used to it). I have to assume they "down-tuned" in 2017 or later?
I have a 2014. The first time I really opened it up in 4th gear I looked down and I was doing 140 mph. I quickly shifted it into 6 th and let it coast down. Has anyone put one on a dyno for a before and after power measurement. Now I’d the Bren tuning on mine and also when my 2020 R1000ss m arrives!
TomSexBombJones Wright unfortunately I haven’t ridden the bike in well over a month due to the recall of the cartridge style transmission which won’t be repaired at least until January /February 2020, suffice to say it’s still a great package, and incredible touring machine, and with the right upgrade to the ECU the bike certainly is a great machine but unfortunately at this stage she’s in the garage and will be mothballed until BMW can fix a very serious recall on the transmission. If it was me looking to buy a K 16 now, I would be very wary of putting my hard earned cash down until the issue is resolved....
RM K I can’t believe what I just read. Is this a common issue? I’m gob smacked mate. It is a brand new bike......wow...I’ll pull the plug on the purchase then...

Looking to buy a GT(orL) and not sure which year models is best place to start noting the commentary in this excellent video and linked information. currently riding a Honda 1200 Cross-tourer but looking for something for longer touring our of ACT (with Pillion). New Models a little pricey at around 40k so looking for a model with good features and not too many Ks. On that topic what is too many Ks for this bike/engine. I am sure some would say good up to 100k however i like to get something closer to 30-50k max kms. Any advice thoughts greatly appreciated.
Both the GT & GTL are great bikes although I wasn’t interested in the bigger GTL, then buying the GT Sport as sports version was more towards my liking. As for K’s on the bike, 30 - 50k’s on the clock would be my preferred amount and also checkout any recalls on the transmission as mine has just been fully replaced - anyway good luck with the intended purchase and keep in contact 😁👍
I also got the Brentuning upgrade and absolutely love it! I was already set on it and came across your video which solidified my decision. I have a 2017 GT and was a little disappointed with the throttle response. Almost like there was something wrong. Well when I installed the ECU with the new flash... it was a total beast! It was finally what I was looking for. The re-installation was a bit of a challenge with getting the area by the reservoir lined up but it eventually went back in the way it was suppose to.
Parker Mah to be honest, the 2019 was a pig from the day of delivery until I installed the upgrade to the ECU, now all I have to do it wait while BMW fixes the cartridge transmission issue / recall and finally I’ll be able to enjoy my girl again 😁👍, thanks for the comments and ride safe out there 😎

I am getting a little bit of buffeting on my bagger and was thinking of adding that givi screen extension. Ride safe buddy.
Yes it’s certainly a different bike from first delivery in December and the exhaust sounds is simply incredible. I guess tune made you overtake others a bit more eagerly :) A quick question: I see on their website they have stage 1 and stage 2. Which did you choose? Would you recommend that or a different after experiencing your bike for a while - since your tune.
If your not an existing customer (as I am now), you'll need to purchase the stage one which is simple, although you'll need to send the ECU to the States, but it was quick and as you can see from the vlog, worked perfectly...
James McGinn no reason why not as long as it’s the Euro 4 engine from about 2017 the modification would work no matter how the engine is mounted into the frame 😁👍
@@RMK67 the stage2 on my 2020 K1600B is great. It is like a new bike and I had to remove the lower floor boards to enjoy the higher speeds now. Peter McLean here’s the answer mate; 2 weeks; Approx USD $400; EURO4 retards throttle response (substantially); If you’ve owned a 2016 or earlier model, you appreciate how EURO4 has “screwed the pooch” of the lovely 16’s engine; I’m sorry but I know nothing of the Sydney guys, I did a lot of investigations on Bren Tuning including chatting with a number of 2017 / 2018 K16 owners in the States before making my decision and all came back with glowing reports and 100% satisfaction on the results and I’m now one of those riders who can’t believe the difference but remember I previously owned the 2015 model so I was well aware of the issue, I even did a vlog of my 2015 up against the 2017 model and spotted the difference immediately therefore my recommendation is the US guys as I cannot fault them and their work 😁👍

I assume the sending and receiving was pretty seamless? Must have a ride together sometime. See you are reasonably close/

But I can now understand your disappointment about the throttle response. Compared to a Yamaha FZR1000 or Suzuki GXR1100 (showing my age now) it is slack. Going to run the GTL in with a ride planned already for Easter. Then strip it out and send to the USA. Thanks for your advice and will be in touch by email after Easter.

Does the flashed ecu get rid of the crackling and popping ( that I love!,) on deceleration?
Actually it accentuates the cracking of popping 😁👍
