- We did 18 day kerala Tour that started from Kochi - Central kerala and we went up to South kerala and then came back to Central and then to North Kerala.
This may not be the best way to travel in kerala, we made few mistakes, so i thought to make a summary of our tour and also share some Itinerary for your ready reference.
These are additional tour plans of kerala clubbed with surrounding tourist destinations.
I am not an expert on this region, but have prepapred this basis my knowledge that i gained about this region by travelling for 18 days…

We did this kerala tour with Kochi taxi service operator: www.kochitaxi24... I think they operator only in Kerala, their journey starting point is Kochi.
Taxi charges paid by us as follows:
16 day 1600 km cost planning 29k, extra cost per km Rs 13.
Driver timings 7 am to 8 pm.
Extra hour charge Rs 150.
Each hour will add 10 km to total distance.
Tour starting from Kochi and ends in kochi for cost calculation.
5 Day South Kerala Tour, Starting from Thiruvananthapuram ( Trivandrum)
Day 0 - kovalam - Night Stay
Day 1: Thiruvananthapuram City Tour
Day 2: Poovar - kanyakumari - Night stay Kovalam
Day 3: Varkala & Kollam - Night stay at Kollam
Day4: Local Ponmudi & Neyyar Wildlife, Night stay Thiruvananthapuram
Day 5: Local Travel Thiruvananthapuram & Return.
Tour starting points: Thiruvananthapuram ( Trivandrum)
Tour starts South kerala & Ends in Central Kerala
Day 0 : Night stay kovalam
Day 1: Trivandrum city tour
Day 2: Kanyakumari ( To & Fro)
Day 3 Trivandrum to Alappuzha ( Alleppey)
Start at 6 am For overnight Houseboat stay.
Day4 : Alappuzha to Thekkady, night stay - Thekkady.
Day 5: Morning boating at Thekkady then travel for Munnar.
Day 6: Munnar sightseeing 1
Day 7: Munnar sightseeing 2.
Day 8: Munnar to Kochi travel. Option to go back or
Day 9: Local kochi and take flight in evening.
Ideally 10 days for this Tour.

Day 0: Kochi night stay.
Day1: Munnar
Day 2: Munnar sightseeing.
Day3: Munnar sightseeing again including Tea estate visit.
Day 4: Munnar to Thekkady, evening shopping, Kalaripayattu
Day 5: Thekkady to Alappuzha ( Alleppey) to reach by 11 am for Houseboat stay.
Day 6: Local Alappuzha & back to Kochi.
Day 7: Local Kochi & evening return or stay in Kochi one day.
Journey starting from Kozhikode ( Calicut)
Day 0: Kozhikode Beach evening.
Day 1: Day Tour Kozhikode
Day 2: Kozhikode to Wayanad ( Night stay)
Day 3: Bandipur Tiger Reserve, Night stay Muthanga
Day 4: local sightseeing at wayanad( Night Stay)
Day 5 : kodagu… Night Stay.
Day 6: Local Kodagu( coorg)- Night Stay.
Day 7: Travel to kannur - Night Stay.
Day 8 : Local sightseeing, Thalassery and Mahe - Night stay Kozhikode.
Day 9: Half day local Kozhikode Tour and Return.
Note: You may do only Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur, Kasaragod in 6 to 7 days.
Journey starts at Calicut and ends in Bangalore:
Day 0: Reach calicut and evening spend time at Calicut beach.
Day1: Calicut sightseeing and Malabar food.
Day 2: Travel to Kannur via Kappad beach, Mahe, Muzhuppilangad beach ( drive in), Thalessery… then kannur.
Day 3: Angelo fort, Kannur beach and Theyyem
Day 4: Travel to Wayanad, 2nd half free for sightseeing at wayanad, on way see sightseeing - like lakdi point, chian tree, pookkode lake.night stay at wayanad.
Day5: Sightseeing at wayanad.
Day6 : Waynad to Mysore:night stay.
Day 7: Mysore sightseeing and night stay at Mysore.
Day 8: Mysore to Bangalore, night stay at Bangalore.
Day 9: Bangalore sightseeing.
Day 10, first half sightseing, evening return flight from bangalore.

Journey starts at Madurai and ends in Madurai:
Day 0: reached Madurai.
Day1: Madurai sightseeing.
Day2: Rameshwaram, Dhanushkodi., night stay at Rameshwaram.
Day3: Travel to Kanyakumari, see sunset there, local sightseeing and night stay at Kanyakumari.
Day4: Kanyakumari ( after sunrise) travel to Poovar , kovalam to Trivandrum - night stay at Poovar or Kovalam, do night stay at kovalam…. Instead of kovalam or trivandrum….. Or poovar….
Day 5: Local sightseeing at Trivandrum and explore food.
Day6: Trivandrum (1st half sightseeing)..then leave for allepey via varkala… shikara or houseboat….
Day 7: Houseboat overnight cruise.
Day 8: Alleppey to Kochi.. 2nd half sightseeing….
Day 9: first half sightseeing and then leave back in 2nd half. Vehicle can go back to Madurai.
Total 10 day journey
Driver timings 8 am to 6 pm….

Personally I feel Kerala series is best made and detailed series.

Kerala govt. Should use your videos. The kerela series was a very genuine effort and I am sure all our malayali brothers and sisters feel the same. I have been to kerala but u made me feel like that I have only seen the 1% of the beautiful paradise.
Now I am recovering from covid,15 days in Icu,recovering, watching Kerala episodes,you are great,now 5am still can't stop watching. You are great,clarity in language, great foody, wide coverage, watching you eating, keeps me fit energetic

We went to kerala last week for four days. We stayed -
two nights in munnar,
one night in allepey,
one night in kovalam.
Day 1 - Reached Munnar from Cochi by busin the morning. Booked cloud valley hotel in the munnar city as we didn't go thru our own vehicle. Rented an auto for 800inr per day. Did our brunch from hotel gurubhavan, karimeen fish(very famous in kerala) and went for sightseeing. Covered photo point, matupetty dam, elephant ride, speed boating, echo point, top station, tea gardens, movie shooting locations, and in the evening went for sword show which was fascinating.
Day 2 - Rented the same auto for 1000rs for whole day. Covered many waterfalls, tea gardens, pothemedu viewpoint and enjoyed kathakali performance in the evening.
Day 3 - Went allepey from munnar in the morning, reached allepey in the afternoon. Checked it in our houseboat in the afternoon. Served delicious lunch on boat. Enjoyed boat ride through the backwaters, went on an island, bought some fish for dinner, ayurvedic massage is also famous there for relaxation, went sunset point on the boat, did photography. And in the evening served snacks. Night we stayed in a port and fininshed our dinner.
Day 4 - Checked out from boat in the morning and catch our bus for trivandrum. Reached trivandrum in afternoon and went to kovalam beach which is arount 10km from trivandrum from auto. Kovalam beach reached fininshed our lunch on a seaside restaturant with traditional seafood. And enjoyed the evening in the lighthouse and kovalam beach. The beach is full of foreigners.

Eravaikulam is nice, not great. Kolkkumalai trip is bone shattering, you take a 4 wheel drive vehicle from Chinnakanal and go up a terribly rocky path. Superb experience. Guruvayoor, divine experience. I am happy you went to Kozhikode, it is a special place for me personally. Thank you for putting your heart into every tour.

Nice to see another great video. My dad retired and is living in Thrissur.
I goto Guruvayur temple sometimes but more so to Vadakunathan (translates to Lord of the North) temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The only thing is high humidity in Kerala all year round. Fungus and mold grow easily on roofs and furniture specially outdoor.. Also I'm a vegetarian so vegetables are somewhat limited compared to other places, like Bangalore.

I also visited Kerala in the month of November 2018 same time as you were there. I started my journey from kochi then 2 days Munnar then 1 day thekkady then 1 day Allepy and 1 day Trivendrum and 1 day kanyakumari, I book my taxi by pepper Kerala travel. Nice taxi and very reasonable. Kerala is very beautiful but we must study before going Kerala. If we book hotel and taxi our own self without taking any packages definitely we can save 5000 per person I think so.

May not enjoy complete meals with rice as main medium..
One thing o noticed you loved the chilly-curd rice-papad combo.
This chillies r med thik ka green chillies, split & immersed
In curd+salt with some soaked methi seeds overnight..
Removed & Daytime dried under sun , soaked again..
This is done till the chillies soak up all & completely dry up.
These r to be deep field on low flame, till black..
Then used on the side like pickle...

Thanx for includin wayanad ,Most tourist dont know about wayanad but I can say it'is one of the most entertaining destination or a full packege , there u can see tea plantations,wild all types animals ,dams ,lakes hills,mountain pass (waynad is a plateau almost 1000 feet above sea level ,cool weather) ....And lot

About Sambhar in TN we use tamarind n coriander powder. In TN we have 13 districts and Sambhar also little changes in masala powder. In Kerala they use kokkam, it's good for health. All your videos is nice.
