  • World’s Toughest Mudder is considered the hardest 100-mile race. This film focuses on 3 participants who competed in the deepest women’s field to date.
Over 24 hours, they will face 20 difficult obstacles per 5-mile loop, multiple water submersions, and temperatures that drop into the 30s overnight.

Have absolutely no idea how this cropped up on my homepage but what a documentary it was! Absolutely loved Kris' attitude and love that she both won / made history. Noticed that on every obstacle showed, she stopped to help those behind too - got a new fan in me! Amazing job ladies!

Goofus runs off after an obstacle, without helping other racers.
Gallant pauses, and assists other runners, before moving quickly through the course.

Glad to see Kris win. She didn't put down others (whether they be other WTM people or other sports), she helped other competitors despite her desire to win, and she was humble in victory. What an inspiration!

This gives a really good overview of what it’s like to run WTM. Even an athlete amazing as Katie can have a bad race (by her expectation maybe, definitely not by any normal standard) Kris is truly amazing- at one point I saw her back under the cargo net and I thought she was disoriented- but she was just actually helping other mudders clear the obstacle. Truly shows you what tough mudder is all about. Hanna’s journey was great to follow- she is amazing. Thank you Matt and team for the very well produced doc and can you now please do another one featuring the men?? 😂❤

I don't think you can call this the hardest 100 mile race when the Barkley Marathons are a thing and have had 15 finishes in its entire history. No woman has finished that race and 1 guy has finished it 3 times but never back to back. There are some years where no one wins it and the first person to complete it did so in 1995 or 1996 and was the only person to complete it that year.
It is a completely natural course no man made obstacles and is at the very limity of what a human being can actually do.

@@ewoknips5154 I'm so sorry that I'm just now seeing this! I would first say maybe try a short distance Tough Mudder to see if you like it. In regard to WTM, gosh there is so much - run. Run a lot. Haha! It's primarily endurance. Obstacle efficiency is helpful but endurance is more important. Also learn how to eat while you move, it's an eating game as much as it is a moving game. Above all of that, it's a mental game. There will be moments (maybe most of the entire race) that are miserable but you have to make the choice to keep going, to make each foot take another step. I went into it thinking "Okay Jenny, you just aren't sleeping tonight. We're going to run until tomorrow. We'll run until it's over and see what happens". Stopping wasn't an option. I hope some of that helps!!

It also really puts into perspective how difficult this race is when someone of the top athletes are quitting and covered up in 15 blankets to get warm, and how frustrating/humbling it can be when you can climb a freakin’ 4 ft hay bale cause you’re 18 hours in 😂
If you think you’ll ever try this race, you won’t regret watching this. They should just show it at next year’s briefing tbh 😂

    Actual question
So I'm new to WTM and I thought they only had 24h to run. So from noon one day to noon the next. Kris was at 95 miles at around 11:47, and I know she completed the 100 miles in general, but does it not matter that she didn't get all 100 within the 24 hours? I looked to see if anyone else asked this question in the comments, I hope someone can help me understand!

Hi Judilynn. The race can be slightly longer than 24 hours. The rules have changed slightly over the years. For this particular event, you needed to begin your last lap by Noon, and end your last lap by 1:30PM. If you are mid-lap, you do not get any partial credit. She did in fact start and finish within those parameters. A bit too much to explain in the video, so there you go. :)

No woman has ever been able to complete the Barkley Marathons (100 mile race), this has NOTHING on that.

It’s a personal thing … not saying right or wrong or good or bad … but I cannot stand athletes that have to have all these motivational sayings, proverbs, catch phrases …just get the “xxxx” out there and get it done ….. no phrases … just get out there
