King Penguins arrive at the San Diego Zoo in 1967

Penguins at the San Diego Zoo June 9, 1967:
On June 9, 1967, the zoo’s penguin population was increased to 23 with the arrival of three new King penguins -- they joined one already there. The three new ones were captured on their Antarctic ice pack home and were sent there through an animal dealer in Hanover, Germany.
As you can see, they stand about three feet in height and are considered the most colorful of all penguins, with yellow, brown and orange feathers. The experts say the penguins lost their power to fly about 100 million or so years ago, but they’ve compensated for it by their superb swimming skills. (UA-cam music: Hickory Hollow Dan Lebowitz)

Admittedly I don't know as much about penguins as I'd like to, but I couldn't help feeling bad when they were getting picked up by their small wings like that. I wonder if that hurt them at all or if it's actually painless

What’s the difference between an emperor and king penguin? Are they just smaller?

Emperor Penguins:
- Live in colder environments
- Are more subject to the threats of global warming
- Are larger
- Have darker backs
- Lighter chests and crests around their ear area
- Are rounder
King Penguins:
- Live in warmer environments
- Are less subject to the threats of global warming
- Are smaller
- Have more blueish backs
- Have darker chests and crests around their ear area
- Are skinnier with less circular bodies

You can easily make this tragic and sad by changing the upbeat melody of the music …. Cause for real for real those penguins are probably totally miserable and very unhappy
