I've seen a few people get confused about why everyone started going all "OMG!" about him doing that and not seeing it as a big deal. They don't know that a man interrupting a dance in this historical setting is a BIG deal because that's exactly what he's telling everyone by doing so; "Back off! She's mine!" ☺

@@LovelyLies16 Exactly! And when Lord Debling didn't say bug off to Colin, he was acknowledging Colin's claim bc he could see it in Colin and Pen's faces. It just gave me such goosebumps to see him do that.

The one thing I loved about this season was seeing Penelope FINALLY outloud say whatever she was feeling. If it was admiration, frustration, saddness, happiness, concern etc. She stood her ground, without their being overlapped conversation between her and Colin or someone or something getting in the way before was is really important cannot be said.
Yes! When she goes to Debling and says she was not being herself earlier, that she wouldn't do that anymore, I was like 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I have a theory I think he's always had feelings for Penelope he was just maybe I feel like afraid of rejection because they were such good friends because like you said he would never ever Court Penelope he respected her more I feel like. Because like he said he looks for her in every Ball that the ton has and it like they were already courting when he was gone on his travels he wrote her everyday. I think he's always been in love with her but he was always trying to be with the time. But then when she stop writing him his feelings started to show that's why he didn't want to kiss her at first. Then when it happened he atarted feeling deeply for her. Love is a strange thing and when it hits you then you become surrounded by the emotion Colin and Penelope are two of my favorite characters they are the reason why I'm watching Bridgerton. And everyone knew in the Ton that Colin and Penelope had something special it just took Colin to see Penelope with someone else to realize her worth.
I agree. By season 2 he was already in love with her but hadn't realized it yet. Look at their dance after he exposes Lord Featherington!
It just took him seing her being noticed and desired by others to realize it
I somewhat agree up to a point. I think he might have feared rejection because Pen was best friends with his sister… and maybe Colin was worried that Pen saw him more as the brother she never had. But he was completely clueless to her pining for him.
However, I think Colin pushed away any thoughts of Pen and him making a great couple because Pen might have been correct. I think Colin really was ashamed of her. He said he was not ashamed… to be her friend. But he worried too much about what others thought to court her.
Being able to big girl myself, I know that rejection. I once dated a guy in high school that dumped me when his friends made fun of him. The ironic thing is, one of the friends ended up with a crush on me 2 years later. Whatever. I told him to get lost.🫸🏻
@@LeySidle Yes!! That moment when he played hero for her and her family with Lord F and then whirled her around the dance floor was like ultimate happiness for him. You could see him just bursting with it. And I love that he said "I've been rehearsing that speech all day and if he tries anything else (*unsaid*: don't worry, Pen) I've got more to say!" I swooned. Luke Newton IMO really gets this character and plays his subtleties to a T.
Honestly, this edit should be added to the Bridgerton trailers in Netflix. It is absolutely brilliant. I have watched it countless times. Thank you so much for doing this for all of us who love the Penelope and Colin love story. An epic edit for an epic love story.
I keep coming back to this video almost every day. I have it on my cell phone for easy rewatch. Definitely my favorite.

I swear its the most exquisite Polin edit out here. I was mostly disappointed how fast everything was (not enough angst, groveling, longing. As a lover of slow-burn and pining, the pacing was meh.), but its still beautiful)
